Man, I'd have been a bit harsher if I was Mikawa. I'm sure this has been hammered to death, but both Yamada and Kase need to stop being softer than dough.

This does feel like some cosmic justice for Kase, though. It seems to me that she and Mikawa don't get along the best and now having to live in very close proximity are her just desserts for letting this stupid melodrama drag on.

You don't get it? It's because Kaede is so helpless and hopeless and all around pathetic that Rin-chan will feel in her heart the irresistible drive to protect her and take care of her. That's how it always works!

It's a classic trope in the oneeloli genre. JS-san to OL-chan, Be Careful Onee-san, Mai-chan no Onee-san Shiiku Gohan and many more all come to mind.

Her writing, page composition; her characters expressions, movements, eyes, etc, are carefully crafted. When Fuuko wraps an arm around Yuni when confronting Nanase, it has meaning. When Fuuko puts her foot besides Yuni, it has meaning. When Nanase slightly blushes when Yuki hugs her, it has meaning.

You might no like the story because you're uncomfortable with the themes, but it doesn't mean the author is bad at what she does. On the contrary, she's very good. She call it herself "kuzu yuri", ie, "trash yuri" and everything is done on purpose to be the most infuriating possible. And obviously, her Japanese audience follows, because her serialization continues.

If you really hate it, just don't read it. Simple as that.

If you keep on reading, it means you're still fascinated, like watching a train wreck, and the author met their goal.

Really? I'd say this chapter rather affirms that point of view. She obviously cares a lot for Xiaoen but it seems to be in a more familial sort of way, doesn't give much of a romantic vibe to me honestly.

Maybe it's their interaction as children. I look at chibi Xiaoen; I try to imagine myself in the place of chibi Yunduo, being at the receiving end of that level of cuteness; and I can't envision myself not falling in love.
