The stranger part is that the author has written the whole "Nanoha and Chidori are dating, but it's a secret from everyone" differently almost every time. The sentence order or grammatical structure changes from chapter to chapter, often in minor or subtle ways. I'm not sure if it's deliberate or has any significance, except that when it's "Nanoha and I" or "Chidori and I" it indicates that we're getting a chapter more from one character's POV.

Personally I got the impression that Marie's special someone was Mel, but I don't really know why. Maybe there's just these hints of sadness about her? Or maybe her relationship with Stella just didn't seem the same as Mel's with Master? I'm not super committed to that theory, just something I thought.

Also, Master's lack of a name is getting more and more awkward. At this point I wonder if Itou Hachi lost a bet with her editor or something and is being forced to write this whole series without ever giving the main character a name.

Other sites have this marked as 'Romance', though WHO'S romance it refers to we will have to wait and see.

Obviously between Shirokuma and Nanako's husband. It'll turn out he's a big fan of her work, and then they'll bond over their mutual admiration of Nanako. How could it turn out any other way?

How it works (as far as I can tell) is that someone uploads a group's releases somewhere—maybe here, maybe to their own manga reader, maybe to something like Mangadex—and then at some point other sites will use bots to rip the images. These other sites don't give a shit about permission (they're stealing from thieves after all, it's not like scanlation groups are going to sue—if they're worried about legal repercussions at all it's from the copyright holder, not the people who illegally translated it) and they download using fully-automated processes. For more trafficked manga readers, I think they will automatically download any newly uploaded comic within minutes. If your reader is hard to find, eventually one clever site will find it and download the comics, or some readers will upload the comic on a new site, and then the other sites will just take it from them.

These sites seem to frequently merge or change names, and new ones are constantly popping up while old ones get shut down. They're profiting from illegal translations after all, so it's an inherently unstable business. It's probably impossible to tell how many sites a given comic will appear on. I just googled "read Innocent Devil manga free" and on just the first page, over half the manga reader sites are ones I've never heard of before. The attitude among groups (just from groups that I've been a part of) towards these rip sites varies. Some think this is a good thing since it means more people will read their work. Others don't really care one way or the other. Others resent them for profiting from someone else's labor.

It honestly don't even deserve amnesia tag.

The amnesia portrayed in this story is millions of times more common than the type usually portrayed in fiction where a character permanently or semi-permanently loses all memories of anything that occurred before an incident, with no other major side effects. The cases where someone experiences very long term retrograde amnesia without also experiencing other kinds of permanent brain damage are not many.

Though I agree that it was pretty much irrelevant to the story here.

I'm also not of the opinion that a story needs to end when the main couple gets together. The most interesting part of a relationship happens after the confession. Canno is clearly not a stranger to that concept, so it would be easy to continue with Shiramine and Yurine as a couple.

While I agree with you in principle, I find that in practice, the characters in a romance either get together at the beginning and then the story is about how their relationship develops, or the characters don't get together until the end and the story is about how they get together. They don't have to be that way, but they usually are.

In this case, Canno just hasn't really left many threads untied for the main couple. Maybe there are some things I'm forgetting, but Ayaka dealt with her issues with her mom, and Yurine got over being sad about being a big selfish jerk. Canno would have to pull some drama out of her ass to keep their relationship interesting at this point.

I forgot about that ending with the guys thinking about them. A nice bit of parallelism.

For the first time since I started reading this, I wouldn't be surprised if the next chapter was the last one.

At the same time, perhaps the author can come up with a reason to keep things going. I personally don't see how the same story could continue for more than a few chapters and still be interesting, except if the main couple just disappears completely and we only look at side couples now. But coming up with interesting things to write is the author's job, and she's obviously better at it than I am.

Nobody's getting paid for this (or at least I'm not, and I think most groups lose money scanlating) so I'd say that groups should just work on whatever projects they want. You don't owe anyone anything, and you're not hurting another group by picking up the same series. It's not like they have to stop working on it just because you start.

Personally, I'd prefer that someone point out any errors I make rather than start doing the same series. However, I don't think I've ever made mistakes that change the meaning of a series, and I try to make corrections whenever errors are pointed out to me. Also, if there are enough problems, you'd have to go over and check every line against the original, and at that point you might as well just be translating it yourself. I'm not saying that it's at that point here, just that there are some practical limitations to the advice "just help the other group get better".

I can kind of understand the argument, "There are so many untranslated works that you could do instead," but at the same time I can understand the argument, "Fuck that, I translate what I want to translate. This isn't a goddamn charity, it's a hobby."

Anyways, there might be some reasons not to pick up something another group is working on, but if you want to do it, do it.

I liked that the amnesia was such a minor detail. It's far more realistic to lose a few hours after an injury that gradually come back than the typical fictional amnesia.

Her name is Teraji Miko, and sometimes people are given nicknames that combine parts of their names. In this case that'd be taking the final syllable from her first name (-ji) and slapping it onto the start of her last name (Miko). Or at least that's my guess. As of yet no character has referred to her as "Jimiko", and it doesn't really mean anything, so I have no idea why it's in the title.

I don't think you understand the function of the glasses. They aren't they so the character can see better, they're there to satisfy the reader's (presumed) glasses fetish. That means that during sex and in the bath are the times when she needs glasses most.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen the acronym CBD used outside of urban planning discussions.

Maybe kissing picnics with senpais constitute a sort of first-year merit-badge ceremony. . .

The other instructor did chew out Kagami for the temerity of allowing a first year to ask her on a date. But maybe that's because the first year didn't follow the proper dating-a-superior officer procedure, and it's fine for Indou to do it because Kagami asked her first.

This really didn't work for me. Here's what makes sempai fall in love with kouhai:
1 kouhai looks colorful in these glasses
2 kouhai acts brusk and dismissive (apparently her typical behavior)
3 kouhai lies and acts irrationally possessive
4 kouhai says some corny line out of nowhere

If it were me, I'd just throw the fucking glasses away at this point rather than be with this asshole.

Maybe that's your "thing" (every couple has at least one). But if not, you might want to look into sleeping by yourself. Sometimes it's lonely, but you never have to deal with being called ugly by someone you like.

Yeah.... With a setup like this, I constantly wonder why they don't just meet up during the weekends or spend time together after school. Would Chidori or Nanoha's families be really upset if they had a friend over? I simply don't understand why they have so much difficulty getting time to themselves.

The only real answer I can think of is that they're still very shy around each other. And I guess that makes sense. They started dating in April, and it's still late May, or the first week of June at the latest. So it's only been a couple months, and they're clearly still awkward around eachother. So perhaps it makes sense that they just each have trouble asking the other to spend time together outside of school.

I remember being super awkward for at least a month during my first relationship when I was their age.
