Is it really eloping if you ask her father permission?
I don't get why people think that this is "fast paced". If it's the fact that they kissed after they became officially a couple, that really doesn't make sense... I mean... did you people never DATE? I realize that the majority of manga story lines use the "both people are so shy and reserved that they can barely even think of holding hands until they've been in a committed relationship for months" formula, but the majority of relationships that I've been in started either with asking her out on a date or meeting at a party, but either way, before we were "officially a couple" there was usually at least one make-out session, followed by the awkward, "Yeah... so... I guess we're together now, eh?" discussion. (Only one time with the... "ummm... I need to make a phone call before that can be official... / OOOPS I totally screwed up" caveat. - yeah, I was that jerk once in my life... it happens. Happened to me as well.)
Maybe kids today ARE that different?
I really hope we get more details on Chidori's past crush. We know that she felt she should never fall in love again and cut her hair in September, but by the time February rolled around she had started falling for Nanoha, but was not admitting it to herself, or at least was fighting it. But then she got Valentine's chocolates that were "not just as a friend" from Igarashi-sempai, who she proceeded to reject. So I'm kind of wondering why the relationship with Igarashi caused so much pain if the girl had feelings for her as well? Or was it that she turned her down and then changed her mind after Chidori had moved on? Or was there some kind of triangle going on with her and two sempais and Chidori really liked a different one, who didn't return her feelings, but Igarashi liked her?
It would be nice to get the full story and not just bits and pieces...
Flashback arc! We finally get to see the aggressive Arisa!
Weirdly I was on the same page as kasumi, I had also assumed they did not have a father.
I have a vague memory of her father being mentioned earlier... but I also recall it being clear that Sakurako had been in a caretaker role at home because she was the oldest and her mom worked...
These two chapters were quite good. For a second I wondered if we were going to see a Kase-san like mixer scene with Sakurako going ballistic and keeping the boys away from her woman, but Kasumi has more sense than certain other main characters in other series... or just realized that it would be a massive hassle and not worth it, even for food.
That was oddly wonderful...
Hmmmm... Her girlfriend looks a lot like her sister...
So... any clue who the character at the end is or who she's referring to?
Rewatching the anime, I realised both 4s and Seven Seas mistranslated a line Yuu said in chapter 10 when Touko was leaving Yuu behind, Yuu thought that Touko wouldn't leave her. Basically both translations put it like "if i cant be with her i dont want anyone to love me" (or i dont want to fall in love with anyone). While Asenshi and Hidive got it right: some flavor added, but it was actually "if i cant be with senpai, who can teach me what is love?" Basically "if not her, who else do I have to love?" Asked someone who knows japanese and she said asenshi's was right.
No, they didn't. The sentence both in anime and manga is: "先輩と一緒にいられないなら わたしに誰か好きになれるのいやだ” Which directly translates to "If Senapi and me can't be together, then I don't want someone falling in love with me."
If anything anime mistranslated it, because it assume "iyada" part is separate line, when reading manga you can clearly see, Yuu simply paused before definitely saying someone else falling for her is something she doesn't like.
Yuu simply loves Touko, or is attached to her, at this point so much, she can't even imagine being with anyone else.
Anime often changes or omits lines or even given them to different characters, but they didn't do this in this case.
My friend explained the "iyada" was necessarily a different sentence and not part of the rest, because if not, the sentence made no sense at all. I believe her because she is a native speaker of Japanese. You dont have to believe me or believe her , though. The pause before the iyada in the anime was done right, director knew what he was doing. Even in the manga, the iyada is in another panel , not in the same panel with the other sentences. It is literally "if i cant be with senpai, who can i fall in love with? I dont like this/this cant be". And i believe Yuu wasnt in love with Touko in chapter 10 yet.
While I agree with much of your points, I disagree on one thing: your last sentence. If you said that Yuu didn't realize that she was in love with Touko in chapter 10, then yes. But I am in the camp that believes that she has been falling for her for far longer than she understands because of her shoujo-manga-warped impression of what love is supposed to be like.
As early as their second kiss, Yuu was showing signs of being attracted to Touko sexually. Her thoughts would drift to Touko's physical beauty frequently and she admitted to Touko that she didn't really have a problem kissing her and, indeed, was curious about it. Then when they kissed, her body language wasn't that of someone indifferent to what was happening.

If you look at that image, Yuu has grasped the sleeve of Touko's uniform and knees are pressed toward each other with her feet pushing up onto her toes. It looks like a very visceral reaction. Nakatani-sensei is too good of an artist for this type of body language to be accidental.
