Disregarding the dramatic repercussions for a moment, those earrings were super tacky. Little guitars? Come on Honjou, you can do better than that.

She's got a horrible infections from her piercings, her lobes are all swollen and oozing, and she gets cranky whenever she thinks about it.

This chapter of Kase-san has been analyzed like the Zapruder film.

I was thinking more along the lines of Bergman's Persona.

damn idiot forgot to turn off the flash

I think the fake shutter noise is not optional for most phones in Japan, to reduce someone's ability to secretly photograph other people. Not 100% sure though.

Yup. That's definitely her arse she's staring at.

Agreed. It's very possible that Kase is being possessive, or honestly thinks the lipstick looks bad, but I think her immediate motive in telling Yamada to take the lipstick off is because she's horny and wants to make out.

Also, the translated version says basically the same thing as the original Japanese.

I agree, I don't think there's really any deeper meaning to Yamada's desire to use last names. She got to know Kase as Kase-san, that's familiar to her, so that's the name she wants to keep using. It fits with her character of having trouble adapting to new circumstances (like the way her being lost and confused after moving to Tokyo is played up). She even explicitly brings that up as a reason to stick with last names.

After looking at the lipstick scene again, I think a big part of it is that Kase just gets turned on watching Yamada put it on, and asks her to take it off because she wanted to make out with her right away, haha. If her reaction was purely from possessiveness, then she wouldn't encourage Yamada to put it on in the first place.

Curiously enough, I'm quite alright with the drama lurking in the horizon, mainly because their relationship has grown a lot every time they have faced the slight inconveniences that have crossed them. Kase-san getting possessive was quite blunt and it's probably the same thing as the whole "don't use that cute apron" back then

Apparently a lot of people find that whole "only wear cute clothes for me, I don't want anyone else to see it" thing endearing, but it always creeps me out. I'm not saying that it's always a sign of domestic violence to come, but....

Is it the moment where Yamada will say something about having someone and Hana will assume it's a boyfriend ?
Because I'm getting tired of that trope. But I love this story way too much to really complain...

Wait what, you're tired of the trope of most people assuming most other people they meet are heterosexual? Isn't that just reality?

You bring up (or allude to) some very obvious parallels to Botan's situation and decision which convince me even further that her choice to leave was understandable and justified. I won't say it was the right thing to do because it's something that comes down to weighing how much you value a relationship and what degree of personal violation you're willing to put up with for the sake of continuing the relationship. Different people would make different choices in her position. I'm almost certain I wouldn't cut off my family if something similar happened to me.

But she had no obligation to accept what they'd done. If she was a parent rather than a sister, things would be different, but as is she owed them nothing. She decided that the best way to take care of herself was to never speak to these people who had hurt her ever again, and I don't anyone could be blamed for doing that.

It doesn't matter whose fault it was. And this is beyond "getting angry". What happened to her was clearly so painful that she never wanted to see them again.

And look how that turned out for her. She tried to hide something from her family who obviously cares for her and because of that they got the wrong idea. So yea, it's completely her fault even if her siblings didn't make the best decisions themselves.

If someone with the very best of intentions, who cares about you very much, acts in what they believe to be your best interest and ruins your life, what do you do? Her leaving was a justifiable response.

Not speaking to any of them about it was an incredibly poor decision, and guilt-tripping them afterwards was uncalled for. Her sisters may have made bad choices in the heat of the moment and regretted them later, but if Botan thinks she played her cards exactly right she is sorely mistaken.

The way they confronted her was guaranteed to cause massive problems for her. That was the betrayal. They could have dealt with it some other way, but instead they went with the most awful and invasive way to address it. She clearly made mistakes, but what they did to her caused irrevocable damage. She decided that she didn't want people who would do that to her in her life any longer, and so she left. I think that is an understandable decision.

I think you're misreading Botan. What they did to her was a betrayal on a very deep level. Her decision to leave was completely justified. Relationships need boundaries. If someone violates your trust that completely and destroys something you care about, it's perfectly reasonable to leave and never speak to them again.

Reaching this page I already started crying, if they get bombed then, I won't have enough tears...

Yeah, that page did me in. In my opinion, this chapter is the best one since they left the high school.

Can I help with translating this somehow?
I tried to contact by mail and PM, but it seems those aren't checked very often.

We have translated scripts going up to chapter 34 (the one released a week ago). So an additional translator is unnecessary.

The translator posted this back in December, so presumably the same group is still working on it.

These girls are so pure-hearted (or just dense) that they'll be fucking each other before they even realize they're lovers.

It could be even less by 2026, due to inflation...

26-07-05 is July 5, 2014 (about when this volume of Yuri Hime Wildrose came out). The year is Heisei 26, which is 2014.

I just noticed something. If you compare chapter 18 to chapter 21, it appears that in chapter 18 Satou gave Mitsuboshi Shio's sock, but in chapter 21 Mitsuboshi gives Asahi Shio's necktie (the one she wears in flashback sequences before Satou got her, and on the poster).

Previously I had assumed they were the same item. No idea if this has any significance. Except that I guess Mitsuboshi probably still has that sock.

I wouldn't mind seeing a continuation of them opening that store and living happily together.

Wouldn't be much of a store if their starting capital consists of $400.

I think they had Hana Kana voicing Satou in one of the advertisements for the manga. I wonder if they'll get her for the series as well.

Edit: Never mind, it's written on their website. No need to wonder.

I know, the author wrote the date walk out scene, to show Oshimi choosing Mutsuki over her boyfriend. but, honestly, how obsessed could Osimi be with Mutsuki, if she forgot about the track meet, in the first plase?

She doesn't say she forgot. She says she made plans without thinking about it—as in, she just said "yes" before realizing that day was the meet. Nor does it say she didn't remember until she was already there, simply that she didn't decide to go until it was already time. I could be wrong, but I think what going on is that she was conflicted about going, but at the last minute decided she had to go.

It is a bit odd that "And yet, why is it I'm so obsessed with Mutsuki, more than anyone else?" is immediately followed by "Without thinking about it, I made plans for today, but...", but I think her behavior here is consistent with her emotions depicted throughout the story, particularly with her ambivalence about her own feelings towards Mutsuki.

I recognize these characters, can somebody point out the manga they're from?

I was wondering about that since most of Sayuri-hime works are very short sequels from previous YH stuff but going through all Kodama's translated and untranslated works I couldn't find those characters. Maybe it's the girls from Renai Manga, kinda looks like them here.

Also kinda sorta look/act like girls from Everyday Lingerie. But also this:

Pretty sure these are new characters, with familiar faces due to Kaodama's style.

Well, it doesn't help that there's an actual swapping couple in the series.

But even the sections about that couple consist entirely of jokes about swapping. Even if they were dating, the series wouldn't change.
