I see someone has really low opinion of therapists.

And how exactly she would become stronger? By magic? Usually it's not easy to just go and change yourself by yourself. Most people need some kind of help. People supporting and pushing you to get better. Like some kind of... therapy.

Hmm where are the parents/teachers/any adult in this situation? I think writing for someone to kill themselves on table would warrant severe consequences? If you are going to make a "drama" one-shot at least make it somewhat believable holy lmao

That's your standard bullying in Japan that is most of the times ignored, because it's easier. Students are stressed already and need something to vent it on so it works for group as a whole and teachers wouldn't want to risk making it a big deal, by letting people outside of school, parents, police and media learning about it. It would ruin schools reputation.

Pff. We are at volume 12.

It's actually matter of what Dynasty will upload here. Dynasty policy is, we upload stuff until copyright owner tell us to take it down, like it happened with some series like most of Morinaga stuff. So while some groups will drop a project because it was licensed, Dynasty will usually keep on uploading it, until it'll be specifically told not to, in order to avoid legal issues. So some series that got licensed and are marked as such on site, can be still uploaded as long as someone is working on them and nobody is complaining about it.

Yes, but you can't say all people are ever motivated by is just looking better. And even if you're just doing it for yourself, you can still do it because you subconsciously link looking better with being treated better, because of how integrated it's in our culture.

Why rough?

I also want to max out my skills since I have like 50 lores, QP hell is rough.

Lol xD I spend all my lores ages ago and actually need to be more careful with them now. I was in QP hell at some points, but thanks to events and lotteries, I pretty much don't need to farm mats since ages, so I was just spaming doors for a long time.

I totally forgot last time...
Welp, I did everything else so.

Rye, I feel your pain. Tama ignored me too.

I rolled 2 tickets I got from event on her second banner, got usual trash. Decided to do 1 single quartz roll to see if I'll get lucky and immediately I got gold sparkles. Is it it? Nope, np2 Kiritsugu. I made 3 more single rolls but no luck so I stopped. It's annoying but in the end I'm happy overall, because I lvl'ed up Kiri and used him to farm Red Oni and I'm really happy with his performance so I'm glad I np2 him. So in the end I don't feel like those rolls were that bad.

Red cards for red oni right-Wait no, hold up! Since when do you have Jack?

I made 30 rolls on Seraph rolling for Suzuka. She spooked me in my first 10 rolls. I wouldn't mind Melt, but honestly I probably preferred to drop Jack. Also it's funny I dropped her instead of Melt since they're both quick servants with very similar roll and play style. My next 10 rolls were terrible and then in my last 10 rolls I finally dropped Suzuka. Also dropped plenty of CEs, but only 2 from rate up and I actually really wanted to LB that 4 star one...

I ended up throwing away 16 tickets rolling for cow mama and got 15 3* as usual :/

I ended up spending 50 tickets for Tamamo, but she hates me and of course I didn't drop her. Dropped like 20 CEs, only 5 being rate up (and the ones I dropped weren't really good anyway). Dropped second copy of Martha (lol), third copy of Emiya (I knew I'll drop servant I wanted the least from rate up) and literally with my last ticket I dropped Kiritsugu. So yea rate up is a lie and banners only exist to crash your hopes and dreams.

Didn't feel like commenting about it, but saying "if you don't like TL, read it in original" is the worst way to defend translation. People read translations, because they can't read original, but they still expect to get the same experience as native readers. So telling them if they want "more Japanese-ish" they should read original is the same as telling them, "TL made a shitty job at conveying the feel of original work" (or they didn't try to do it in the first place, which is another whole topic). I understand some localization is unavoidable or sometimes even necessary, but the entire point of good translation is finding balance.

Obnoxious as it is, "if you don't like it, go learn Japanese" is a pretty fair response to comments like "this is overly localized." Readers can and should demand accuracy, and translators should respond to legitimate criticism by fixing mistakes (in general, I think most of us do correct errors when they're pointed out). But saying something is "overly localized" is not all all constructive. It reveals nothing about the translation, only that the complainant doesn't know what localization means.

