I don't think Sakurako's comment about them "not dating" is a statement that they are not at all sexual but if it is, that's fine too. They could be in a queerplatonic relationship and that would be just fine. They do occasionally kiss and Sakurako occasionally obviously is attracted to Kasumi, but it's possible that Kasumi is ace, and Sakurako has figured this out and respects her boundaries.
We did get "partner who's something like my girlfriend, my pet cat..." https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/a_room_for_two_ch53#5 Followed by grumpiness about labels.
That's also the chapter that had Kasumi spontaneously kissing Sakurako on the lips when she got home.
As someone else already pointed out, it was probably a cheek kiss, but it might have been a poorly drawn kiss on the lips as well. We can dream. That chapter ALSO has Sakurako taking Kasumi a drink at work at the photography studio and seeing the picture that her boss took of her in a wedding dress hanging on the wall and gushes over it, saying, "I'd love for us to wear matching wedding dresses!" Kasumi asks, "For what?" and Sakurako says, "A wedding ceremony!" Then, in chapter 59, there is this little exchange:
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/a_room_for_two_ch59#9
Sakurako wanted to get thumb rings. After they buy them, Kasumi thinks to herself, "But anyway, I thought she was gonna say that she wanted rings for our ring fingers. That's surprising..." And Sakurako thinks to herself, "Even if three months pay is expensive, I guess I'll do that after I start working full time." Then Sakurako SAYS: "I'd love to go back there for some thinner rings!" and Kasumi responds, "Yeah, one day."
So it's clear that Kasumi totally expects that they will have a commitment/wedding ceremony of some sort at some point and wear rings on their ring fingers. SHE is not going to initiate the process, but she will be happy to wear the ring when Sakurako decides it's time. Regardless of anything else, they are life partners.
I think they spelled have sex wrong. I don't usually spell it F L I R T.

Yeah... she's freaking out, not because she had sex with her friend, but because her friend told her that she always loved her and she feels like she wasn't the friend she thought she was. To a certain extent, given how freaking drunk she obviously was, that's a legit issue here. It has a bit of a creepy vibe to it, especially if the friend wasn't as drunk as her.
I expect that she'll realize she feels the same in the long run, but drama is incoming.

Where exactly is Koyuki going to college again? I mean... if she's going to Tokyo it might not be so bad if Konatsu and her dad moved back there... But then again, she's only got one year left of high school and she's got the Aquarium club to run and Kaede to keep from causing too much trouble and she'll still see her girlfriend when she comes home for breaks... Getting into a college close to the one that Koyuki is going to is probably more important than what happens next year.
I'm guessing that Nozomi really wishes that the ring was from Shino instead of a leftover gift from her late husband. It was very clear by the way she was treating it at the end of the chapter that she wasn't really wanting any part of it. I don't know if it's because she doesn't want to wear a constant reminder of the pain or if she thinks that Shino is getting together with her coworker and considers the ring symbolic of their getting closer since the guy gave it to her and didn't bring it directly to Nozomi. The text at the beginning of Chapter 75 kind of makes it clear that the story, from Shino's perspective in the future, is heading for something not so good with Nozomi. What I can't tell is if the "Signs" she's talking about are signs of depression and mental instability, so possibly issues with her being a suicide risk, or if they are the signs that most of us are seeing of Nozomi wanting a closer, less sisterly relationship with Shino.

These credit pages are gonna kill me! BRAVO! BRAAAAVO!
If you consider that every time a Kaiju is killed between the walls the paired partner on the Bastioner's side of the worldline split also dies, it would make sense to say that the same is true of Bastioner's killed between the walls. So that would suggest that, in the battle where Yuuko's sister died, with the ending of: "All targets eliminated at 7:42 PM. Two survivors confirmed out of 16 deployed." There were 14 people in the other worldline who spontaneously died during that battle and ONE who died who was not an active participant in combat. So, presuming that the other side has figured out what is going on between the walls, you would think they wouldn't keep killing themselves...
Has there been any statement about what the cost of the second wall being breached is?
Mangakas have no idea how weight works + insane asian standards of what normal, thin and chubby/fat looks like.
