Maybe it’s because I read it all in one sitting but I liked this story a lot. Kotori, Sotoka, Chika, Shiori, and Hiwa are all interesting characters that have multifaceted personalities, and we get to see each of them interacting with and learning from one another.

Seeing Kotori’s (and to a lesser extent Hiwa’s) development throughout the series as she tries to understand human emotions is really interesting direction to go. Seeing her go from being innocent and pretty much an air head to being a little more aware of her own feelings and struggling with relationships that can’t be mended and jealousy is fascinating to see.

It’s hard to say that any one character is the protagonist, they all just happen to be living in the same time and place and we see them all interact for the short window of time the manga reveals.

Wow I’m actually really into this, seems like a fun series. I hope we get more, but I understand it might take a while with all the translating of wordplay. The translation was really good!

I think that there’s definitely evidence of Maki and Hanayo having pretty clear feelings for each other, but it would be nice to have a chapter devoted to Maki/Hanayo stuff mixed in too, to lessen the “Rin’s harem” vibes

It would be both hilarious and tragic if Asumi met Mai and realized that she wanted to continue sleeping with 150 women a night.

Mai would have been the pretext for a deep bias toward promiscuity.

Maybe not so hilarious.

Why would Mai care she literally works as a lesbian sex worker and the “150 women a night” are her friends and coworkers. Even if Asumi wanted to keep hiring more escorts and Mai wanted to keep working as a sex worker that would literally be fine.

There's just nothing here to hold on to; it's about a relationship that barely exists and two people who seem to be pretty happy with it that way.

Seems to sum up what this story is all about.

Which I don't think is a bad thing? The main message is that they still care about each other, appreciate each other, think of each other, but they don't always need to be around each other or always talking. I think the relationship humble and wholesome.

I think that's a large part of what these last few chapters have been trying to get across: Their relationship doesn't have a lot of the hallmarks you'd expect from a traditional marriage, because they're not trying to fit into a mold. Karumi's personality type and work don't really fit well into a ... let's call it a Hallmark marriage, since that's what people seem to be expecting. Trying to constrain her to one probably wouldn't end well, regardless of who it's with, but Ruriko doesn't seem to place much value on those things either, so giving them to her wouldn't be a real benefit.

Instead, what we're seeing is them creating a structure that works for who they are, rather than what other people expect. Karumi may be physically absent more often, she also frequently thinks of Ruriko and what she would like. More than that a lot of what we see is her subtly attempting to make their time together more meaningful or to share things that are important to her, even if this behavior isn't explicitly called out and she doesn't consciously realize she's doing it.

Take Ruriko's walk home, this chapter, as an example. It's filled with memories of Karumi excitedly sharing something with her, despite the other girl not being there. You could view those scenes as showing how head-over-heals she is for Karumi, while Karumi is only focused on things she likes, but I don't think that really lines up with thoughts like "Just by walking around, I get little bits and pieces of the world Karumi-san lives in. It's a really lovely feeling."

Karumi engages with the world in a way most people don't and she brings a lot of that back to Ruriko, because she wants to share her experiences with the person she cares about. She tells Ruriko about the book and the movie, not because she enjoyed them, but because she things Ruriko will too and because she wants to have that shared experience with her. She tells Ruriko that she's craving curry not because she wants to eat some — she's more capable of eating out on her own —, but because she want to eat curry with Ruriko.

Yes! This is exactly what the whole story is about.

I’m surprised this story is getting so much hate because this is a website devoted to WLW fiction so getting caught up on heteronormative ideals of what marriage means feels... kinda silly

Is there any chance that we can get a “long strip”/webtoon button for series? We’ve been getting more long strip stuff recently and it would be nice to have the option to read it as one cohesive strip like mangadex would do. If it can’t be done then no biggie, thanks for the time

This looks cute, but I've never really liked these long strip comics. I find them hard to read for some reason.

Same here. They always strike me as an excuse to get away with not doing proper page layouts.

Just as with traditional manga the way the panelling and composition draw the eye in this vertical format is an art unto itself. When utilized properly it flows incredibly well, particularly for action sequences, but like with traditional manga, only a few artists have really mastered how to properly integrate the structure of the media into synergizing with the flow and impact of their work.

