You cant give this title to a story and not make a Zelda reference. It's in violation of the law of the internet

Cute story though

I see a lot of hate on Shion here, but honestly, she's right. In a real world situation (read: not a Yuri manga), if you confess to a partner and they don't feel the same, you risk ruining the partnership (which in this case means ruining Kiki's chance of being top pair in the quadrille). In a sense, Shion is looking out for Kiki and her dream. You can't fault her actions.

And that is because Miorine is a puddle of joy in the anime right?

She's a textbook tsundere

But that's just the thing, I don't think she is one. Tsundere characters tend to be easy to read. They overreact to situations, it's clear to the reader that they're in denial. Miorine, if anything, underreacts. While there are scenes which establish that she cares for Suletta, most of the time you can't tell what she's thinking or feeling.

Even this particular story seems to acknowledge that, as the first panels are there specifically to tell us how Miorine felt during some moments in the series.

So yeah, she feels more charismatic in here, imho.

Still, I prefer Miorine in the several pieces of fan media I've read (like this one) than in the original series. Maybe it's just that the series creators didn't have enough screen time to explore her emotions, so she comes off as cold a lot of the time.

I mean she's dealing with quite a lot throughout the entire show. Not much room for levity from her. Suletta's levity was in stark contrast to most others and can't be decoupled from her naivete, lack of responsibility and her control from her mother. Even she got serious once she started to suffer similar burdens. Mio can be cute in this one since it's post everything.

But this was super cute.

That's true. I think part of the reason I feel that way is that Miorine doesn't express emotion often, not even in private. For comparison, Nika is also going through a lot, but her character is more expressive, so she feels more relatable. (I don't mean it in a bad way, characters need to be different from each other, this is just me reasoning on why I don't find Miorine very likeable in the series).

Okay do you mean likeable as a character or likeable as a person? Because those are two very different things

As a person. I'm not sure what you mean by "likeable as a character." Isn't that the same as saying a character is popular?

Miorine being more charismatic and likeable in a few pages of fanwork than in the entirety of canon.

Mio haters see a slightly mean girl and run for the hills screaming

Not a hater. Also tell me I'm wrong.

Okay. You're wrong

And that is because Miorine is a puddle of joy in the anime right?

She had a few very charismatic moments, episode 7 when she makes the proposal for Gund-Arm and episode 24 when she announces the dissolution of the Benerit Group come to mind.

I had felt the Gund-Arm announcement sounded more like naivete on her part, but she admittedly does it out of care for Suletta, so I guess you're right.

... I was NOT old enough to be on /u/.

But like, /u/ also introduced me to a lot of progressive vernacular well before they entered mainstream usage, so like, it wasn't all bad. Now, though? Naaahhhh. No one should be allowing their kids to hit up /u/ in search of self discovery.

I'm an adult and I don't think I'm old enough to be on /u/. I wonder if I'll ever be.

What an interesting little philosophical romp

Isn't it? I really enjoyed some of the metaphors, like the frames one. The writing is clever and it doesn't resort on stereotypes or common tropes. I should look for other stories from this author.

Any reason why this didn't get the incest tag? It's the main theme of the story (even though nothing explicit happens). Just asking.

In manga and in real life, actually. I'd love a friend like that. Sometimes ya just can't see things clearly when you're clouded by emotions.

seconded and thirded

@ topic: this is really cute please send help.
The couple might want a safe word before getting into that kind of kinky play tho

I usually don't expect Yuri mangaka to know what a safe word even is, but this is exactly the kind of situation where having one is mandatory. It's a little concerning that a manga featuring rape kink gets published without even acknowledging safe words exist.

I remember having liked this more the first time I read it. Reading it now, it feels incomplete. I really like Chiharu but Shou's MDD isn't very conductive to an engaging story, especially not one told in just 5 chapters.

I know everyone wants a happy ending but in my case, I think it would be a cheap ending. Teasing her death since the beginning, without showing any possibility of a remedy/cure for her disease, it would just feels cheap to cure her last minute. Not that I want her to die, but letting the reader go through an emotional rollercoaster, starting even greaving for her death and all for nothing would feel fake.

I know that all of that allowed character growth and bonding, meaning her illness then recovery wouldn't have been just for the sake of drama, but sometimes, the beauty is in the tragedy.

I feel the same way. I would feel happier if she didn't die. But it would be a shame for the story. A lot of the themes here only make sense if Kaori dies.

You can vote for KimiTsuzu (and a few other mangas you like) here: https://tsugimanga.jp/en/nominate2023-comics/. You only need Twitter or Facebook account to vote. Voting ends July 10th, 2023.

This series deserves to win.

Imagine Shizuku dies instead of Kaori bc she can’t bear to lose Kaori now at this point and she’s desperate enough to do something stupid to cause her to be able to transplant a necessary organ.

I think that's not the kind of disease Kaori has. If it was a disease that could be solved with a transplant, she would still be holding out hope instead of assuming she was going to die.

Considering her symptoms, I'd wager it's cancer.

It's funny how this feels fresh despite having been released over twenty years ago. I guess some aspects of human experience are timeless.

The extra was really sweet.

I loved reading this again.

They figured out the plot to my latest Yuu/Sayaka fic. /j

Oh what is the name of the fic and is it on ao3?

I honestly considered writing a fic with this setup a while ago, but so far I haven't, sorry. I do publish the occasional sayaka/Yuu fic on ao3, so maybe in the future

Well, I love the unrequited love plotline so I don't see a problem with that

My cat just passed away and I'm feeling rather down. Anyone got recommendations for a series or oneshots that have cats involved. I miss my kitty so much.

Funny that you said literalist. I remember the episode and I remember his exact words were: "She can literally have any man she wants." Literally, he said. Maybe the poor guy was just trying to reinforce his statement and didn't know what "literally" actually means, but that's what he wrote.

That or slavery is legal again.

FWIW I think nitpicking about the meaning of "literally" sounds like pedantry. Lots of people use that word solely for emphasis. It's not a problem, since it's fairly simple to figure out which usage is being implied in each context. People should literally chill out about that.

I feel like the characters in this series have realistic motivations and hang ups.
