You're right, I said things I shouldn't have. I know how nasty TERF lesbians can be; I should've known better. I tend to draw a distinction between "discrimination" and identity/terminology policing, but I suppose in practice there's not much difference.

@eromancer Look man, perhaps in your confusion you're not realizing it, but the manner of writing you wrote your initial posts came off not as confusion but as with some authority. Perhaps you meant it, perhaps you didn't. I'm going to tell you that I was irked all the same. If you intend on engaging for the intent of clarification or further context, I would say you should ask a question rather than providing further statements.

Yeah, I'm starting to realize this. That's just the way I talk, but I guess I need to change it up in this context. I appreciate the constructive criticism.

Also as a side note yes, there are going to be people who embrace certain minority groups and exclude others with prejudice, even if they are also part of an endangered minority group themselves. It's an unfortunate fact of the world we live in.

Yes, that's true--you've got the TERFs and all that. But I wanted to emphasize that it isn't always mean-spirited--one person's inclusion is another person's appropriation. It's something I've noticed as I've wrestled with the frought notion of identity. As progressives we all want to be inclusive, but identities are exclusive by nature (based on mutual life experience), and some groups are very keen to guard them, in some cases understandably, and the terminology around them.

And yeah, I'm mostly an outside observer, because I have relatively few identities and I don't really care much to identify with others based on them. I certainly don't purport to speak for anyone; I only talk about what I observe.

I can definitely relate; I think you menioned Yuru Yuri and the way Akari is always getting treated like crap, which is a central joke of the show. Sometimes I can detach and laugh at it, and other times I feel sorry for her and want her to get a win. But I definitely find it easier to detach these days, at least for comedy.

As I said in my previous edit, in case you didn't see it, I apologize if you felt I was being antagonistic toward you. I only pointed out the "NB lesbian" issue because this is supposed to be a yuri site, and it is understandable that some people might not consider "NB" yuri.

As far as what I think about NB people, I admit I don't completely understand it. If you'd like to clear something up, rather than just calling it "complex gender dynamics", feel free. I imagine you'll balk at that, in which case I'll ask that you simply speak respectfully. I understand if you've had bad experiences online before and I'm honesly not trying to antagonize.

But when I tell you about what other people think, it's because it's the truth. I've engaged a lot of people on this issue, respectfully, and I expect the same in return. Like skelly85 did. That's how people expect to be talked to on this site, not to simply toss around flippant insults.

^^ Does futanari count? I mean, in general I have no problem with it (although when it gets ridiculously grotesque with the genitalia I find it distasteful) but I have seen some people here express rather negative sentiment toward it. I much prefer the "Omegaverse" type stuff.
