The reactions are weird. One interprets it as straight up porn, the other one plain doesn't understand what it is. The listener in the hallway too thinks that people in the room are doing something sexy when eavesdropping. Either Hana doesn't understand how sex works and the PG12 rating is bullshit, or... this deep and spiritual movie is portraying something bizarre but with porno sounds.

i think its what ever the story needed it to be for this. I think there were times even in the U.S where the rating system didn't always line up. I remember some politician commenting that toys for kids would sometimes be made from R rated movies like Terminator and Aliens. Movies they shouldn't have even seen.

Fun chapter. It may never be yuri but we now have images of it would look like if it was thanks to the imaginative interloper.

I really liked last chapter too. It was nice to see where their relationship stands and the amount of changes it's undergone.

This took a while for me to get to reading but wow what a phone call. I really really hope Shima's "What a pain." statement means that she is now on her way to Adachi's house to comfort her and mend her broken heart.

I'm imagining it taking more of a reaffirming of some ground rules. Shima got to practice this in much less serious times when she told Addachi what she thought their freindship should be in the early chapters. (Can't remember which one) And Shima possibly advising against this note-book all about herself Addachi has, should that come up.

Course I could be dead wrong on this.

It's not pointless. It refered directly back to something that happened in this chapter. Shima's insistance that Addachi's mom interact with her more wasn't enough to change their relationship.

Im not sure what you mean by no emotion. There were developments. Sillyness with Shima unable to do a pushup and Addach's very telling reactions to their interactions. Plus look at that smug Shima face!

Shimamura seems like she gets on well enough with her dad, tbh - not super close but I don't think she's gonna go and blurt out MY DAD HATES ME like Adachi did with her mom.

"I can pass the physical at work." Shima's dad's explanation to why he doesn't work out as much as his wife. That cracked me up.

Oh. Wasn't thinking the dads were missing. Just regulated to the unimportant bin as much as moms and dads usually are. They often seem like after-thoughts.

I hesitate to call the phone call a break or psychosis or ascribe it to some sort of mental illness requiring a therapist. Adachi was not socially awkward, she was actively disinterested in social interaction. She had never been hurt that she would acknowledge before. She had no friends, her mom couldn't care less about her and she, also, simply didn't care. Then, all of a sudden she cared. Deeply, earnestly, awkwardly cared, only to have that thrown back in her face it would hurt. If you look back on the chapters Shimamura may have been thinking about Adachi often and enjoyed the thoughts but never let on she was. Adachi always had to make the first move. Always had to fight against her own nature to gain any closeness to Shimamura and thus, to see Shimamura seemingly put effort into getting closer to someone else would more than sting, it would be a punch to the gut. I'm not saying Shimamura's a bad person, but she is insensitive and clueless.I think, honestly, Adachi needed Shimamura to hang up on her. Adachi needs distance.

I don't think her mom doesn't care. I think she just doesn't know how to deal with Addachi.
Addachi has mentioned being taken to things like the park (and maybe the zoo?)as a child. So it seems she did try. Mom even made an effort to spend time with Addachi after Shima insisted she do so.

Wonder where the dads are. I'm so use to anime/manga giving parents non roles that this is all the more surprising it's suddenly part of the discussion.

For an anime adaptation of the scene most of the weight would go to her VA's performance, depending on how much and how fast she is able and willing to go about it they could kept the whole thing if they wanted, but more than likely better cut the repeating bits, I don't remember the names but some users have similar scenes in other animes in the novel's thread.

As for this chapter of the manga, I always thought this was one of the most interesting ones in the previous manga and the novel. Even more so after recent developments.

Thinking about it some more, and the fact that the story does in fact continue, (why was my other comment so fatalistic?) I guess shima may think this friendship is worth trying to salvage. Maybe she will pass Addachi's outburst as her just leaving addolecence behind and bring a teenager on general.

As for her mom, there could be more going on but it didn't seem like she hated her daughter. Shima even tried to get her to interact with Addaci more.

Ah, poor Adachi. I have no idea how you fix what's wrong with you but best of luck. Seems your closest human connection may not be equipped with what it would takes to help. Or just not the type to. but that's how it is sometimes. Or maybe Shima will surprise us. I honestly have idea where this is going but im intrigued.

Might be the end of my lovely-fluffy-introspevtive--friendship-y-that-might-be-more thing though. Will have to find another at some point.

Also wondering if the blue particles the alien kid emits like some kind of surpessant to make people "ask fewer questions" about them

Based on the number of comments and the quality of them, I believe we can all conclude that there is no real interest in yuri featuring adults. Let's all move on from this. Plenty of other problems in 2020 for us to solve.

Second volume starts with chapter 6, so we have at least 5 more chapters ahead of us. Beyond that, it probably depends on the sales of volume 1 - so everyone should consider supporting if it's within your means!

He saw her standing in the entranceway for a few minutes and probably all she said in his presence was “… Okay.” Unless he has a gaydar with the sensitivity set to 11 or his glasses are actually shipping goggles, he’s not gonna figure it out from just that. On the other hand, mom had a lot more info available and noticed all the hints. I’d like to see the parents show up again in a future chapter.

Will also echo what others have said about how nice it is that the story isn't full of people that are jerks just to be jerks. Yeah they happen in real life but it starts to feel real two-dimesional after a while. And it's just nice. They do mean well. They just need to realize "one size" doesn't "fit all."
