Whoa didn't expect this to be from the same artist as Johari Garden. The style is really different.

Loved both though.

Reading this reminds me of waiting for final semester grades to be posted and just expecting a train wreck. I'm scared but I keep coming back to check because I'm now too invested and hope against odds that it will turn out ok

Whatever your opinion may be, the director and writer got into a pretty big fight over exactly that issue.

I'd like a source on that. I get that Shinbo suggested Urobuchi change the ending, but I don't recall Urobuchi being against the idea.

Same. I had the impression Urobuchi went along with the suggestion without much trouble.

The ending made sense and was forshadowed through the entire game. The developers were adamant about keeping the main characters female and queer, and for that alone I support them. Also, the studio is French so like...you know it's going to be dark and heavy and death everywhere.

I have to disagree with your assessment craptree. I personally don't think Tan Jiu writes a great slice of life story. My reasoning is because the characters don't have depth and are not memorable. In order for those characters to have depth they need at least a few chapters and not just 4 pages devoted to them; then, switching to another character which makes the audience have less connection with the characters. Slice of life generally doesn’t need a heavy plot but what make slice of life manga/anime good is the depth and how memorable the characters are.

I can't even remember glasses guy's name or the big heavy guy's name.(I have seen other people refer to glasses guy as glasses guy) They are not memorable characters unlike the characters from Nana such as Ren, Yasu, Nobu, Shin and Takumu. I remember these characters because they had a back story and the author devoted time to make the audience have a connection with these guys. I know Nana and Their story are slightly different genera’s with Nana being abit more serious tone and Their story a comedy but I don't know anything about these side characters. The only person who looks like getting a bit more time put into the story is Qui Fang. This is a good thing if the author could now devote time and focus on Qui Fang, instead of jumping to different characters all the time it won't be as off putting for me. Plus, narrative wise it would be stronger and the audience can actually form a bond.

I know that Their story has more chapters to go and hopefully it can devote time and effort to these characters and flesh them out. Plus, not switch characters after 4 pages all the time. Of course, the author should expand on the universe and not just focus on yuri. However, the author should stop switching between the characters all the time. It’s like a baby that has short attention span that plays with one toy and immediately switches to another because it’s bored. It’s frustrating as an audience keeping up.

You're comparing a josei released chapter per chapter with complex plot and characterization to a manhua closer to a 4koma style released stirp per strip... Of course you would be disappointed.

Apples to oranges comparison indeed. Their Story doesn't have dramatic story arcs. It doesn't introduce drama for the sake of drama and then spend an entire volume trying to resolve said drama. Tanjiu chose instead to introduce small details of side characters one strip at a time. Brief glimpses into their daily lives interspersed into the interactions of the two main girls. I would call that SLICE of LIFE more so than Nana.

I also think it's refreshing that not every interaction between the two main girls is for the sake of introducing tension in order to force their relationship forward. That's not how real life works. Sometimes you get on a bus with your crush and some random boy interrupts your trip. What appears to be a mundane distraction is still an interesting way to frame how the characters respond to day to day events, not to mention ample opportunity for comedy.

I saw this project last week and I have to say...the creep level in the video is a little too much for me. I'd like to be proven wrong but it just gave me a feeling the visuals aim more at straight men. And that was before I even read it has a het route.

Thanks.
I'm glad my Chinese is proficient enough to read it.

Does that imply you are proficient enough to read Japanese? How does do sarcasm?

You can crawl through http://safe.yuriproject.net/ if you really want the Japanese raws. But actually just googling "raw sentimental dust ch03 mediafire" gave me the results anyway so here ya go =P

Does someone have the raws of this title?

The Chinese scanlation is complete if you care to google for it. Bakaupdates has the title in Chinese that you can copy-paste.

I've also heard that the game isn't "fully" voiced. Can anyone confirm? Is it like some background characters (teachers/faceless students/etc) have no voice (which is fairly typical) or is it that some normally voiced characters have lines that aren't actually voiced? Because that would be a bit of a shame. :(

From a reviewer on Steam:

The game has partial Voice-Acting
How partial? Well... about a fifth. From my estimation (not looking at raw files, but simply from my experience playing the game...) it seems to be somewhere around five to six hours of voice acting. That's more than any single season of anime will have, anyway. All of the funniest, most exciting, or most painful moments are acted--it is a slight disappointment that it all isn't, but, they made sure they got the most out of the performances, and they are well-done.

Penis ≠ Male
Lack of penis ≠ Female

There is more to this world than black and white, male and female, etc.

Although given that it says in the story that the penis just suddenly appeared, you can't honestly count this sort of thing as representative of real-life women with penises (men without penises, even less so).

This is true. Although I find futa penises to be so bizarre, both in circumstance and anatomy, that they may as well be toys with extra function. In which case there really is little impact on the gender of the character they're attached to.

It was also not a really nice move in general. I mean, I overall liked the confession, it was direct, it was bold, it was emotionally charged, but, that one sentence, "I'm not here to be friends with you", was really not a nice move. Because she was saying that only after they became friends, at least from Qui Tong's perspective, which is something Sun Jing should have considered.

Yeah I agree, I guess she's taking her bro's words to heart, the friendzone thing, how it isn't clear the Sunjing wants to be more than friends
Whatever Qiutong feels, it's obvious she never considered the option that they could be more than friends, she simply just didnt think of it, and being suddenly confronted by such a bold confession really put her in a scary and awkward position. I feel bad for her.

I would like to say that you're reading too much into the words, but I double checked the Chinese and it's a pretty literal translation. I think the phrasing of "I'm not here to be friends with you" may sound slightly graver in English though.

It's scary and awkward in both positions really. The world sees two women as simply gal pals, and one has to take a leap out of it somehow.

Also, what is with that logic "annoying = our feelings complement"?

The Chinese literally means "fill in for each other" although it translates to complementary. While Qiu Tong finds Sun Jing annoying, Sun Jing likes Qiu Tong, so their feelings make up for each other's. Qiu Tong actually responds with "how's that great?" as opposed to "how does that complement?" but the sentiment is basically the same.

I don't like impulsively making accounts on websites, but I'm curious about this script. I assume (please forgive me if I'm wrong) you are not officially among the the ranks of Dynasty Reader staff so this isn't something to be integrated with the backend of the site itself. I wonder if there's enough interest in upgrading the functionality of the site natively, and if the staff would trust random strangers on the net to help (I bet no). I'm a young and inexperienced software engineer with major interest in web development so a part of me entertains this idea.

Well at this point I'm mostly musing to myself. Even though I'm not installing your script, I imagine it's a chunk of work, so [throws unwarranted appreciation your way]

Alice Cheshire

Norainhere

Yes, more Puella stuff! I know people here were pretty skeptical about this in the last thread, but I'm honestly really excited for this.

I'm not expecting anything resembling a happy ending but I'm actually really interested in how they're going to continue it/wrap things up.

I really hope they continue from where they left exactly, I don't want something from a parallel timeline or some pre rebellion stuff... or even worse a 3.33 where they deny what happened before

The trailer doesn't seem to deny what happened in Rebellion at least, what with Homura referring to herself as lizard-girl and Madoka referencing being split in two. Personally I don't really care what the movie does as long as I get another fix of sweet suffering :)

I'm on page 5 and I just wanted to say... Shouldn't it be "Shouko-chan"???????????

Although I can't find exact details, I think this is another system of Japanese romanization. It reminds me of the system in my old Japanese textbook that I stopped paying attention to because I learned romanization a different way.
