I am a huge NicoMakian but I can see them breaking up, tbh. And for all we know, Maki initiated them breaking up. And I can see Nozomi turning their earlier closeness into something else. But there is absolutely no sign of Eli in this. Once Nozomi met Eli, they were apparently inseparable. And if Nozomi hadn't mostly stopped talking to Nico, Eli would have known her better. So points for including Maki (even as best friend, but ex works better) but no points at all for not even mentioning the Eli problem. Nico and Nozomi are quite similar - lonely girls who keep everything to themselves, at heart. The only things I can think of that Nozomi would admire are Nico's domestic skills and her dedication.
And Nozomi IS the worst offender re Nico. No competition there. My least favorite scene there is Nico looking all grown up and beautiful for the video and Nozomi literally walks away while she's talking, like "I am intervieiwing Muse, but not this unimportant girl who seems to be here for some reason." And she was probably the only person Nico thought of as sort of a friend during her time of trials.
To make the jokes Nico was the butt of only works until you get her backstory and she becomes a real main character. After that, you should probably taper it off and actually make it up to her a bit. Not that Nico shouldn't have apologized to Honoka, because she definitely should have.