Thanks. This got me thinking; that may have been one of the reasons I liked Fluttering Feelings so much.

The most annoying thing about the vertical format is all of the masterful art composition in the world is worth nothing if you can't get the thing to fit on your screen at the proper magnification that it's meant to be read at. I have a super widescreen laptop I use most of the time and I swear it fights me tooth and nail when it comes to trying to get these types of manhwa to display as the artist intended them to be read.

One of the good things about using a desktop, is that if you're spending an evening reading manga or comics, you can tilt your screen. The wider the screen the better

Long strip comics are best when its read all as one long page on a mobile device. These are designed for that, and my best experiences with long strip stuff is using mangadex on a tablet. I personally haven’td very many bad long strip comics, even slice of life still looks good and works well.

There's currently four more doujins in this series that haven't been scanlated, for those curious:

There's also a spin-off of sorts involving a futanari Rin, for those into that: https://www.pixiv.net/user/73663/series/48370

Someone please translate this, I am dying for more poly content after the ending of An Introduction to Love Triangles

It’s cute that they’re both thinking of each other all the time even while apart. It looks like Ruriko has had more of an impact on Kurumi than she may think. I hope that we get to see Kurumi slowly letting Ruriko into more parts of her life, while keeping up her personal hobbies. Kinda like How Rin from yuru camp started to enjoy camping with friends because of Nadeshiko, but still enjoys solo camping too. There can be room for doing stuff alone and together.

Thank you very much to the Asian Scanlation Sensation(s) for allowing us to host this! Been wanting to get it here for a long while. Fun and cute series, whose proper serialization just started a week ago. Looking forward to more soon.

I saw them uploading new chapters on cubari.moe and they had said they weren’t sure what to do since mangadex was down so I suggested they try out dynasty.

Glad the series got on here, it’s a fun little meta comedy

i like this manga a lot, most magical girl parodies/satire/deconstruction go the shameless gross over the top ecchi or the horror aspect (which basically only madoka has done well), so a comedy is nice to see. i also love chunnibyou characters so that's the cherry on top

Have you read Machikado Mazoku? I think you’d like it

I kinda like the fact that Ataru is looking quite average. Not ugly, not cute. Just normal.

She's not goth but I think her looks are in a similar vein as to why I find goths hot. Also freckles are something I always love seeing on characters. She's not sexualized or cutesy, but she's still got hot points to people like myself.

Ataru's look is classic 90s dyke (to watch out for) to my eyes – the short, messy hair, the understated, serious glass frames, the casual jeans + shirt combos. I don't think she looks plain at all. Especially next to moe blobbish characters like Wanko, she really stands out. Somebody with her sense of style would have been a classic ladykiller in San Francisco in the 90s / 00s.

Her relationship with Kyouko is also very SF 90s and 00s, but in a different way. Good luck, Ataru! You're gonna need it!

Yeah she’s not average at all imo, just older than most of the other characters. I get what you mean about the 90s look, she’s not your typical moe style character but she’s definitely hot in a different kind of way.

That comment wondering if Suika really is the enemy is interesting, I’m also wondering if cleaning out all the gunk in her heart would work...

But, she’s been a genocidal demon killer for a while now, there’s really no way to forgive that. I can’t see her ever being incorporated into the friend group all casually. Especially with Momo’s trauma from her. Honestly, after what Momo did to her, is she even a human(?) anymore?

We did see from the flashback Metako showed that Suika was allied with Sakura at least once, and that she seemed to like Sakura a lot, so I wonder if Sakura’s core being inside Shamiko will be an important component in this conflict.

One last thing, throughout this chapter we saw what were presumably internal monologue bubbles with a light colored border, is that Sakura speaking a few words to Shamiko here and there? Back when we met Sakura inside Shamiko’s subconsciousness she spoke using similar looking text bubbles...

This kinda reminds me of Avatar, where Aang was faced with confronting Ozai and whether to kill him or not.

I used to find futanari really off-putting, but vanilla stuff like this really gave me an appreciation for it. I think the most succinct way to put it is "yuri, but one of the girls just happens to have a dick."

It’s like fantasy trans lesbians but not really... well this story is actually pretty much 1:1 with regular trans lesbians.
