Throbelisk, frankly I don't think it's appropriate to carry on when someone is clearly attempting to disengage. Especially given the finality of that disengagement.

This manga contains doses of Het, lesbians, asexual people and who knows, probably even more diversity in the future. These are so sparse as story elements that they will be tagged for their specifically notable chapters, but otherwise will likely remain untagged...I think.

The discussion continued afterwards because Kirin started a debate about it before immediately saying that they would not start a debate about it. It was an attempt to get the last word in and make it so that only their viewpoint was heard.

Given the deteriorating tenor of discourse, I think both of you had plenty of opportunities after that point to disengage.

It was fine until Alice popped in after the discussion had already reached its natural conclusion, with people actually agreeing, and unnecessarily shut down the topic by endorsing one of the sides of the argument. If she was legitimately interested in ending the discussion, it doesn't make sense to include such an incendiary comment saying that the other side is right (after, I might add, that we managed to come to agreement otherwise). That is what I was disappointed with.

This is on topic "to the site," but hardly to this manga. The average reader of this particular forum is likely to glaze over these posts, given their apparent lack of relevance in this thread. Worse, they're especially unlikely to post any new or interesting comment when seeing walls of text about politics. Debates of this nature are better kept in the Cafe, the Their Story thread, or in a new thread meant for the sake of discussing these points.

It's a bit unfair to say that people can make false claims about a country in random discussion threads but that they're not allowed to be rebutted

This is not what happened. You were allowed to engage freely with three separate individuals on your points of contention. Your earlier posts were left fully intact, for all to see. I'm quite certain that in this instance, every side was given a "fair" hearing for their views.

I'm not sure how recently you mean. Though, it does seem likely that as the internet has become more visibly diverse & politicized, debates about those issues have grown in a lot of unexpected places. Surely Dynasty is no exception, and I doubt this trend will be stopping anytime soon. (Probably goes doubly in 2020 due to all the stuff that happened there)
