^I've read two interpretations of that, one of which is that they are fake ears for whatever reason. Usually it's for comedic purposes like here, though I saw a particularly dark take on that where Reisen was tortured in a war while she was still on the moon and had her original ears ripped out.

A more likely explanation is that they are just badges or earrings for moon rabbits.