Except I never complained it was "overly localized" or anything like that. Someone said it felt kinda western, so I offered a explanation why it could be so. I didn't comment whatever it's good or bad thing or whatever this specific translation done it well or not. I simply stated a fact as a explanation of someone's inquiry. So when another person comments to this "you want more Japanese-ish read the original", then it is obnoxious. Because they completely missed the point.

Just to illustrate it further, when I was saying "but saying "if you don't like TL, read it in original" is the worst way to defend translation." I meant translations in general, not just localization. For this person it clearly wasn't even about whatever it's overly localized or not. It could be anything, from it having rewrites or it just not being translated accurately. They just liked this specific translation, regardless of how faithful it's to source material, so they understandably were afraid of any drastic changes to it. Again, I never said they were wrong about feeling that way, just the way they chose to defend it, was the worst way possible.

I was talking about how translation is supposed to work in general and why some people can find issues with it, but I also specifically added "(or they didn't try to do it in the first place, which is another whole topic)" part, because I do not think Sexy Akiba Detectives are doing "a shitty job at conveying the feel of original work". I and many other people are not fans of localizations. That does not mean, they're inherently bad or worthless. Even added jokes and references can make work better (though then we go into discussion of whatever you translate author's work or want to make your own, which is yet another whole other topic). I might not be fan of it, but I do understand value of it and that some other people might like or even prefer it that way. That's why I actually think Akiba are doing great job on it. Regardless of faithfulness to source material and all that stuff, their translations are great to read and flow well. So at no point I'd ever tell them to stop doing it. If there's no other translation available, I'd probably go and really read original if I wanted to read it in the "more Japanese-ish" way. But again, not everyone is able to do it, which is kinda the whole point of this pointless conversation. If someone had brought up actual issues and critic of translation and actually point out every single localization they don't agree with, that person would still tell them to shut up and just go read original, if they don't like it, which not everyone can.

And last thing, I specifically chose word "heavily" and not anything else like "overly", because it does make a difference.

Thanks for wasting my time. Again, why I even bother writing anything, when most of the time people will completely miss my point and I'll have to waste thrice as much time explaining myself again and even then often they still don't get it or just never reply.

Nothing wrong with that, this translation it's awesome, you want more Japanese-ish read the original ...

I despise the patronizing tone with that last part of the post. As if it's easy to learn how to read Japanese; the average Japanese person needs to learn about TWO-TO-THREE THOUSAND kanji just for everyday use, with an additional few thousand more for occasional use. Unlike native Japanese people, we do not have the benefit of having been learning the language from a very young age and over the course of a decade and a half.

Didn't feel like commenting about it, but saying "if you don't like TL, read it in original" is the worst way to defend translation. So I'd never stick around to see the girl I'm into being all lovey dovey with someone else... At least for me it's a matter of self-respect lol Which is apparently what Sayaka lacks, since she is going to keep being friends with Touko despite crushing on the girl for what seems like years.

matsuri_wins posted:

If you had a genuine friendship with someone before you ever liked them, I understand sticking around out of fear of losing that precious feeling, though I still wouldn't recommend; because let's face it, there is plenty of people out there to be purely platonic friends with.

Your posts are full of statements like that, clearly panting the "ditch someone you supposedly care about and find someone else to replace them" as the only real solution and anything else is just not caring about your well-being and self-respect. So yea. At no point you agreed other option is valid, but you personally disagree with it. You were constantly saying your option is better and Sayaka is stupid for not choosing it.

matsuri_wins posted:

Of course it doesn’t meant that every time, but is usually associated with being an orbiter and taking longer to get over that person. The person usually values you less also, because they think you are doing stuff because you like them.

Well. Sounds like you either have really poor understanding of how friendship works or all relationships you were in, were really shallow. Either way, no, that's not how it's. Or I guess it doesn't always happen. It's not like once you confess and get rejected, people automatically think everything you do is out of love or value you less because of it.
