Shioriko's dynamic with Lanzhu from at least parts of SIFAS reminded me somewhat of Dia's with Mari (or, less directly, Umi's with Honoka) — the [childhood] friend who's being dragged into things, but doesn't actually dislike being dragged that much — so I could sort of see it. But it's much easier to ship in the anime.

As an unrepentant multishipper, I'm only going to question Ayumu being the one who calls it a date. See, there's a Daily Theatre episode (http://sifasdt.waxwolf.com/?date=2022-03-27) which has her momentarily panic when Ruby innocently uses the word "date" to refer to Ayumu and her childhood friend having desserts at a cafe.

(The anime did many things, but I wouldn't say "made it clear" is one of them. That said, I lean towards the interpretation given by SIFAS chapter 41, where Lanzhu declares the club members are all in an open relationship, and Kasumi claims they all agreed not to get too far ahead in their relationship with Yuu/the PC.)

It makes a certain amount of sense for Lanzhu, actually — you could spin her as having a pretty sheltered upbringing (compare to Maki, who still believes in Santa), and she's definitely had exactly one real friend growing up, from whom she's often been separated. You can fairly easily construct a view of Lanzhu where her isolation has left her very innocent and ignorant.

That said, it is a bit exploitative to launch into sex with someone who didn't know about it previously. Informed consent, 'kay?

It's a great pairing. They're adorable.

(Though I'm personally the sort that takes the referred-to bond episode as OT3 fodder; it's literally Y: "You sure do love Ayumu, huh?" S: "Um, now that you say it, yeah..." A: "I won't let you keep Shioriko to yourself!" Y:"I'll just have to hog you both.")

But of course communication and love are difficult. It's a very believable situation, and well-realized.

They're all in the same school year, which means they're all the same age when the school year starts: April. So in their 20th year, Mari turns 20 in June, then the New Year rolls around and Dia turns 20, and then Kanan turns 20 in February.

Ah, yes, the second dual identity shenanigan: being in a love triangle with yourself.

Exactly. The game has a school idol infrastructure that's not wholly focused on the Love Live, so Shioriko's sister-induced school idol trauma played out differently; anime!Lanzhu came into a NijiGaku that didn't have her childhood friend as a school idol and student council president (and hit her friendlessness despair point earlier).

But back to Nijiyon — I love the concert report! Seeing the call and responses, the capsule reviews of everybody's solos; so great, and so nice to look back on these girls just starting out, from a time when their second anime season is close to wrapping up.

EDIT: Following up on 4.5 — boy, just when I figured Nijigasaki shipping had settled down, we sure launch some ShizuMia, don't we?

It's probably a much safer act for dragons; when your digestive tract is adapted for literal fire (and, more seriously, when you're incapable of being sick), someone else's gut flora in the wrong place isn't a big deal.

(On the other hand, Kobayashi could be in trouble, for exactly the same reason; the kind of microbes that could colonize a dragon might give a flimsier person some serious trouble.)
