Cute chapter, I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have the song 'That Smell' by Lynyrd Skynyrd in my head while I'm trying to read it. It's a great song but not for reading manga about cute girls.

Man, to think I started reading this in my 1st year of high school and now I'm a senior... This may not exactly be what people mean when they say "I grew up with this manga" (I mean, just look at One Piece fans), but it kinda feels like it to me.

Look up Aa,Megami-sama by Koske Fujishima at how long that ran. I was still in high school when it started and I had finished military service and was working a job when it had finished. Even that wasn't setting any records.

Basically, Aya had regarded the record store as 'their' place, a space in which she and Koga could appreciate music uninhibited and the latter could dress and act how she preferred. Koga has been being more open with such things in school, and so didn't really think much of sharing that space with the sudden tide of girls *wanting to be her friend (*read: swooning over her). It's a pretty standard jealously thing. She already had competition for Koga at school, now she'll be having competition at the record store. No one likes having to strike down interlopers making moves on their oblivious crush 24/7.

But I’m pretty sure Aya also resents being lumped in with the kouhai as one of many “visitors to the store” rather than one of the “store family” and Mitsuki’s “special friend.” As you say, it’s “their place,” but the way Mitsuki says, “You can come with them” doesn’t acknowledge that special relationship.

In context, a kind of horrifyingly “anti-progress” response, actually.

It would read better if Mitsuki were actually honest about why she said that to Aya. She views Aya as a safety blanket, like a cuddly teddy bear that calms her nerves. If she'd just said something like, "These girls are coming by the store and I'm super nervous--could you tag along and help me through that day?" It would have landed better.

The way she phrased it made Aya feel like an add-on, on top of their "place" not being as special anymore. Mitsuki needs to stop thinking about these things and speak. It would be an easy fix if she did (especially since Mitsuki seems to recognize Aya was put off), but I don't expect that. She instead thinks about wanting Aya as her comfort, instead of saying that to Aya. She would perk up immediately if Mitsuki clarified.

It strikes me as this situation is the 'BAD SIDE' of not being hyper self-absorbed. Mitsuki just doesn't see herself as all that great and unfortunately she doesn't realize how much hurt she unintentionally dishes out. Even worse, if someone tried to honestly tell her about the reality of things, she'd NEVER believe it. Not because she's down on herself, but because she's a decent human being.

This felt like a BAD ENDING was coming, particularly when I remembered how long ago the original story was done and how long serval cats live. I am SOOOOOOOO glad I was wrong. I actually teared up a little when Kaban stopped writing entries. Only thing worse than getting old is being reminded how old you're getting, and this kinda did that to me.

I have a 2 shirts and each one is exactly like each half of her shirt. Each one is a good looking shirt on it's own, but I've NEVER thought about cutting them in half then sewing them together. Guess I'm not fashionable either.

True grit was actually a big inspiration for me when it came to making this comic. I watched both the old and the new. The new one got me hooked on the idea of incorporating the western slang in the speech.

You picked a great movie as inspiration. Good thing you didn't use the Wild Bunch instead, awesome movie but over the top for a manga.

Aside from the yuri, I would REALLY love if the author would mention the recent announcement of Aerosmith ending touring (because of Steven Tyler's voice giving way). Joe would go into mourning, Mitsuki would be bummed, and even Aya would be bummed after doing some research into the band. Then the friend group would be curious why they're so emotional about a group that got big in 1970.

Yeah, but WHICH game did she pause? It's one thing if it's Smash Bros and it's something else if it's Mario Party on a private server.

My interpretation is that the change happened because Aya defended her publicly. If you compare it to Rhythm B, her friend then defended her at first but ultimately couldn't take the pressure and abandoned Mitsuki. Aya, on the other hand, not only was defending Mitsuki, but also understood immediately what was fucked up about it, and was ready to throw hands for her. For Mitsuki this has been building the entire time she's known Aya. Aya has been constantly confirming how much she likes Mitsuki as she is and wants her in her life. Chapter 74 was big for her when she really felt publicly not alone anymore, but there wasn't a conflict like the previous chapter. Seeing Aya defend her when she is in conflict with others is monumental for Mitsuki.

She not only comes in wearing what she wants, black nail polish like she wants, but she also mentions her uncle's store, her safe place, to the class. She's opening up in a way she never has before because Aya has made her feel safe.

I don't know if you're right, but I really like your thought process and I hope that IS how it is.

The extra was cute, and was nice to read. In reality though, if people did that, I would imagine that the target of that celebration would eventually get royally pissed thinking that they're being bullied or mocked. Maybe I'm just to cynical, who knows.

Damn, with an entrance like that, Aya's gonna have a whole gang of girlies trying to compete to get at Mitsuki A.K.A The Rizzler or maybe The Rizz Master. Onii-san just doesn't have the same punch like it used to.

That is MY only real complaint about the story, since such blatant discrimination wouldn't be socially or economically viable in the long run which has been proven multiple times historically to the point that I can't think of a feasible scenario in how such a society with that kind of discrimination could be recreated.

It should be explained later on, they didn't show the full prologue or else the manga readers would know that there's something up, but Terra and Diode have a talk about the past that Terra wasn't aware of

I gotta stop listening to anime music when reading manga cause some times it fits just to well. Right when I clicked on the second page of chapter 94 the Pillar Man theme 'Áwaken' came up in the rotation, and it felt just right. Good thing her uncle wasn't there, or he might have chosen violence. After seeing Mitsuki shedding tears I'm not gonna say that's wrong, but it wouldn't have been good.

Tsundere is cute on little girls but once you hit your teens it's just a pain in everybody's @ss. Either that or I'm just getting old.

I was thinking the same, but it makes sense. The reason we easily assume future civilisations must be more tolerant, is because most people making and consuming science fiction tend to be progressive, this creates the expectation that as civilisations improve technologically, they also improve socially.

But unfortunately that's not the case, you could still have an oppressive society figure out space travel.

I slightly disagree with you in how an oppressive society could figure out and sustain space travel. Mainly in how it would have to be economically viable to be sustainable, and even we Earth - bound critters have figured out that women can make and spend money and invent ways to do both just as well as men can. I don't dismiss that there are some idiots who still maintain and perpetuate such stupidity but reality tends to weed out those idiots in due time. It's been a great while since a manga page has irritated me quite this much. Not because of the author or her artwork, but for the portrayal of those kids toward Mitsuki. It was accurate how kids in general and teens in particular can be true $hitheads to each other, for no good reason. Being reminded so jarringly how humans behave hurts me a little. I look forward to how the author gets Mitsuki though this impasse, and back to the girls enjoying each other's company with music.

I REALLY wish this were canon. I know it takes a while to build up a story to this level of Yuri, but I still wish this was canon.