I see nothing wrong with the way this story was done in terms of the behavior of the two women. I have known MANY perfectly healthy-looking women (and some men as well) who have insisted that they need to diet because they were getting "fat" over the years who behaved precisely the way Akari does: ordering smaller portions while looking longingly at the food the really WISH they had ordered. It doesn't mean they ARE overweight. It has to do with body image and how their clothes fit. If you add in eating disorder issues (and there are several people on both sides of our family with those, unfortunately) these behaviors amplify and also become warning signs of something potentially dangerous.
I'm curious as to why Akari first assumed cheating of all things (Maybe a translation deal?) because Shiho doesn't seem like the type to do that nor does Akari seem the type to assume that.
To be fair, this is likely the first time Akari's even seen Shiho interact with another person without being present. Just goes to show how much they're together.
^^ I suspect this could be part of it. When Akari is approaching the two of them they are standing VERY close together. Far closer than Shiho is likely to allow someone who she is not very close to into her personal space. In addition, Shiho's sister is very obviously enjoying the conversation, considering how broad her smile is. Shiho is also MEETING HER EYES, which I'm guessing is not something she tends to do with others. So it's not surprising that she felt jealous and put on a little dominance display.
I want to like this but I can’t get past the breast size exaggeration lol
It's where all that excess Aegis energy is stored in these superpowered women. You should see the size of the men's ...

Notice in the last panel when they are drinking lattes their knees are leaned toward each other touching. Just one those subtle signs of affection with the person you care about. Having physical contact with them even in a casual small way.
And it MIGHT just be the angle, but Kasumi is angled more toward Sakurako and appears to be the one seeking contact more... this is, in my opinion, something that is a subtle symbol of their relationship. Sakurako is very vocal about her love for Kasumi, but Kasumi is just as dedicated to Sakurako in her own more quiet way.
That credits page is pure gold!
This is definitely something we should take VERY seriously.
I have to say that this comment along with your avatar make for a fantastic combination!
With all this argument about "Age-gap" vs. "Lolicon" vs. "Both", has anyone considered that the lazy Iseki girl might be between the ages of 15 and 18 and that it is NONE OF THE ABOVE. The ONLY place in the one-shot where it mentions anything about the girl's age is here:
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/a_goddess_blessing_and_a_convenient_life_in_another_world#5
Where it says:
"One day my short life of nothing but work finally ended."
That says nothing about what her actual age was other than that her life was short. When I think of a short life in terms of Iseki stories, I think of teenagers dying and getting a chance at another life, not adults. (Slime being one of the major exceptions.) So until I read the comment section I figured she was probably 17, maybe 18, but lived a really hard life before being reborn.
The other thing that probably makes people think she's older is the fact that she's much taller than Archie, but... she's also a lot taller than the maids. Are the maids little girls too, or is it because they are ELVES and this world's elves are small elves and not the kind in Lord of the Rings? That might explain why she is taller than them. Most 14-year-old girls are pretty close to their full growth, height-wise, actually, so Archie is probably not going to grow more than a few more centimeters unless elves mature more slowly.
(I'd take down the "Age-Gap" if it were me since we have no proof of age except for one of the characters.)
All in all I thought it was a pretty funny take on the genre.
Happiest chapter of the entire manga so far!
If Volume 2 had extras, where if any are Volume 1 extras?
Also if the extra chapter was a one shot, no one would ever believe that the previous chapters would ever be appropriate for this one shot. They're translated and should get typeset at some point (along with the vol2 afterword). It just made sense to get these particular extras released as soon as possible, for obvious reasons.
Thanks for getting the V2 extras out quickly!
Well that extra pretty much sorted all the theories about who's with who.
Yes, they did. And confirmed my interpretation of the ending quite well: Rin and A-Chan are together and raising the three girls. Yukina had a crush on her coworker but they never dated and is sad to find out that Rin has a girlfriend. If she HAD approached her, Rin would have told her that she was in love with someone else but she wants to remain friends. The added incest and age-gap wrongness just add to the overall wrongness of the entire thing. I'm guessing the author thought, "Well... what haven't I done?" (Though the part with the 14-yo Rin in the 29-yo Rin's body and the teenaged daughters being in love with her was already there for the age gap, even though the mental age was similar. Koharu was actually the older one, mental age-wise.)
