What's a Yuri manga that made you really pause and think? One of those stories that stick with you after you finish reading, because of how they have you rethink the world/life/humanity etc.

For me, one such story was The Qualia of Purple (or "Qualia the Purple"), which introduces real quantum mechanics concepts (in a fantasy extrapolation, but still). Another was the webcomic Always Human, which offers an interesting view of disability. There was also this one book where the protagonist has epilepsy, but I forget what it's called.

I'd really like to find more stories like those. Got any suggestions?

I would suggest downloading while you still can. While most of this stuff can be found elsewhere on the internet, some things are solely on Dynasty (like Akaga Short Comic).

Not sure how the rules apply here (or the law, for that matter).

How the law applies to a manga pirate site?? As for the rules, as BlueDsc said, Dynasty honours takedown requests without much issue.

A lot of websites like these rely on legal loopholes or specific interpretations of local law in order to be left alone by governments. Kind of like AO3 and the whole concept of "transformative works". Since Dynasty has a general rule of taking down works licensed for English language release, I wondered whether this might be the case here.

Not a lawyer, though, so I can't really tell the difference between websites that are barely legal and the ones that host outright illegal content.

Why everyone so serious in the comment section? This ain't a serious manga. Just light hearted and wholesome. Yall expecting some deep and emotionally moving philosophical life changing story or something???

They don't give the tumor's full specs in the story, but GI carcinoma is always bad. As in, there's generally mild cancer (basal cell, most thyroid types, GIST), there's the concerning types (most breast types, Hodgkin lymphoma), and then there's the real motherf***ers (lung, stomach adeno, most sarcomas).

Bowel carcinoma sits somewhere between concerning and really bad. But it won't necessarily kill her in six months.

So... are we just going to ignore that nekomura asked Dynasty to take down their work? Not sure how the rules apply here (or the law, for that matter).

It still bothers me immensely that nobody thought to rename this in English as "The Qualia of Purple", which is both in line with the story and the most accurate translation of 紫色のクオリア.

I don't care if it's printed on the original cover, "Qualia the Purple" makes no sense.

Since we are at questions, I also have a question. Is the cover page really supposed to look like that? It seems to have 400% more gamma than necessary. I tried a gamma correction (to make it lower) and this is what I got:

I don't think this was answered yet, so the answer is yes, it's supposed to look like that (the original).

This author has several covers like that. It's s o f t aesthetics.

Girl Friends by Morinaga Milk immediately comes to mind. You'll have to read it outside Dynasty, though.

Also pretty much everything else by that author is also in that vibe (except her older, weird smut stuff)

Panic attacks don't care whether you're reading a real story or a fictional one.

And besides, people are allowed to simply not enjoy certain types of story, right? For example, I dislike time-traveling sci-fi, it has nothing to do with "real life logic", I just don't like it.

Regarding consent, it gets a lot worse before it gets better. What had been depicted so far in the manga actually hadn't bothered me, but what comes later this volume is pretty egregious, and I think it's unfair to tell people to stick with it because it gets better without warning about this.

There's a scene where she very explicitly refuses Aya. Not the usual ambiguous culture, "dame means yes", but straight up: "今日はえっちしないから" ("I don't want to have sex today"), followed by Aya forcing herself on her despite repeated denials.

Also, this became massively problematic in an entirely other way, so... might as well warn about that too.

Aya's boss, the owner of the lesbian bar, is a predator who has sex with both Aya and a middle schooler. This is portrayed completely uncritically. The actual sex isn't depicted, mind you, but even though I have a pretty high tolerance for lolicon in yuri romance this made me really squeamish. I think because there's no romance, just casual sex with minors, and also perhaps because the setting of a lesbian bar is more grounded in reality than most lolicon yuri and that makes it all the more believable and therefore yucky.

I thank you very much for the warnings and am absolutely going to forget about this series.

This series is a "girl gets a lot of skinship and occasionally sex while at the same time getting to know her partner and beginning to appreciate her and see her in a different light, THEN love". It's not a "I'm having my first time with a stranger omg I love them".

Not that I'm judging. People are free to fall in love with whoever they will.
