Another super-short story. Real sweet, but no real payoff. Is it me or there a massive influx of these as of late?

Probably because they're small twitter/pixiv shorts and easier to translate.

One the one hand it's really nice because 1) more yuri, and 2) they get to cover a lot of topics that publishers don't seem to want to touch.

However, they're usually too short to be satisfying, rarely have follow-up on the characters, and don't have time to get into any real depth. So good for little teases and jokes, but it's hard to make a meal of that.

Man, this is the first time I've ever said "that's it??" when I reached the last page. Normally, I'd be fine no matter how short a comic is. This is just too good, it leaves me wanting more. The art is beautifully drawn too.

You'll be saying that a lot more, I think. There seem to be a lot more four-page one-shots meant for Twitter or similar services getting translated lately. And that means a lot of bite-sized but not necessarily satisfying snippets with no follow through.

A lot of artists draw themselves as animals or other nonhuman creatures. Morinaga is a cat. Fujieda is a kind of blob-like thing. Kazama Kowo is a dinosaur, and so forth. I assume the trend in general in Japan is to portray the author as some sort of cartoony thing.