Moral of the story:
Let the balloon go off to Baloonia instead of being a fucking dumbass and subjecting your crush to and endless cycle of watching yo dumbass die 27 times and having some rando jokers kids
You win the internet!
As for the ending, I think it Is supposed to suggest that Rin and A-Chan are going to raise the girls together. I don't see any indication that Rin is actually DATING Yukari in the final chapter. She's getting together for lunch with her on the weekend. That is certainly NOT "Date night" type of behavior. That is "friends getting together for lunch" behavior. Sure, Yukina signed off with a heart, but a lot of people do that (and she might have feelings). As for Yukina "getting a raw deal"... there was only one timeline where Rin got together with Yukina and that resulted in Rin committing suicide. The other timelines Rin was just her coworker.
You have to admit the ending is still very stupid. Like why does she still know Yukina? She didn't seem too happy with her job yet she willingly went back just to meet her and become friends? That makes no sense. Also if the husband dies in an accident why isn't anyone trying to prevent that? The comment of him getting the short end of the stick is based on his death just being written off while Rin's death leads to multiple restarts. Imagine having a wife that can undo your death but decides not to to be with her former love.
We only see Rin in her job in the universe where she time-leaped into her 29-yo body with her 14-yo mind. (The biggest problem with the manga, in my opinion, Is the fact that the there is NO explanation for THAT weirdness. The re-starts are explained quite well, but not the time leaps without knowledge of the past.) We don't have any information about how she felt about her job when she got there the normal way, by growing up, going to university, and applying for the job. (Frankly, the last time through it would be a HUGE load off as a graduating senior in university to know which company you should be submitting your application to without worrying about rejection. Her college friends would probably look at her like she was crazy when she told them she was just applying to one company.)
As for the husband dying... that happens in ALL universes, at the same age, regardless of whether A-Chan marries him or not. I presume it happens the same way. It Is not something A-Chan has the ability to change. Rin dies in a multitude of ways at a variety of dates and times, in all universes where A-Chan and Rin are dating they are young. The only universes where Rin reaches adulthood are the universes where A-Chan marries Koharu's dad and the where she cheats on her when she's in college and Rin ends up with Yukina. In both of those universes, Koharu's dad dies the same way. There's no indication that being with A-Chan changed anything about his death, unlike Rin. Therefore there is no reason to think that A-Chan could use her restart powers to save him. Also, everyone is so adamant that it was so horrible for Rin to force A-Chan to do something that she did voluntarily the first time through in order to give birth to two adorable children who were obviously well-loved and very kind. In chapter 9 A-Chan states that she believed Koharu's father had taken on Rin's "debt" when he died and that was why she contacted Rin to take care of the kids. She was obviously depressed at that point. UP to that point, before his death, she was taking care of her children. Most likely there was a period of time between the funeral and when she contacted Rin when she was in a downward spiral that soured her relationship with Koharu.
But the key to her restart power was her love for Rin. So, if she could use her restart power to save Koharu's dad, that would have to mean she loved him too. Then it wouldn't be a problem for her to marry him, right? But she can't use her restart power on him, because she married him in order to save the girl she loved in the first place AND because he was kind and helped heal her heart that was broken by the 27 consecutive deaths of Rin.
I posit that this timeline is the ONLY timeline that Rin and A-Chan can end up happy together in the end and Rin had figured that out, in addition to not wanting to erase A-Chan's daughters from existence. The other important factor is Koharu. Without A-Chan marrying her father, she ends up an orphan and is going to be moving far away to live with a relative she doesn't know. In order to make Koharu's life better, the best option is the world where A-Chan marries her father. In order to preserve Rin's feelings for A-Chan without her feeling betrayed, it's best if they don't date and have Rin cheat on her like in the only other timeline. And, since they are both on board with the plan, they know that they are playing a waiting game. In essence, A-Chan is agreeing to an arranged marriage with Koharu's father for the sake of Koharu and their unborn children, at the request of her future lover. Remember, this is a culture where arranged marriages are still a thing, they are just usually arranged by the parents, not your childhood friend whom you are going to move in with once your husband dies in an accident.
In any other timeline where Rin lives to adulthood, she would have harbored resentment toward A-Chan over her cheating on her when they were younger. "Turning her down and cutting ties" until after her husband's death, with them both knowing the course of events, is the key to Rin not dying young. (Why she doesn't die after they get together as adults is another question altogether.)
