@FluffyCow yeah, and something else I've just been thinking about as well is that in CCC when you're going into the Secret Gardens you can find out a character's fetish, and for BB it's eyes. I don't think they mean like eyeballs, but more like, "what the object of your desire is looking at." I think BB has some inner insecurities about being broken and unwanted, and what she really wants in the end is for the person she acknowledges to look at her, to pay attention to her. I think she has the whole, "Lastboss kouhai" thing to command people's planning, thoughts and attentions, so I can totally see how if that is freely given, she would feel like she doesn't need to manipulate to get the things she needs, or create a crisis to demand someone's quality time and attention, and instead would seek them out to give them her bullying, demanding love.

I’m really glad you made this comment, because I didn’t realize how deep and specific this distortion of self-worth is. Like she’s specifically twisted around whether she can have the things she wants vs. whether “princesses” get them.

This makes me especially worried about the implications of Fujishiro taking the friends comment as “I don’t see her as someone who can be more.”

Kurokawa is coming from the angle of, “girls like me don’t deserve to be with girls like her.” If Fujishiro responds to this through distancing herself, or closing off opportunities for them to get closer, it’s going to reinforce this framework and push them even farther apart. I can already forsee a, “oh you should just go with this otaku guy that likes you, haha.” which would not only be destructive to Kurokawa by seeming like an external confirmation of the class difference between them, but she also prob wouldn’t fight back against it because she already sees it as a law of the world, a confirmation of her belief that she couldn’t get with Fujishiro.

To me this seems like a dark fantasy scenario, not a representation of BDSM. It depicts overcoming the shame and stigma that keep you from recognizing, speaking up about, or acting on your sadism through being seduced by a close friend you’re attract to into giving her pain. To me it reads like a classic fantasy of repression—like, “what would happen if I just let myself explode and expose this hidden part of me to someone who would encourage or welcome it.” It’s even got the, “I couldn’t help myself” feature, too, that’s supposed to sort of take away your responsibility, abstract yourself from the guilt so you can process the desire.

I find it appealing on that level, and frankly kind of hot, though I am still put off by the lack of consent, invitation, discussion, etc. that are needed to safely and healthily explore these spaces. While the manga treats on some level some of the headspaces associated with BDSM, specifically just with sadism and masochism, it does not at all represent the actual practice or approach to it. Which is fine, because this work isn’t about communicating, discussing, and respecting boundaries in a safe and healthy relationship—it’s about desires bursting the dam of repression, and there’s room for that.

However, given how misunderstood BDSM is, and how much this aligns with many peoples’ negative stereotypes and imaginings of what scenes or relationships look like—frankly, assault and abuse—I think giving it the BDSM tag on this site is deeply irresponsible.

I also really really like when people show BB going on the offensive directly. It’s so different from how she normally is, where she’ll set up a whole big scenario and then tease and torment you as you work your way towards her. This and the other BB image with the tentacles—she’s still got that teasing, in-control energy, but it’s like her desire is overcoming her own limits and she’s pursuing the things she wants directly. Given the pattern in her Bond 5 lines it makes me think of Gudako being kind, patient, and connected to her to the point that it overcomes her carefully-maintained sense of detachment. IDK it’s just really appealing to me.

(Ch. 11.2) Aaaanyways, to go back to substantively discussing the manga—it really does seem like Dolores is using Maria’s desire and need for blood as a tool to keep her compliant. I think in Shanon we’ve seen what happens when somebody emotionally attaches themself to Dolores on a deep level, and it’s not pretty.

Right now their (Dolores and Maria’s) dynamic is obviously unhealthy, but I’m not sure how much this manga is going to treat things seriously—it is kinda all about dark flamboyance, after all. However, I think we’re getting a hint of what’s to come with that slap—it looks like Maria is taking a bit more of a level and human perspective into their interaction, and Dolores is intentionally changing the topic to remove the possibility of discussion. Given the type of manga this is and the type of character Maria is, I predict we might see a scene at some point where Maria dramatically refuses to be seduced away from telling Dolores what’s up—and then maybe an angst explosion, or something.

It’s really hard to predict not just what will happen but even the type of course their relationship will take. At some level I feel like their relationship doesn’t have the same consistency that the plot does—but I’m not sure if that’s really the case, or if it’s Just supposed to be messy. Any thoughts?

This whole thing really makes me wish more artists would have the guts to work with established relationships. There’s so much more potential to yuri than just the same, “here’s how these people got into a relationship” thing. Real relationships expand, evolve, enter new territory and new feelings, and I love that this story explores that.

I’ve also never seen anything as horny and SFW simultaneously. Like, the tiny hint of the top of cleavage during the selfie chapter is the only sort of T&A we’ve gotten, and it’s all just to service what’s happening emotionally and mentally. I feel like a fuckin’ Victorian popping off at the sight of some exposed ankle, it’s crazy. This author really understand the truth of that old cliche that “the brain is the largest erogenous zone,” or however that goes. Anyway, what I mean to say is,

(Ch. 9) This is literally all of my favorite shit together. Kiara Sessyoin-lookin’, lust-driven, charismatic and two-faced lady who has deep mental issues and some sweetness hidden beneath, partnering up with ragged, rough, but ultimately vulnerable fighter. Vampire shit, with the human on top using the tough girl’s needs to seduce her past her own sexual and emotional barriers. Long-term, mysterious plot in a dark and dramatic atmosphere. Literally everything about knight lady.

And it doesn’t do that, “oh sorry we just have to imply sexy stuff” bullshit that so many manga do. It’s like, there’s this encompassing background of horniness that doesn’t have so many artificial limits, but also adds color and depth to the fucked-up-ness and animal appeal of the story. And there’s a certain queer quality to it even though it has a lot of T&A—it’s about the smoldering, the dark eyes, the decadence of it all, which is just... mmf.

Can we talk about how the “doggy” thing looks like it’s not just a gag, and Dorothy is actually conditioning Maria to obey her and even get horny on command by calling her “good girl” when she feeds, and how that’s hot as fuck? And how the author seems to actually know what direction they’re taking both the wider plot and the relationship? Have y’all considered how satisfying it will be when Maria’s feelings build up to a point she can’t control them, and she gives in to the desire for physical and emotional connection that Dorothy is methodically stoking in her? I know I have. And I just found this manga today!

I am literally so hype for this. My only concern is that this seems like complete cancel bait. I would stab someone as sacrifice to ensure this doesn’t get canceled.

Yatsude probably hung out with Fuji, who is the most predictable person on the planet, and somehow convinced herself that she's a mastermind because Fuji constantly asks her for advice. Now that she'd dealing with some real insanity, she's pissed at her lack of insight, and further annoyed by how Fuji and Tsubaki are both growing their friend circles. Therefore, Yatsude's tendency to randomly grab everything within sight is actually a coping mechanism that she uses to deal with all her friends eventually leaving her behind. She's lesbian Barney Stinson, y'all.

(Ch. 73) This post was from a few chapters back and it’s startlingly prescient. Our wallflower solved the equation pretty much instantly here, where the past couple chapters’ detective work failed—I think she’s like the only character with any emotional intelligence.
