I suspect this entire issue is a bit pointless, since I'm pretty sure the main reason for the lack of material on Kaoru's orientation (especially in the last chapter) is that the author was avoiding committing to a romantic outcome vs sororal.

The last chapter makes it very clear that Kaoru cherishes Uta's love for her, she even blushes when she talks about it. Her friends would presume she is talking about a hypothetical prince charming, but we know she is talking about Uta. That is about as far as it can go without committing to a romantic outcome.

I'm sorry, but then what's the point of entire manga? If you begin story with character being in love with someone they can't be with and tries to overcome it, the only satisfactory resolutions are that she accepts it and moves on, doesn't move on, but accepts it'll be forever unrequited (what first half of last chapter seemed to go with and honestly should have stuck with) or actually managed to make unrequited love requited (happy ending majority of readers here were hoping for). Ending entire thing without any kind of confirmation is literally leaving the story unresolved and robbing readers of any possible emotional climax to the story. And just to make it clear, I read this story for Uta's angst and fully expected for love staying unrequited. I was expecting the worst possible outcome and I still feel cheated by this lack of resolution and impact. Instead of people talking about how satisfying or not the emotional journey was, people instead are left questioning what this ending was even supposed to meant. You can't simply not give any reward to your readers after basic your entire story on emotional struggles of its main characters. Manga literally ended with the status quo it started with. Uta and Kaoru still live together, Uta still loves Kaoru and we still don't know whatever Kaoru will ever reciprocated Uta's feelings or not. That's definition of bad writing.

When you're on manga's main page or chapter you need to click on icon next to login button, that now is your username and you can select to read, read, favorites and subscribed from it. Favoriting main page favorites entire series, favoriting chapter only favorites that particular chapter. One-shots works like chapters. You can mange those in Lists.

to be honest, and I might be the only one here, but instead moving to live with Trashoru again (like no growth whatsoever, right?!), I wanted Uta to moved on completely

I’ve got to agree, and I believe several people here made that argument, especially as the chapters wound down to the end and Kaoru still showed not the slightest evidence of being sexually attracted to women generally nor to Uta in particular.

I was saying that's what series should have been from the start.

I sure hope it was axed and not ended by author, because it'd mean they are terrible at writing stories if they think story should end at the half way point, especially after finally getting to the interesting part. Not only it skips entire second half of the story, we didn't even see emotional climax of the entire plot or resolution to it. Not to mention all the plot threads that were never addressed/resolved. The fact author had to make not one, but two time-skips to somehow end this mess says a lot. Considering that beginning actually was good, I can't help but wonder if author was forced to stretch it to fit into serialized form, but it affected the quality of the story and once the popularity dropped (assuming it did) it was axed and they couldn't salvage it at this point. Or they simply are bad at storytelling and couldn't handle continuing the narrative over longer period.

mangaka was going around in circles with the story since many chapters ago.so why is everyone surprised the end somehow sucked?

There were many people arguing the story is actually very good and really well written, so.

Also episode 3 of Yashahime was a bit slow, but so far it's pretty nice.

So thanks Rye for recommendation (wherever I read it and if it was even you stares) to watch Harley Quinn animated TV show. It was great and Yuri romance was surprisingly very well done.

Just watched Omoide no Marnie, and wow, it's been a shit-ton of time since I was ever so disappointed by a film. When I first heard about it, I was wondering why it didn't get any buzz, because for all intents and purposes, it looked like Studio Goddamn Ghibli had made a yuri film, which should've put it at the top of every recommendation list. After that terrible ending, though... yeah. I need to, like, gargle my soul or something.

Yea. I got Yuri vibes from it so I decided to watch it. It wasn't bad and had some nice moments, but that twist felt a bit far-fetched and I did feel betrayed about lack of yuri.

I posted in anime thread but here:

So I watched first episode of Hanyou no Yashahime, the Inuyasha spin-off. It started off interesting by introducing 1 from 3 girls from new main cast, but then spend almost entire episode on the original main cast fighting some generic demon. It was really boring and felt pointless, but I guess the point was to reintroduce/remind them to new/old viewers. Also I'm not sure if I missed it or it'll be relevant later, but I feel like demon itself was entirely irrelevant to the story. Also we're 1 episode in and show already gave me some hardcore Naraku PTSD flashbacks. Some ancient demon that Kikyou sealed just before she sealed Inuyasha was released, they find it and kill it immediately, but turns out fragment of it survived and regained strength somewhere else. So they later found it again and killed it again, only to it escape again. Later suddenly there's many of those demons spawning all over the place and they keep killing them and only then it's explained they're just parts of it and the main body is hidden somewhere. So they force demon to reveal its true form and then they kill it and even purify the land around it. You'd think now it's dead for sure? Nope. Small fragment survived and went to some tree (that I didn't quite understand how important is and I don't remember if it's some reference to original series) and hid there? I'm not sure. So yea, they definitely know what they're doing, since they manage to brought back the worst parts of Inuyasha. Oh and episode ends with other 2 girls from new main cast showing up I guess. I do like Inuyasha's and Kagome's daughter and can't wait when episode will actually focus on them.

Episode 2 was good. They really should have just started anime there.

Honestly I didn't see the connection between Bleach and Burn the Witch, beside the mention of soul society and I feel like the soul society in BTW doesn't have the same concept than the soul society in Bleach.

I suppose Front London and Reverse London is quite different than original Soul Society, but I was thinking mostly of magic that's clearly based on Kidou with saying the general name (idk if there's offensive and defensive separation like with Kidou) and then spell's number. Also higher ups being different powerful characters that clearly each one represents some kind of different faction was very reminiscence of divisions captains. I mean, IMO tying it to Bleach is more disadvantage than advantage and worked more as a funny gag in one-shot rather than something you want to include into your new series, if you want to go crazy and not care about canon and continuity (which to be fair, seems like Kubo never really care that much about anyway, be it Bleach itself or how Western Branch existence makes sense in Bleach universe as a whole). So while you can see some clear influences and concepts borrowed from Bleach, I agree it still has many new ideas.

So I watched first episode of Adachi and Shimamura and I'm liking it so far. Question to people reading mango/light novel. How much first episode covered? Are we going to barely go anywhere in first season? Also wtf is up with astronaut loli?

Also I watched anime adaptation of first arc of Burn The Witch. New manga from author of Bleach. I was surprised that it actually has lesbian character in main cast and it seems like the 2 OTP parings are het and yuri. Kubo did include yuri in Bleach, but it boiled either to comic relief (Chizuru) or was completely unresolved (Sui Feng), so the fact this time it seems to be taken more seriously was really nice. Character introduction was poking fun at her for being a bit yandere-ish, but it never stretched out to her being in love with another girl and in fact the MC she is in love with never rejected her or said she's not into girls and in fact it's clear she cares about her as a friend, so there's clear potential for her to eventually warm up to her. Also for people who did read/watch Bleach, while there's a lot of new concepts, there's also a lot of stuff that's clearly taken from Bleach, which isn't surprising as Kubo did tied it to Bleach making it a spin off, rather than completely new series (how much it makes sense in-universe is another matter).
