I just read a couple chapters of a funny manga called: YURI IS FORBIDDEN FOR THE YURI OTA!?

The MC is a yuri otaku girl who manages to get accepted into a Marimite-like catholic school for girls (real Marimite-like, with gokigenyou, long skirts, rosaries, soeur system and all the gimmicks). The MC plans to spend the next 3 years watching the interactions of the other students and fangirling over their pure and refined high-class yuri. Sadly, another new student is a TOTAL GYARU (sexy, blonde hair, short skirt, open shirt showing off her boobs, lots of make-up and accesories, carries a cellphone, etc.) who starts corrupting the ojousama-like normal students with her uncouth ways! Thus the MC swears she will protect the purity of the perfect garden of lilies that is this academy! She will get in the gyaru's way and thwart all her plans! Even if she has to become her best friend to do so, lol.

I thought it was pretty amusing. Too bad there are only 2 chapters out.

Let's hope another scanlator picks up this manga.

Huhuhu.
Kurokawa the Princess Worshipper is alive and kicking.

The girl who idolized princesses. Who was the biggest princess otaku ever. Who didn't mind being insulted or bullied by princess-like girls. Who was willing to let 'em have all the good things in life, like the lead role in a school play, simply because that's their rightful lot.

You people had forgotten all about her.

But Ajiichi did not forget.

It seems that, unlike Ayako and Sayaka, this oneechan has already resigned herself to her fate... and will let her imouto do whatever she wants with her.

Takashima Hiromi never fails to put a goofy grin on my face.

I hereby declare these two to be the Kase & Yamada of a parallel world.

There's this comic series called Action Philosophers by Fred van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey; if you have an interest in philosophy it's worth giving it a try, as it's very funny and well-written. Each chapter explains the life and ideas of a different philosopher, with special attention to all the little details that are usually ignored. For example: did you know that Plato was the stage name of a pro wrestler from Aegina whose real name was Aristocles? (Van Lente & Dunlavey draw him as a muscle-bound hulk with a beard and a Mexican wrestler mask, lol.) Two times champ of the Isthmian games, Plato never qualified for the Olympics and his wrestling career went bust. He fell in with Socrates and then with the Pythagorean junkies, and while high on shit he had the revelation of a deeper truth hidden behind the Pythagorean truths: an eternal realm of unchanging forms and pure ideas. At the end of that particular chapter, Van Lente & Dunlavey tell us:

Throbelisk, your story about that professor in your college reminded me of this, haha.

1 1/2 is therefore the purest interpretation of the Bible ever written.

I can find no fault with your theology, sir.

The whole creation of humans story is so ludicrous if you have even the most basic knowledge of genetics.

I mean tbf. According to the eponymous Epic of Gilgamesh was quote two thirds divine and one third mortal unquote; have fun trying to work out THAT math...

That time when he was conceived must've been one hell of a threesome.

He was a physicist too and guessed in 1755 how the solar system formed from a rotating solar nebula.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immanuel_Kant#Early_work lists some of his scientific accomplishments.

To be fair, he pícked most of his astronomy ideas from Pierre Louis Maupertuis, William Derham, Edmond Halley (who gave his name to the comet) and Johannes Hevelius.

Loved the homage to Evangelion. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it.

And with this, the gap is closed.
We can read YuruYuri from chapter 1 to chapter 144 with no breaks.
I've been waiting so long for this moment... ≺sniffle≻
Thanks to the translators, thanks to the editors, thanks to everyone who has been involved in this! You wonderful people are the best!

^ One of my favoritest manga ever is Ayame 14 by Amano Shuninta. If you want happy and funny, it doesn't get better that that. But it's middle school, not high school.

Morishima Akiko has a number of series with a high school setting: Hanjuku Joshi, Motto Hanjuku Joshi and Holy Girl Paradigm. I highly recommend all of them; Morishima is a specialist of happy and fluffy (and at the same time realistic) stories. Hanjuku Joshi and Holy Girl Paradigm have been completed, Motto Hanjuku Joshi (the continuation of HJ) is still running.

I vaguely recall that, once upon a time, Sayaka was indignant at the idea that she would eventually give in to Yuuki's whims if pushed hard enough.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

I'm still with the first statement, i'm kinda tired of the "all main cast are lesbians" trope

No credits joke today, huh?

Well, I guess a social message is more important...

Same thing happens with Haruka, also a gender-neutral name which has been popular for tomboy girl characters at least since Sailor Moon.

Nagisa, another neutral name, worked the same way for boys -- that is, it used to be a popular name for somewhat feminine boy characters -- but lately it might have fallen into that uncomfortable category of oldie names that are out of fashion...

Was this series always so over-the-top?

"Over the top" seems to be Tatsubon's modus operandi

I agree, but I believe "hardboiled" is the author's preferred descriptor.

Huh.

It will be a very long time before we get to this kind of reversal.

Hopefully it'll actually go somewhere.

If Takuya's dad is still around, it'll go NTR.

I surmise that, like Stacy's dad, Takuya's dad walked out long ago -- which means Takuya's mom definitely could use a girl like Yuka in her life. Yup.

All of you going on and on about how lucky Yamada is, but Kase is damn lucky herself quite frankly!

Two people in love are always lucky to find each other. But Yamada was a deeply shy and naive girl with a single friend, while Kase was a sports star and one of the most popular girls in the class if not the school.

So from the outside, Yamada was the lucky one.

From the outside

To Kase though Yamada is like Aphrodite birthed from sea foam
She's like a total inspiration to Kase and also the first person to actually really get close to her and love her

Oh, no doubt--people might forget that in the first series the two of them were head over heels for each other from day one--from well before that for Kase-san, in fact.

I agree with all of the above, except that, rather than Aphrodite, I'd say that Yamada is to Kase like Chloris, Antheia, Aphaea or maybe one of the Anthousai. She's all about flowers and agriculture, after all.

I myself would pick Chloris, because her lover was the wind... and we know that lesbian tomboy track athletes all have this wish to become the wind, right?

Nop, that doesn't work for me. Youko was and stay a bitch for me. I can never come to like this story because she wasn't necessary in the first place and how poorly the boyfriend is treated. Like, he hasn't done anything wrong at all. I just can't, Youko is a bad character who just want everything and because it's yuri, will get everything because who care about boys in yuri amirite ? Of course people will excuse the cheating here because it's on a boy and with a girl. Double standards i guess.

Because inclusion of stories dealing with evil shall be used or shall be published only where the intent is to illustrate a moral issue and in no case shall evil be presented alluringly, nor so as to injure the sensibilities of the reader, amirite?

Brilliant reply. Let me clap to show my appreciation.

Well, it looks like the scanlators' afterword (in the credits page) is going to be, for every single chapter, a 4 x 10 grid of "Nice."
