Oh boy, this is outright disastrous. Either the author doesn't understand the concept of soulmates, or they were planning on NTR from the start. There's no special definition of 'soulmate' for A/B/O as far as I've seen, it is what it is in any other story: some, but not all, people have a soulmate, who is very much a SOULmate, a person one is destined to some day meet, a person who is a perfect match for them both sexually AND romantically. The 'signs' of such a bond vary from story to story from an inexplicable subconscious magnetism, to a physical marking, to just Knowing when their eyes meet.

There's stories about rejecting the soulmate system, but in omegaverse, where pheromones and animal instinct trump all, and ESPECIALLY a universe where the soulmate sign is something as overpowering as "instantly going into heat"? Not a chance.

And as bad as Omega-chan looks, the big sister is going to look twice as bad the moment their hands touch, since the former's already dealt with this before and there's no reason why it should only affect one soulmate when alphas have their own kind of heat anyway. This is not going under the radar for President-chan, not when her sister and girlfriend look like they're about to rip off each other's clothes in the middle of the street.

I know. That there's no way that this'll end off so simply as "Diana stops being a LI after the sports match". Look at it from a meta level: Three volumes in, and the covers have gone from Lapis and Natori, to Diana and Natori, to Lapis and Diana. In addition, the mangaka continues to make art of Natori with Diana, and with the three together. The mangaka has passed up chance after chance to cut off Diana's branch. When there was an inkling of Diana and the prince possibly ending up together after all, they chose to reject the possibility, and even went so far as to say that Diana would end up with NO male character. Instead of Diana showing any jealousy at all towards Lapis, Diana has repeatedly treated her interactions with Natori as special and a good thing (except when Lapis does something dumb that hurts her), while flipping out at the thought of Gran getting too close to Natori. They avoided turning Diana into an antagonist, and then even went so far as to have Diana try to outright admit defeat and entrust Natori with Lapis, but she got stonewalled and ended up not being able to let go.

At this point, I think it's safe to say that Diana's not going anywhere: not in terms of plot, and not in terms of romance either. So the way I see it, there's two ways for this to end up: either we go full harem anime and make Natori choose Lapis at the last minute, or we go poly - and I'd like to make it clear that IT STILL COUNTS AS POLY REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT LAPIS AND DIANA ARE DATING - and I have faith that the mangaka won't go as far as to do the former.

I don't care what islamophobic anecdotes you bring up or what statistics you dig out of studies of patriarchal systems, it's still 'legit' poly and it can be perfectly healthy. You don't even need to go in from the start under the framework of heavily pre-negotiated poly with schedules and such, especially not with just 3 people (though it's not like that'd be a major obstacle with Little Miss Accounting involved).

To toss my hat in the ring of "people in polycules with hanging links" along with that earlier poster, I'm happy to be in one of those hanging lines - I'm in a relationship with a girl I love, and she's in a relationship with a few other people, and or two of them have or used to have a partner of their own, whether that partner has a relationship with my girlfriend or not. My relationships with my metamours range from close friends to minor acquaintances to vicarious crushes, and that's fine to me. I might end up closing a vertex or two as I get to know them better, but I'm happy as I am now, being able to be in a relationship with a girl I love, and knowing that she's getting plenty of affection even when I'm not able to contribute to that myself, and this is something we all just happened to slip into a little at a time. Nothing unhealthy about that.

Anyway, I feel like people have been missing the signs of a spark between Diana and Lapis; the fact that Lapis' initial facade toward her had her basically calling them soulmates, the way that Gran observed that Diana mentally put Lapis and Natori in their own special category, the touchy-feelyness that Lapis shows in one-on-one conversations with Diana, Diana getting blushy when Lapis gets close to her, the art with the two alone together... Don't count the final component ship out just yet. Even this upcoming sports plot could become a way for them to get closer - what better way for them to bond than a (relatively) low stakes sports rivalry?

Well, now that this stuff's been moved to the Wicked tag, I tried again to put in requests for a bunch of high quality (proper) Wizard of Oz/Land of Oz/Oz yuri images - not just one or two this time. With any luck, we might finally get a Pairing: Dorothy x Ozma tag yet.

Straight normal guys who eventually get turned into other things A and B. Oscar, stage magician who ends up in a position of power, ends up letting it get to his head, abdicates, risks his life saving Dorothy and fights gargoyles whilst dual wielding flintlock pistols, and ends up getting to learn real magic as Glinda's apprentice? He's just a fascist asshole now. Glinda, 7 foot tall god-queen based on the author's feminist mother-in-law, commanding an army of amazons? She's a basic bitch now.
Hell, from what I can tell, whenever Dorothy shows up in the Wickedsphere, she has even less agency than MGM Dorothy.
The people deserve to see Ozma's piss-and-vinegar girlhusband on the big screen, damn it!

Regardless, at least Zunusama seems to have noticed that air too. For a crack ship, they make an oddly fitting couple, and a cute one too. Here's to hoping KoiYuka catches on~

On something from a bit earlier, though, I've had this suspicion all throughout reading this, and it feels like it's still dropping hints, but I have a feeling that Naori has some kind of connection to Yorimitsu. From the manga opening with Naori watching her grandfather mix an "oni-killer", to the supernatural speed at which she got down and back up the mountain without noticing, to what Mikage pointed out about the descendants of Yorimitsu's followers gravitating to her. I don't know if it's just a direct line of descent, or reincarnation, or what, but it certainly feels like it keeps getting hinted at.

And would be a romantic thought, don't you think? It all starting with Yorimitsu tricking and killing the original Shuten Douji with alcohol, and now, a thousand years later, Yorimitsu's successor and the modern Shuten Douji falling in lesbians and fighting for each other's sake. I certainly wouldn't be against it ending up that way.

Even in English, the terminology isn't all that consistent. In the heyday of the Shoujo-ai Archive, for instance,"yuri" was considered only applicable to works that included sexual content.

Unpleasently unsurprised that the first Oz art here is what is basically fanart for a highschool au fanfic when actual canon Oz includes two girls having friend-makeouts and getting friend-married. Maybe I can dig something up...
