For those who haven't seen it yet, this is that anime you get each season that nobody watches because it's on a weird streaming platform but is actually pretty awesome.

Lately, there are so many 4-koma series about pathologically shy schoolgirls who get nervous talking to people and can't even mutter a "hello" when they meet a stranger... I guess it's a new moe fetish?

I'm not sure it's a fetish so much as it is wish fulfillment. Although this is a big over generalization a lot of the people who read manga are socially withdrawn, lonely and shy so a story where some really interesting fun person comes up to the shy, lonely MC and wants to be their special friend is really appealing to them.

This is even more true in those sorts of stories where you see the shy MC learn to come out of thier shell and basically become the center of a harem of friends.

From what I can tell Hime is just uncomfortable being hit on by guys and upsetting Akira which apparently happens less when she dresses like a guy. I'm not sure it's really a healthy way to deal the anxiety caused by the opposite sex flirting with you and your friend being uncool about it, but to each their own.

Hime seems to be way too hung up about how others perceive her. Actually so does Akira for that matter.

Stupid dyslexia I read that as "yuri fighting game" rather than "fighting game yuri." Skullgirls never had anything beyond a bit of subtext, but for something like a fight game that's basically unheard of.

But our protagonist is too detached and indifferent to care long enough, maybe she can't wake up.

Her's is a dream from which one cannot wake.

Neat story but I think it needed more visual distinctiveness between the characters in the story and the characters in reality.

This is one of the best first kiss scenes I've seen in quite some time.

I've actually had the opposite experience? Machikado Mazoku, Granbelm, and Symphogear have all been much lighter on the yuri elements than I'd expected. I mean, they're good, and there's some yuri there, just... not what I'd been anticipating

That's the one good thing about being a pessimist. You are either right or pleasantly surprised. Since I expected absolutely nothing this season what little yuri we got was a fun bonus for me.

I didn't think there would be any yuri this season. but I am happy to see I was wrong. Wasteful Days of High School Girls appears to have multiple LGBT characters and in this last episode, a narrowly avoided kiss between Lily and the school's tomboy "prince."

Although it's a bit early to know for sure, O Maidens of the Savage season has a character showing the early signs of being into girls rather than boys and it is an excellent coming of age series regardless of if it ever goes the yuri route.

Machikado Mazoku also toys a bit with some minor subtext between Momo and the MC. Momo seems to be very weirdly and cutely fixated on the spacey fledgling demon girl.

More along the lines of tall, strong, misunderstood monster girl x kind understanding normal girl. Most of her stories I've read have both girls as adults except for the one with the Demon King on vacation.

So why do people think Maekawa is in the closet? She has made it quite clear she isn't. Her hang ups have nothing to do with whether she is gay or not. That's Shimizu's issue not Maekawa's or rather it was her issue until she recently sorted out her feelings and came out to Maekawa after which Maekawa promptly offered to let Shimuzu get as physical as she likes with her.

If you are yourself in the closet and doubt if you are gay/bi then offering to be your gay friends first sexual experience after she comes out to you is simply not the sort of thing you would do.

Maekawa's hang ups are a result of deep emotional and mental issues. She is struggling not because she isn't sure if she is attracted to women or not but rather because she realizes how much Shimizu has come to mean to her and she is terrified of the destructive repercussions of falling in love with her.

Well I was not taunting. I'm genuinly disappointed that Nevri who usually makes very sound arguments would use that kind of non-sequitur. I quite literally expected a more reasonable reply.
I suppose it could be interpreted as a taunt saying that Nevri should be a bigger challenge.. or something? Sorry I can barely even see it as that. Text often does not convey intent.

EDIT: Also I was called "out of touch" with absolutely no back up for the claim... does that not count as taunting too then?

Also their argument was far from a non-sequitur. Their point is when it comes to cartoon fetishes where there is obviously nobody being harmed by the creation of the fetish content there is no difference between banning something like yuri and banning something like necrophilia, bestiality, incest, pedophilia etc. in that the banning has no moral grounds and is instead based upon one's own personal sense of disgust which has no place in policy making.

Just because the majority of people find something revolting doesn't mean they get to thought police those that do not. That in itself is immoral.
