Damn. Comic Cune is brutal. Are they just purging the yuri to reorient the magazine? With Ayakashiko gone, that leaves boob manga and Bright and Cheery Amnesia. And that latter has totally dropped any pretense of a plot.

I feel like I'm out of the loop I take it a bunch of series got cancelled?

Also I mean while B&C Amnesia doesn't have a "plot" direction exactly, I at least enjoy it because it's super fluffy. So I hope it doesn't get cancelled.

Ayakashiko more or less wrapped up naturally, only one character didn't get their growth moments. B&C doesn't have a hook to keep average readers on board anymore now that the drama resolved. It doesn't mean for sure the series is ending, but it isn't a good sign that a new arc hasn't started.

I could also be wrong. Ayakashiko ran for a long time, and this series didn't feel like much of a sales driver. And Shimeji Simulation is still going. It's a weird magazine.

kinda show that you better stay away from the allure of being published

Well, you either make money for your work and try to make a living, you give it away for free, or you sell a few to sustain your hobby. The allure of being published is that of having a meaningful job. Rather worth the gambit

That suggests that there is an older character who has a fetish for young girls

It does not though. It's a genre tag and that's the genre

I think they had this beautiful mental image of a slow burn arc where Uta goes to college and has somebody crush on her while Kaoru sorts her life out

How much do you wanna bet that the someone with a crush was pitched as a guy and the editor was like, "Well, I tried. Axe the series."

Fellas how long until next chapter?

At least two months from now. I'm assuming this chapter is the end of Volume 3, so there's gonna be a break next month.

Unless someone rips the bonus chapter.

I see Volume 3 is set for 12/18, right around the next real chapter, so not really.

That gives us two months to share meaningful stories about puking all over the place and strengthening bonds of friendship. College is a magical place

I have no problems with open endings, but do it in a way you can actually connect the dots in the end? This story has ended, however, the big mystery are not the unsolved conflicts nor the plot holes, but the status of Uta-Trashoru's relationship, some have interpreted they are together, I personally don't think they are, but give us a hint? Like Uta wearing a ring or a ring holder necklace, or at their doorstep, like a newly-wed thing of sorts, I dunno, any hint even if it is to confirm otherwise, but to end it like this you disrespect every reader who stayed for the ride these past 4 years

She is wearing a necklace in the last scene. It looks a bit like it could be the one Kaoru gave her:
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/my_unrequited_love_ch01#21
if so I guess it would be a bit significant, but we don't get a close enough look to be sure (its shape is not much more than round blob with cutout).

We totally do on that second to last page, and it just raises more questions. Both appear to be crescent moons with an orb in the middle, but the chain is fastened to the ornament differently on both. Is this the same necklace? Was it unintentional? Is it just sloppy? Was Citrus' ending really all that bad?

I gotta know, do people actually get sick from going outside in the rain or cold? Is this how disease works?

And is it finally yuri time? Have we made it?

It feels like when the author was told to axe it, they just condensed 2 or 3 arcs into one chapter rather than attempt to craft a satisfying ending out of what space they had left. Like this was just an outline built to get as many of those ideas on paper as possible without considering the resolution

I'm sure Rodd gives the best high fives. After all, they say that when you lose one sense, your body compensates by heightening your others.

This is avant-garde fanservice.

It really is, it's experimental use of point of view and a deconstruction of underwear shots. Are we getting artistically flexed on here?

Writing fake news is a very respectable career nowadays, though technically Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia was canceled in canon

Why the time skip? Because people can't stand all these yuri endings where they're together in high school and you have no idea if they stay together. We've come a long way, fam

I assumed assisted suicide because of how dramatic everything is and how poor their family was. Kaoru could not afford a drawn out medical stay and I could see her mother not wanting to put that burden on her. And while i was being a bit hyperbolic, let's look at the quality of the drama.

We have yuri pining and two yuri side stories versus het relationship issues and anxiety about the instability of the main het relationship from as early as the end of volume one (Risako rolls in in what, chapter 4 with the foreshadowing and is like Wouldn't it be funny if I was sleeping with one of your husbands?) with the follow up broken ankle incident hanging over the entire series.

To me, full blown relationship issues are more of the dream of what we could be getting in yuri rather than pre-relationship scraps

I finally read this series, and it sounds like this has already come up, but isn't it weird that a het drama, verging on het soap opera, runs in Yuri Hime? And, like, Uta's mom euthanized Kaoru's mom and that still hasn't come back up?

why does all the marketing from the publisher focus on the story as if it were primarily the story of Uta’s (apparently) doomed love for Kaoru?

It'd be quite the day in hell when Yuri Hime markets the het drama angle. The YH marketing will always be yuri regardless, I don't think it will help us understand the author's reasoning other than to say it's even more likely that YH would ignore a change in protagonists. Basically, I agree that this feels very meandering and I think the story doesn't feel very yuri-driven (considering of course the trinity of story types: character-driven, plot-driven, and yuri-driven.)

I’d point to the mean Mom as one of those—swoops in, delivers a bunch of exposition, and supplies Uta with a place to go when she leaves

Maybe the mom is actually going to release some tidbit of information about what she did to Kaoru that caused her to lose her practioner's license that will free up Reichi's guilt? The plot has shifted in the chapters since Uta moves to make a yuri ending plausible.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to be putting this, but apparently, the author Inori is struggling financially, had a broken down water heater, or something that costs nearly 340,000 yen to fix, so she had made a Ko-fi account and accepting donations. Here's the link.

https://ko-fi.com/inori

Thanks! Looks like you can get the 18+ chapters and other extras here too.

Just had a horrible thought: if Mahoro dies, wouldn't Emi be unable to see her and the others anymore?

That's exactly right. Though Emi can still see shapes of spirits

Sent to hospital because of a 38 degree fever? Eh, I guess everyone is different but that does not sound that bad generally speaking.

Also Mahoro just phase shifted what

From what I understand, hospitals do a lot of routine care in Japan. Can't confirm for real though. On the other hand, around these parts if you're upper middle class and above (family income over 200 or 250k), you probably have taken your kids to the hospital for fevers. I swear, all my coworkers go to the doctor for everything!

Don't worry, Hijiki doesn't know how to count. There's more than that left. Still, I thought 65 came out a few days ago? I could be wrong, though 64 came out a month ago

EDIT: Without giving away the secret numbering scheme, we have 5 releases left!