All in all, there is plenty that is just plain wrong with the story, but it's still pretty good IMO.

Well, this one was a heap of burning dirty diapers.
"Marry the guy so I can fuck your kids."
I hope this got a poor reception in Japan.
She totally was NOT interested in getting together with her daughters! She was interested in RAISING her daughters! When she was a 14 year old in an adult's body she might have been confused, she wanted to survive to be able to be a family with A-Chan and her children.
So did she have kids or not.
Did you read the chapter or not?
The biggest looser is the guy. Cheated 27 times in a row. Used only for breeding.
How was he cheated? The 27 times in a row were the times that Rin died when A-Chan DATED HER. She survived to adulthood when she got together with the Koharu's dad and married him. A-Chan never cheated on him. He died in an accident. And in the timeline when A-Chan DIDN'T marry him and she cheated on Rin with other people at college to avoid her dying when she was still in high school, he STILL died of an accident, so it was just when he was supposed to die!
So when Rin started going on about those kids, I was seriously expecting A-chan to respond in the same way.
I am legit shook that she actually went along with marrying that dude and having those kids lolShe did it for Rin. Rin basically took advantage of A-chan's love. She should have marry the dude herself if she wanted kids.
and
Well, Rin did become these kids guardians, so it's not really like she shouldn't have a say in this.
Then she should marry the dude herself and have kids of her own.
Why is Rin's concern for these kids seen as selfish by you?
Because it's not her choice. She's not the one fucking a dude she doesn't love. Again, if she cares so much she should marry him herself.
They're living beings
No, they're just a possibility. They wouldn't exist if A-chan wasn't forced into this mess (Koharu aside).
Let's see here... how many problems are there with this... First, the kids wouldn't be the same kids if Rin married the guy instead of A-Chan! They would be genetically RIN'S children and not A-CHAN'S children, so they would be DIFFERENT children... you all understand that concept, right? They have an established sequence of events where A-Chan marries the guy and has two daughters with him. There is not guarantee that Rin would have the same results. PLUS:
RIN WAS STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL! (Haruhi was 14 when Rin was 29, so that means she was born when A-Chan was 18 and Rin was 15.)
So you want the guy to have sex with an underage girl as well? WTF?
Also, despite what A-Chan is saying at the point where she is stressed beyond belief, she DID love her children. The reason she dumped them on Rin in the original timeline they were born in was because she was convinced that SHE was responsible for her husband's death, having pushed Rin's fate onto him. Before he died, she was happily raising her children and loved them. (We later realized that his death had nothing to do with the A-Chan/Rin-Chan cycle. It was just his time to die.)

Fuck, she's pulling a Homura
Exactly! She's totally Homura without the magical girl aspect...
Lol after so many “restarts” they are all crazy. Never mind the fact they aren’t mentally “adults” other than the amount of time they accumulate from restarting.
I understand you mean they didn't really have chance to properly mature, but nobody really have to be "mentally adult" in order to be considered a adult. The way we judge whatever or not someone is an "adult", is only by how long they lived on this planet, whatever they actually matured enough or not, so I'd say "other than the amount of time they accumulated from restarting" is exactly the way everyone becomes an "adult".
AND... that only appears to apply to Rin-chan. A-Chan is living through each life until Rin dies and then resetting and trying again. It's only Rin that's having the weird time leaps and becoming a teenager in an adult body for some unknown reason. So A-Chan is actually an adult.
However, A-Chan is obviously broken, after personally witnessing the death of the girl she loves 27 times, then making the decision that the only way to save her is to NOT be with her, getting together with a guy she doesn't love, having kids with him, and having him die an accidental death and believing that she caused THAT death as well.
However, his accident was NOT part of the "A-Chan's lovers' curse", because, in the timeline where Rin confessed and A-Chan cheated on her at college, Rin meets Koharu on the street and finds out that her father died in an accident.
The real question is: Why does Koharu look so much like A-Chan when she's the one who ISN'T her biological daughter?
