I always thought the differentiation for this tag was to include the character in its consideration. i.e. the story takes a dark turn and we get to see the character suffering from emotional overload, which we often call angst. Sasameki Koto and Octave are pretty great examples of the tag being earned, by this definition. But nowadays I read a lot of stories where Aaaaaangst is just used like an upgraded version of Drama. Seems that it doesn't really matter if the characters suffer at all or not, so long as the audience [seems] meant to.

So, which is the correct form of use, if there is one?

In spite of the dark tag and subject matter, this was actually really cute and funny! The whole scene of Hina chasing Nao was like the epitome of laugh-crying. I think I could relate to most of the characters in this, too. And what gorgeous and expressive art! Pheww.

Amazing story, and what a wonderful job on the translation. This is the kind of thing that got me into manga in the first place, it's way too rare. Thanks so much for sharing!

Yeah, pretty much that.

Though, I feel like the people who are after "realism" would have at least half a dozen problems besides the amount of lesbians in any given work. Especially considering that the more realistic, grounded yuri out there tends to have wider casts with supposedly proportional identities. There are also plenty of ways to justify a mainly LGBT cast in a supposedly realistic world, so even on that point it seems a matter of execution rather than simply "the number of lesbians."

I'm the Main Character of a Harem Manga, but I'm Gay so Every Day is Hell for Me is the one you mention.

It's totally 50/50, but I think one of the three here may also be relevant.

It's just a personal favour, since the chapters readily available on the internet aren't the best handled. The difference between the two versions is readily apparent, given the Tapas title translation is "Wish You Were Gone," which appears at the top of every page. Thanks!

Err, no, I don't think it's the same. Pressuring young people into doing things they don't want to - notice if they wanted to, you wouldn't have to pressure them - then profiting off of that coercion, seems rather different than a fully consensual financial transaction. (Though, I don't think the situation gets much better if there's no profit involved.)

Thanks so much to Hi Wa Mata Noboru and Midnight Children for their work on this, and allowing us to share it! Very interesting start.

I always really liked this artist's art and depiction. This just hits so deep. Maybe it's totally down to the technical side of things, but intense violence in manga rarely rings much to me comparatively.
