Take This Waltz by Leonard Cohen is all kinds of wonderful, and in a similarly poetic vein, Paper Airplane by Buck 65.
As to female vocalists, The Dozens by Amelia Curran is rather a bragging about love one, but it's a great song regardless. Swell Window is pretty sweet, and it's generally worth checking out any of her stuff. By the same token, try out Song To Fall In Love To by Sophie Madeline, it's a keeper.