In addition, Yuu's behavior leading up to and during the campaign speech was indicative of her developing feelings for Touko. She consistently denied that she was, including to Maki when he confronted her after seeing them kiss, but that was because she didn't get the "fireworks/butterflies in the stomach/love at first sight" feeling that Touko had. She had a more realistic "getting to know the person and growing to love them" experience, but didn't realize that love can happen that way as well.
She eventually DOES get to the point where the fireworks and butterflies come, probably due to the more intense make-out session and her physical reaction to that, but also due to her realizing that her desire to make Touko stop hating herself was driven by love.
At least that's my take on it.
As for this chapter... it was fantastic! I like the implication that Akari and Doujima are potentially getting together. It was very clear that Doujima was infatuated with her by the end of the sports day arc. It's also fun to see Yuu the softball player for a change. She has good form. Maki calling her out on her BS attempt to say she's over Touko was excellent. Her reaction to Touko's text is all the evidence needed.
Two months will be a very long wait...
Looks like the Winter Fairy's attempt to mess with things backfired into solving the problem that had an obvious solution all along...
Yeah.... this isn't unrequited anymore....
What? You think Yamada had the slightest clue about what that place and the people in it would be like? She wanted to do something with Hana, her new (but unknown to Yamada) equally clueless friend.
She may not have known what kind of party it was, but she knew that Kase didn’t approve. When Kase says “I don’t want you to go” and Yamada says “too bad I’m going” and hangs up on her, I get the feeling that it isn’t about Hana anymore. Wether the party was dangerous or not, all Yamada knew was that Kase didn’t approve, and wanted to prove her wrong.
Again, forgetting that she is awful in social situations.
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/yamada_to_kase_san_ch04#27
THIS ^ gives us all the information we need to know that Yamada knew EXACTLY what she was going to: A MIXER! She read the ad for it where it said it was: "A party for those looking for love" and looked dispirited and thought "A mixer,,,?"
So, yeah... Yamada knew she was going to an event for singles to hook up with other singles. So I really don't understand everyone who is saying that Yamada didn't do anything wrong. To top it off, when Kase said she didn't want her to go, Yamada heard her roommate in the background complaining about Kase wearing her clothes and she got jealous of her and ended up hanging up on her girlfriend. That was the last communication they had before the event.
So, given that she hung up on her girlfriend and then went to a singles event, why WOULDN'T Kase be insecure? It doesn't MATTER how long they've been dating. Kase thought she'd been dumped. She says so right in the manga. She went there to win her back.
They both made mistakes. Kase shouldn't have demanded that Yamada not go, but she should have told her that it was an event for singles and, "Hey, Yui... you know that's a thing for single people and you're not single, right? We're dating... so you're not available to date other people... or... am I wrong?"
Kase also hasn't been communicating well, but it's pretty clear that she's barely functioning at college as well. She's doing fine on the track, but she's not organized and her roommate is getting fed up with her and who knows how her classes are going!
As for Kase's performance AT the club, I have no complaints. At that point, her girlfriend was attending a singles event and guys were obviously hitting on her and asking her for her contact info and they were also going to be drinking alcohol despite being underage and, as she said, she's been to places like that with her club before and she's seen how people act when they're drunk. She knows she can handle herself, but it doesn't even take being Yamada's girlfriend to be worried for her in that situation. If Mikawacchi was there she would have been just as concerned and, in the end, Hana wasn't happy about it either, though just on general principles and not because she was concerned about Yamada. Yamada has always been portrayed as someone who has SEVERE social anxiety issues and can't really speak up for herself. When Kase entered at the end of the last chapter, Yamada was at a loss, having been separated from Hana because of the "friends can't sit next to each other (unless they're guys who are regulars)" rule, [which makes the event look pretty predatory in a major way because they intentionally separate the girls from anyone they might have come with to watch their back to make sure nobody tries to slip something into their drink, etc... while allowing the guys who know each other to group together, which would allow them to distract the girl while they do it.] The only person she seems to be able to speak her mind to is Kase, but even then she has trouble or she wouldn't have had the misunderstanding about the roommate.
