^^ agree, before the 2nd season, I never seriously considered them as a romantic couple but anime made a pretty good job adding ton of cute moments between these two. Love the artist, they carry this ship real hard

Shioriko's dynamic with Lanzhu from at least parts of SIFAS reminded me somewhat of Dia's with Mari (or, less directly, Umi's with Honoka) — the [childhood] friend who's being dragged into things, but doesn't actually dislike being dragged that much — so I could sort of see it. But it's much easier to ship in the anime.