I was curious so I went and read the raw. I've gotta say the ending is all kinds of fucking up. Rin talks A-chan into going back to the past all over again and marry the dude again, so that after he dies Rin can get her dream family (A-chan as wife + three daughters). That's so messed up. A-chan doesn't even love the dude and Rin is forcing her to marry him just so she can get his kids for herself after he dies. Rin's fucking crazy.
Well... that's interesting... I don't know that it's all that messed up though. A-chan obviously cared for him enough to be able to have two kids with him the first time they were together and, based on the knowledge from the last timeline where she wasn't with him and Rin was with her coworker and jumped to her death, A-Chan shouldn't feel like his death was her fault anymore. Not to mention that by marrying him she, and Rin, can provide a home for Koharu instead of leaving her with no family when her father dies. Knowing that Rin dies in all of the scenarios where she and A-Chan get together when Rin is still in school and Koharu ends up an orphan in the scenario where A-Chan doesn't marry her father, the only responsible thing to do, since Rin at least loves Koharu (and I presume A-Chan does as well, despite her being thoroughly messed up by her obsession with Rin) is to have A-Chan marry the guy and provide the family Koharu needs. Knowledge of the future results in responsibility beyond personal feelings and A-Chan is doing it for her love of Rin in the long run, knowing that she is also helping the guy be happy in the last few years of his life. Not a problem...

Oh my :o What an interesting one shot. I wouldn't mind seeing an after story of these two a few years after or something.
That would be interesting but I think the plot of it should be...
Wouldn't it make more sense if they just join forces and hunt the girl down while developing their relationship?
Just sayin
^^ THAT! It would have been fun to have a short series of them developing their relationship while hunting down the con artist who swindled them both and getting her caught in a sting operation and caught by the cops.
Being conned by the same woman, I dont think miracles mean what they think it means. The word should be "coincidence".
It seems you didn't get the meaning of the title as well (:
Um... I don't think that the coincidence of them being conned by the same woman is what was considered the "miracle"... after all, that didn't happen on the "Rooftop". What happened on the "Rooftop" was the two of them planning to commit suicide at the same time and discovering that they were both there for the same reason... so... yeah... still a coincidence, but they're alive so it can be considered miraculous.
Somewhere, in a parallel universe, an otome game misses their "suddenly lesbian" villainess.
This comment wins!
That was is intense.
Yes, yes it was....
This isn't really "gay for pay". One of the characters is gay and works as lesbian prostitute. The other character is gay but works as a porn actress with men. If there was a "straight for pay" tag, then that would work, but "gay for pay" really doesn't apply to either of them.
...
this is a masterpiece
I agree... to both...
The plot twist at the end made me laugh.
Forced happy ending.
And I don't understand how it links back to a light fixture hanging from the ceiling
シャンデリア = Shanderia = Chandelier = The name of the women's only nightclub where Rika works. The "SHINJUKU" on the ad on this page:
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/chandelier#2
is probably not the correct translation. Of course, I got this by putting the word "Chandelier" into Google Translate, so take it as you will. It is probably a loan word.
Or maybe Rika was going to hang herself from it? Too dark?
As for the "Forced happy ending"... it's only as happy as they make it. It's a forced NON-TRAGIC ending with, I presume, Rika leaving sex work, Sachie leaving the porn industry, and maybe having enough money to open that shop Rika talked about with her ex who stole ran off with her life savings. (If Sachie's life savings that she dumped on Rika for services rendered were sufficient, that is...) But living... most likely together...
The happy part is all on them.
oh no, didnt expect that. but that's a great dedication. :)
I totally agree. The dedication makes the manga. I don't care how cheesy or unrealistic the story is with its string of coincidental happenings from names (a dead porn star and prostitute both named Rika) to life circumstances (a prostitute whose ex stole her money and left her and her client, who is a porn star who only got into the business to chase after the girl she loved [talk about looking for love in all the wrong places!] and found out said girl was murdered, both wanting to commit suicide). The dedication made the feels hit home.
Wait, are they both dead...or...???
No, Sachie's friend Rika died. Our MC Rika saved Sachie just before she jumped in front of a train, technically in exchange for saving her from her own suicidal thoughts a little while before that.
I know that, but the last sentence implies something other than MC Rika wanted to die but changed her mind later on. I just feel like it implies that this is the same Rika or something like that.