I'm not a huge fan of the wording of some of the conversations with the "even though you're mine" and "do you really want friends that badly" things, but I get where Kase is coming from. Would it change it that much if she said "Even though you're my girlfriend, I'm afraid you might drift away from me. You're like a butterfly." or "I know you want to make friends, but do you really have to force yourself to come to places like this? I've known you for a long time now and I know this type of situation makes you uncomfortable." It might have been better worded, but it really wouldn't be "Kase" because she doesn't word things well, except for occasionally, when she is smooth enough to melt Yamada into a pool of jelly. (Which she can really just do by saying "Yui, I love you!" and Yamada can do just by saying "Tomoka-chan")
All in all, it was a good arc, because they learned a lot about communication. Hopefully they'll both get better. (I do wonder if Yamada will tell Hana about her relationship for real now or not... and I'm a little bit surprised that Kase hasn't totally flipped about the fact that Hana-chan and Yui-chan use those names with each other, since she only calls her Yui in intimate moments and Yamada still has trouble calling her by her Tomoka at all.)
This is just its own brand of awesome!
Well, in chapter 6, Anzu shows her true colors AND proves that she doesn't understand Akira at ALL, since she asked her to be her "BOYFRIEND" and not her "GIRLFRIEND". Hopefully Akira will NOT accept her offer and will figure out the real reason Hime has been freaking out and help her get over her "but we're both girls" issues.
The only REALLY funny part was that the friend she called to get the report from when she couldn't get it from her roommate appeared to be on a date with another girl, thus disproving her theory even further...
Why does the art look so familiar to me.
Not gonna lie, we need more of this stuff. I like it.
Click on the author's name and see what other series is listed. That should explain it...
^ The past tense is because the grandma isn't alone anymore thanks to her moving there. The question is about why she moved to there when the rest of her family didn't.
That's an easy question to answer: stability. She said that her family had to move around a lot for work, which would mean that she's probably had to switch schools repeatedly. Her parents probably recognized that with the more challenging coursework from middle-school on, it wouldn't be good to be switching schools often, especially if their jobs make them move more than once per school year. Switching schools mid semester can be really tough if the school you move to teaches topics at a different pace than the one you left, leaving potential gaps in your education. It's kind of annoying getting to higher level math and having everyone else know what the teacher is talking about when it's something you've never been taught... (This happened to my daughter because she tested into a class by pure mathematical intuition that was post Algebra II at the advanced math and science high school she went to when she hadn't taken it yet. Yeah... she was that good at math that she could figure out the answers on a multiple choice test for topics that she'd never been taught... but that didn't mean she could actually show the work when she was required to do so later on! We ended up having her tutored in Algebra II over the summer by her old math teacher. It helped a lot. But I digress...)
Meanwhile, her best friend, who she's obviously in love with, lives close to Grandma... so she had an obvious personal reason to want to move in with Grandma... I'm guessing that her family spent a lot of holidays at her grandma's house or lived in the town at some point when she was younger and the two girls have obviously been friends for a long time. It is clear that she's not telling her crush the real reason she wanted to move in with Grandma is her!
They're lucky they both picked the same day to stand under the tree. It'd be heartbreak of its own league if they missed each other.
Well... they said "Three years from today" so... that makes it a very specific day... not some random one in about three years...
In the very last page she said she’d “wait for her in hell” and since her life was extended does that man in the future she does something that places her in hell rather then heaven?
In many cultures there is only one land of the dead, and by using the term "hell" the author was able to then make the joke with it of "My own personal hell".
I'd say the new pair, Moka and Koruri, are obviously opposite versions of Sakurako and Kasumi. Koruri looks like Sakurako and seems to have a personality more similar to her in many ways, but she's not organized and is in Kasumi's major. Meanwhile Moka has a lot of Kasumi's traits, like wanting to sleep a lot and ovoid the heat, but she's in Sakurako's major and seems to be the "gayer" of the two, though Koruri certainly seems to have eyes for Kasumi... but, then again, who hasn't in the story?
"I'm sorry I'm such a perv!"
Not that I have a problem with how things are right now, but WHEN ARE THEY GONNA KISS
I think they kiss before...I don't remember
Nope. No kissing yet. They'll get there when they get there... maybe at the four-part sleepover at the end of this volume? Or maybe in the next chapter that's titled: "Give Me a Reward"? Who knows?
This was a FANTASTIC CHAPTER! Chidori going into the day of her birthday already a little bit disappointed because she didn't get a midnight text from her girlfriend wishing her a happy birthday, then being surprised at the classroom door by her friends was great, but I totally got that she was still slightly upset that there was nothing from Nanoha alone. Then it seemed to be getting worse as she found out that the group present and surprise idea were driven by others in the friend group and NOT by Nanoha... But then the actual present reveal solved all of her internal conflict and made her fall in love just a little bit more! So flippin' sweet!
"Cats don't hit me" There is something wrong here. Cats hit everyone and everything.
Not if they aren't yours and you are just taking pictures of them from a distance...
This was really, really good!
What the hell is this? A perfect storm... of boobs...
