Despite using the website daily, I barely comment. I confess I don't read much of the good, complex stuff... but I decided to finally read this one after being in my readlist for a while. I just spent so much time crying. And I'm afraid the students nearby listened to my agonized crying (I live in a dorm). I avoid tragedy, doomed by the narrative lovers and etc. for a reason. I know it will hurt me deeply. And this one did a number on me. But it hurt me as much as it healed me. I found it beautiful. I cried so bad, and I hate that Kaori and Shizuku will never be able to be a real couple, that they won't have a 'happy ending'. It's terrifying. But, also, Kaori died feeling fulfilled (despite her most 'selfish' wish), and Shizuku learned how to cope with her past mistakes and will be able to live a better life. So, I can't ask for an ending that's better than that, despite my own selfishness of seeing happy lesbians. Not all stories have to have a happy ending and sad endings aren't a bad thing at all when they're so well made. I cried my soul out, but it was a really good cry. This is one of the best stories I have ever read. Thank you.