I don't see any implication that this was the same Rika. It's not some sort of supernatural story about the ghost of Rika appearing as a prostitute to safe Sachie's life. If it was Rika-the-Porn-Star's ghost, Rika-the-Prostitute wouldn't need to look up the Rika-the-Porn-Star's information on the internet to see if she really looked like her before rushing off to save Sachie's life, would she?
It is an outrageous coincidence that a girl who is 8 years younger than Rika-the-Porn-Star who happens to have a similar physical appearance and goes by the same name (at least at the club... we don't know for sure that Rika is her real name... I mean... would you use your real name if you were working as a hooker?) and, due to crappy life circumstances, is working as a prostitute to make ends meet. If you look at the extra it shows them going to Rika-the-Porn-Star's funeral and lists their ages:

Ok, thanks. I think some elements deceived me. In the past two chapters Aya seemed to have accepted her love life with Risa, she even had a talk with her mother and she had a different hairstyle. So I don’t really get it, to me this seems like a big step backwards regarding the development of the characters.
Well to be fair, Aya didn't say anything about breaking up to Risa now. It's just that Risa was recalling their break up, and due to her weak moment (of period suffering) she lashed out on Aya.
Also, the latest chapter with their current development was 17 (where Aya visits her dad in hospital) and we still see her hesitating. She was asking herself what should she do. So it wasn't like she had taken a decision and now changed it again.
Yeah you’re right. I’m sorry, i have read chapter 24 again and now i see my mistake. It has been six months i think, so i didn’t remember it well. I thought chapter 24 was their latest development, so chapter 30 was kinda strange to me. But rereading chapter 24 I understood it was from the past and the latest development was chapter 17 like you said. Now it all makes sense, my bad
It was confusing. The hairstyle change is the key. It clearly shows what Aya looked like when they met for the first time when they were freshmen in college as being the same hairstyle as the later scenes in the chapter where they have the pretend wedding. So that would be during the time period when they were happily dating and, from what that chapter says, Aya claimed to not plan on doing the whole "marry a guy after college" thing. Obviously, something changed that lead to the flashback scene at the beginning of chapter 30 when she broke up with Risa and ended up married to a guy who left her 6 months later.
At this point, they are still just friends with benefits when Aya gets drunk, pretty much. But it is clear that Aya DOES still love Risa, she just can't admit it because of her parents.
Chapter 30 is painful AF, but it was needed. It's been pretty clear that Aya has been getting more and more frustrated.
I guess the author just chose the route of "love just happens!" And the development to happen reaaally slowly...
That's how I like to picture it. Shiho was just being herself when they met. She found the jewelry and returned it to it's owner. No fuss. Then they hit it off. I'm actually fine if we don't get every detail about how that happened.
This is precious! When the FIRST met I got the feeling that Akari didn't mind having an obstructed view of the band at all because she very much preferred the view of the photographer. Then when that same photographer was the person who had been thoughtful enough to pick up her lost earring and return it to her, she was just totally smitten. From there it was a matter of Shiho getting the drift and falling too. I'm kind of reading Shioh as demi. They had to form a relationship and a bond before she went from tolerating the pushy woman to enjoying time with a friend to being in love. The fact that she got the rings says volumes!

I like the setup of the story. It's very easy to understand. Sahoko is going to a class reunion in hopes of seeing Aoi, who she hasn't been able to get out of her mind even though they've lost touch after Aoi stopped responding to her messages as frequently and she eventually stopped sending them, probably because she felt like she would seem desperate if she continued sending messages to someone who wasn't replying. They were extremely close in high school. She kissed Aoi out of the blue when they barely knew each other but both denied that they had "those kinds of feelings", but as the years have gone on and Sahoko has matured a bit and, probably, found that she doesn't click with men at all (though she has probably also not gone out with other women) she has come to wonder if they were lying to themselves back then and if there wasn't more than friendship there. But she fears that she's the only one of the two that wants to see the other.
Meanwhile, Anna, who has never liked Aoi, at least in terms of Aoi being close to Sahoko, would be happier if Aoi didn't show up. But she doesn't seem to have the guts to tell Sahoko how SHE feels either because it's pretty obvious that she's been harboring a long term crush on her friend.
Not that hard to understand at all...
