It's a male transgender story on top of that. A very rare sight in any media.

Ok, it's getting a bit out of hand...

Wow is there ever a lot of people making wild judgment calls and heavily stereotyped reading of this manga in the comments.

Stop condemning one of the very few decent portrayals of someone going through transitioning just because you as a cis person think it needs to somehow be more psychoanalytical or maybe just don’t get it at all. You don’t have to get it! It’s not your story!

I understand being touchy on the subject and having to deal with people who try to attack or erase you all the time, but don't you think you guys are taking it a bit too far? Nobody from people who expressed their doubts about story said that trauma makes you trans or tried to excuse trans people existing. Those comments were actually very civil and only pointing out story relied heavily on showing Chiaki's dysphoria through social pressure and norms, rather than his own discomfort with his body. I can see where those commenters are coming from, as line between not fitting into stereotypes and not identifying with your assigned gender can be very thin. That's what puberty is for. Having conflicted feelings about one's own identity and the way other perceive you is a common experience when you're still in process of figuring out yourself. Some people go through phase when they think they want to be opposite gender, but over time they come to realize they're actually fine the way they are and might even love being their assigned gender.

My point is, those people clearly just weren't sold on the premise this story sold and had their own interpretation of it, which is completely valid. Just because story is about trans issues it doesn't mean it has to be a good story or even accurate for that matter. Especially when you're unfamiliar or not as knowledge about subject, some things might be easy to miss or not as clear as to other people. When I read it first time I just read it with clear understanding Chiaki is trans and never questioned it, but reading those comments did make me realize, there weren't a lot of examples when Chiaki was experiencing his dysphoria without it being tied to society's perception of what is and isn't allowed for men and women. That doesn't mean he isn't trans, as social norms are one of the biggest source of dysphoria for many trans people, but I can see how to someone that might seem like that was the only case of it and wonder, if had Chiaki not experience it, would he actually still feel the way he feels. It's perfectly normal to question character's consistency and believability.

The proper way to react to it is giving a explanation how their interpretation might be flawed or what they might miss in the story, like those comments:

daydream_dog94 posted:

i think the whole "men hunt and kill things" is a personal thing for Chiaki. by his personal standards and the standards of his father he has to be a man to hunt and has to hunt to be a man. the manga isn't telling the reader "you have to hunt and kill to be a man". but rather it's chiakis's father who is telling him specifically. i mean, chiaki even mentions female hunters so. not to invalidate your offense I just think it's meant to be taken as a personal matter rather than a stereotype in this context.

Lap posted:

I think the main reason for the overly sexist attitude of the father is so that when he finally takes Chiaki hunting, it is proof that he accepts Chiaki as his son.

You can easily do it without jumping to talking/looking down on those people. If they actually wrote straight transphobic things, I can understand being offended, but this is nowhere near requiring such strong reaction.

Yea. It came from me misspelling "nervous" to "nevrious" once and joking that I'm going to call that my scanlation group, if I ever make one and later I misremembered it as "nevrilicious" since "licious" is more common ending.

Also I like how, after all that, you didn’t add a note for takaramono.

More particularly, I'm wondering if there are examples of manga - ideally yuri - that's successfully transitioned from multiple volumes of will they/won't they to multiple follow-up volumes of "yep, we're in a serious relationship, and all that follows." I'm wracking my brain, but the vast majority of yuri I can think of ends almost immediately once the relationship is consummated, whether that's a mutual confession, kiss, or sex. (Morinaga's My Cute Little Kitten is damn near the only exception I can think of, and that featured full-on sex within the first five chapters or so...)

That's actually issue with vast majority of romance stories in general, not just yuri. It's the definition of "the journey is more important than the destination". Most writers are more interested in exploring how couple got together instead of their live as a couple. In fact a lot of romance mangas existence seems to depend on "will they/won't they?" factor as a main gimmick and as soon as it's resolved, manga loses its purpose to exist and is instantly concluded. My personal explanation is that it's much easier to came up with story how 2 characters meet and fall in love with each other concluding in them finally confessing their feelings, while coming up with a realistic, interesting couple life is much harder. Most het mangas I read that didn't end as soon as couple got together never actually focused on their life as a couple. In order to keep manga interesting authors would immediately start introducing incredibly forced drama that almost never happens to any average person. The most common ways to keep manga about couple interesting according to most authors is either introducing reason for couple to break up or split apart (usually through blackmailing), introduce love triangle or just use old fashioned misunderstanding to create friction between main pair. So pretty much most authors don't write them as a normal couple and pretty much find a way to write it as if they weren't dating. At best the relationship becomes incredibly toxic and you pretty much root for them to break up.

I have to give it to the author. Even title is perfect mixture of subtext and vagueness. I did some digging to make sure and from what I can tell the word 焦がれる can mean both "yearning for something strongly" or "falling in love strongly". It expresses a incredibly strong desire of longing for something and which meaning applies depends on context. You could yearn for your old home, or new job, but also could fall head over heels in love with somebody or something. In case of Nettaigyo wa Yuki ni Kogareru both fits since it could be just as easily translated as "A Tropical Fish Yearns for Snow " as well as "A Tropical Fish Falls in Love with Snow ". So which meaning makes more sense is left up for interpretation.

Beat all the event stages and all challenges outside of last one. Now that I got a lot of E2s, Masteries and more experience, beating maps is so much easier. Last one is still pretty darn hard. I liked my clear of FA-5 CM, so decided to record it.

I wouldn't mind Surt, but also she isn't must have for me. I was much more interested in April, since she's a fast-rede sniper, so combination of my 2 favorite elements + pseudo-invisibility is great as well. But of course, the guarantee 5 star (which was last) was Istina that would be great if not for the fact, I didn't use her in ages. At least got 2 copies of Arene (from 6 4 stars i dropped in total, so as usually 4 stars are the hardest to get). So overall got the 1 operator I cared about the least. At least it was withing my expectations, as I expected nothing stare

Majority of manhwa on unofficial sites are rips of official scans, though some groups do TL it themselves. I also read a bit of this particular story on mangadex. I had some issues with premise itself, but characters were very likeable.

Finally E2'd my Ch'en. Working on mastering her S2 rn.

I didn't farm 4-8 for grindstone in ages, so decided to redo my old auto and see how many operators I need to do it now. It feels really strange that before I needed entire team, but now I managed to beat it with 3 and half operators. E2s/Masteries and experience really makes a difference.

Gj! I still didn't beat H6-4. I just hate freeze. I cheesed FN in 6-16 with Apple Pie, so I don't have a lot of practice with dealing with her normally. When I tried H6-4 few times, didn't even figure out a good setup for normal mobs yet and then we got CC etc. so didn't really return to trying it yet.

On Mangadex there was also translation note in description, which not sure where put here, that word home in Japanese, can mean both home and family, so you could understand title as "In a Family Where Lilies Bloom" and last sentence would be "Welcome to our family".

Actually on Mangadex translator (I think) mentioned the similarity, but considering other work gives no names and there's no mention of them having a kid there, it's unclear w/e it's side-story/spin-off or if author just used very similar designs for parents.
