This got a lot better once it got past the premise

This is the perfect example of a series that didn’t need there to be an explicit confirmation of romantic feelings and still works perfectly. I think people have gotten used to modern yuri of the last 5-ish years that deal with actual romantic relationships, and I’m really glad we have more of that now, but for most of its history yuri hasn’t been a one-to-one equivalent with "lesbianism." I read yuri because I like seeing stories that explore intimacy between girls, a quality of which is oftentimes its ambiguity and uncertain nature.

This series accomplished exactly what it set out to do and it did so beautifully. I don’t feel any sense of disappointment. I don’t begrudge people for wanting something specific from the manga they read, but I feel like you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. I think a lot of readers would benefit from learning to appreciate different kinds of stories.

My guess:

Kiyoko was the one who convinced Mitsu to commit suicide with her. However, once they reached the mountain they realized they didn’t want to die. They made a pact to never forget each other and both cut off a portion of their pinky fingers so they would always remember each other.

Watched the movie with my gf, we both were kind of lukewarm on it. It felt very bittersweet and less tragic than the original story, and I didn't like the tone of the ending nearly as much. The complex emotions evoked by the manga were oversimplified and turned into a straightforward love story. Kiko Mizuhara wasn't that bad though.

I will also say that the Letterboxd reviews for the movie are all extremely biased because of the inclusion of the sex scene with Rei and the man at the train station, which just feels like an overreaction. All of the top reviews say stuff like "you can tell this is a movie about wlw directed by a man," but fail to mention the fact that the mangaka is a woman lol.

I think people are really misinterpreting the tone of this chapter. The feeling I get from the last panel isn’t her going yandere mode or something, and she’s not being a petulant brat either. She’s upset because she’s tried really hard to be kind and supportive to the person she cares about the most and has never had those feelings reciprocated. And now that person has finally been able to open up like Tsubaki always wanted her to, but only for someone else. So she’s gotten what she wanted—to help her sister be happy—but she wasn’t able to be the one Hiiragi connected with despite trying for years. It’s a bittersweet melancholic feeling, and she probably feels somewhat guilty as well for being selfish. It’s genuinely a really well-written scenario.

Yuri has always been about ambiguity and tenderness. I'm not disappointed at all whether or not they end up in a romantic relationship with each other. I too have shipping brain but more than that I want a story presented with artfulness and beauty, and that is exactly what this series is. Not every series has to have a romantic conclusion.

I love this manga even if it doesn’t turn out to be explicitly a yuri story. But I would be happy if it was...

Koyuki has become one of my all-time favorite characters at this point. She reminds me of the time in my life where I felt I had to be superior to other people to fight my own lack of self-worth. Being able to accept yourself is more important than being more talented or more attractive than other people. I think this manga depicts that beautifully.

Isn't omegaverse being mostly a Yaoi thing ?

Yes. It started as yaoi thing, but like with everything, people liked it and started to use it to het and yuri as well, as seen in this story. And when applied to yuri story, the omega tropes become really insulting since alpha has a dick.

Examining the power/consent dynamics in omegaverse stuff is not going to be super productive since dubcon is kinda baked in.

Yes, that's why I said ignoring that, though I'm definitely not happy with those stories continuing spreading those toxic power relationships and it's not rape if they enjoyed it message.

Yeah I think this is what bothers me, there's this constant narrative of "it's not rape if they enjoyed it". It's the fact that it's backed by this entire fandom, and produces so many stories with that narrative. I always say fiction is fiction, and people should write and read what they want...but it feels strange to me that there's an entire large and growing fandom with this mentality.

Yeah, that's seem to be going here with what the description of the sisters said, you can translate by "the little sister humily and rape her big sister but it's ok since they love each other and the big sister is in reality a M". It's like the author try to cover themselves.
Tbh, i would rather had the Mikanuji Omegaverse HinaSayo Futa doujin to begin this tag but i feel like it's rather an exception in the genre.

Which doujin is this... asking for a friend

I’m not necessarily against the abusive parent thing, it’s just cartoonish here. This feels really rushed and soap opera-esque. Plus it happened just in time to interrupt the big confession lmao. Just feels trashy
