Thank you for the suggestion! Part of the motivation for the database changes and some possible future changes are based around the use of more aggressive caching. Reducing the load of single requests, and reducing their burden after first access (with more caching) are, I imagine, the easiest ways of alleviating some of our fringe performance issues. I'm not the one to know all the details front-to-back, but I think we're on the same track here!

Hmm I do think there's some space for a wider usage of the Hardcore tag and perhaps an accompaniment, but I'm not too sure about the Hentai distinction. To the best of our abilities, we do try to stay away from value judgements where possible. This probably warrants some more discussion, though.

There seems to be an issue with the directory where the first item(s) of a section is/are also the last item(s) of the section before it. For example, author a+1 is listed twice, once under # and once under A. This can also be seen with Anthologies, Doujins, Series, Scanlators, and Tags.

Edit: This happens on Safari on iOS 15.2, but doesn't happen on Firefox (96.0, desktop). May investigate further.

I was unable to replicate this at all over the course of a few days. If you find anything else, please let me know.

Honestly, yeah. Was on Discord for like 4 years and only started popping in more when it really looked to be necessary. I think the faster bite-sized communication, and general chaos, are things you can get used to with some practice now. Nowadays I watch the 2-3 channels I'm in regularly and ignore the rest! Forum is still a much comfier place tho.

Works Removed is for artists who have had some of their works removed. This can be everything from DMCA to "pissed off translators" to artist requests. We are unable to remove oneshots from the site without physically removing the pages associated with them, leading to awkward gaps where content used to be. Ideally this tag is meant to highlight those gaps in the database, and should have some explanation for its use on the appropriate artist page.

There is another newer tag, Status: Removed, meant for series' and anthologies. This one is meant to more consistently express some of the ideas above, though I imagine it will mostly be used in conjunction with the Licensed tag.

Neither of these tags is seeing much use yet, but when time and more comprehensive site updates allow, I expect they'll be quite useful for completionists like me.

As for finding removed content, I must stress one point. Not all content removed from the reader will ever be available anywhere else. If it was never re-hosted anywhere else (uncommon, but not impossible), it may simply be gone forever. Otherwise just use search engines or other online readers, you'll probably find whatever you're looking for.

Unfortunately every element on the front page has a significant negative impact on performance given that it fields such a high volume of requests. I'm hopeful we can bring back the random chapter section in another form in the near future.

Site Update

You may have noticed a wide variety of changes to the site's layout, including but not limited to: the removal of the random chapter section on the front page, the addition of a Pairings tab to doujinshi pages, a complete reformatting of directory pages at large, and probably a lot more.

While I understand that not all changes are positive for browsing, these are a cumulative beginning effort to improve site performance. Any and all feedback on the changes is welcome! Thanks.

The tag suggestions feature has had a slight adjustment. Users may now insert notesregarding their suggestion for us to see. Any possibly helpful notes are welcome. The rarely used Series Description and Author Description tabs have been deprecated in favour of this - you may still use this section for any pertinent series or author notes! We'll implement and/or respond to them just the same as always.

I'm cool with limiting views to 2 letters per page so as not to load everything at once. But it'd be nice if the covers view mode worked with it. ;)

This has been fixed (somewhat). The cover view button will stick across all pages now. However, clicking it past page 1 will return the user to page 1. I believe in the very near future this behaviour will be corrected to allow users to toggle freely without changing their current page. Thanks for the report!

I think what we need is some way of masculine looking characters being identified regardless of age or behavior. I guess it could be, if they don't have the behavior to fit into Tomboy, they go into this tag instead. Of course, I'm speaking from what I want...The question is whether just short hair is enough and where you draw that line. I don't know that "I know it when I see it" is adequate.

First off, I'm fully against "know it when I see it" tags, and one of the more active site projects at the moment is to fill in the gaps of tag descriptions here. Secondly, I'm completely open to any suggestions, so speaking directly about your own desires is most helpful to me. Lastly, Short hair as a tag is too vague and applies to so much of the site that it is probably not a very useful tag in the most broad sense. I think we would most likely seek to limit it to hair length above the cheek; or try to pair it with some other characteristics to make it viable enough for use.

I am feeling sad that there's potentially a lot of manga about masculine looking women floating around that I'm not seeing.

I get that. Anything released post-2016 probably has the type of tagging you want, and I don't believe many truly masculine-looking characters would go without the tag entirely.
