Not filler but this whole "fake date" thing is a manga only creation, so it depends on how you view it since the mangaka in charge of the manga adaptation isn't the same as the original LN author.

Well it's pretty common for manga adoption to take some liberation and deviate a bit from the original creation.

True but people will judge things differently depending on whether the OG author is handling the adaptation or someone else. Since that person asked about filler, I wanted them to know the context. They might not have known that the author is different, and they might not have known that these events aren't in the OG novels.

The additions haven't really deviated at all, anyway. Just added a little context, and gave some characters a bit more screentime (Lilly and Thane, specifically) but everything else is mostly the same, which is good.

i don't really think the "author" is different at all anyhow? like sure, Inori isn't the one drawing the manga but they're still the one writing the story. So presumably Inori either tells Aono Shimo what to draw or they sign off on it at the very least. Either way, Inori not having any input on the adaptation seems highly unlikely to me

Based on how Inori talks about the manga, I do not believe she is involved with it. Aonashimo seems to handle the manga on her own and is definitely making the plot and writing choices.

In her weekly reports, Inori discusses new chapters and events with surprise and praise for Aonashimo's literary decisions. She talks about the manga as if it's all Aonoshimo's work. This new stuff with Lilly and Thane, for example, Inori discussed Shimo's skillful ability to set the stage with these new character explorations.

Inori has been working on her novels (one is releasing soon!) but that is the only thing she ever discusses when it comes to her current work and that stuff seems to take all her energy and focus. For the manga, she seems to just promote it a lot and praise Aonoshimo's writing. To clarify, I'll ask her and get back to you whenever I get a response.
