And, yeah, I agree about this weighty themes of slavery and racism and so on and Malori just happily bouncing into them and (probably) solving everything being kinda annoying.

But I also wouldn't have enjoyed dragging out their relationship longer, I don't think so. At some point it just becomes tedious and you have to ask yourself what Malori sees in Vel, if she's always just cold.

I'm very surprised this is not the end. That's such a typical chapter to end something at .. maybe it'll just be a bit of an epilogue or something?

These days not even a het relationship works like this anyway. It's like some people have a need to basically overcompensate for their perceived "weirdness". "If I can't be into the 'normal' gender then at least I want an incredibly 'normal' relationship."

But I'd say much of this comes down to people trying to categorize things that don't really have categories. irl mostly people are just people. They don't get up in the morning and evaluate themselves on a butch-femme scale and then act accordingly ^^

My issue is essentially that I can't think of anyone that'd drive around in a limo like that and not at least have some sort of driver-bodyguard type (again, by manga standards). But we never see anyone ... I mean, clearly she has a driver. But they don't even open the door for her or anything.

It'd be true for a politician's daughter as it'd be for a rich heiress as it'd be for ...

So maybe her family knows she's as badass as she is and that's why she has no bodyguards? So totally Hell Princess. I'll just stick with that.

Or I'll have to go back the whole "this is Tadokoro's fantasy" spiel, and the lack of bodyguards is to hint at that it's just a fantasy and not real ...

A white limo speaks more to politics, industry, royalty* or something to me. If it were mafia/yakuza, she'd probably arrive in a black car with a bunch of bodyguards. If owning a dojo were their thing, they wouldn't be that rich, going by standard manga tropes.

Also the story wasn't supposed to be just 3 volumes, which is probably why it's paced as it is. But undoubtedly the pacing is what killed it (or at least I can't say what else it would have been).

Well, it's recently been revealed that a hero was summoned at some point and that we maybe should know who that is. But yeah, it's of course not the focus of the story.

Maybe confused it with "gamelit"/litRPG? Since it got some traditional RPG mechanics.

Anyway, yeah I read it, and it's decent lighthearted fun. It's also been mentioned in the webtoon thread on here so I'm sure other users read it as well.

It's a parody manga. That's pretty much the point. Each chapter has some sort of classic romantic trope that it deconstructs by increasing it to absolute absurdity. Whether it's suspension-bridge-romances or bad-boy-appeals or corny romantic lines ...

Grr. Why can't people just get over themselves?! It's fucking chapter 33, not chapter 3. Nobody needs to come back to complain again and again that some over-the-top comedy manga is not to their taste by being completely over-the-top.

I think the comedy saves this series, because it doesn't seem that a goal or a bigger purpose exists here.

It's actually what worries me. Because in the end Seifuku had a similar approach; some hints to some plots but mostly SoL with some comedy. And it didn't make it anywhere much.

I feel like I kind of get it ... but if I try too hard to pin everything down my understanding undergoes some sort of gestaltzerfall.
