For those who were waiting for Sunstone to end, it ended yesterday. But we will probablly get a lot more about Lisa and Ally in the next parts.

What next parts if it ended?

Sejic has plans to draw stories about two other couples in the series, both of them het, though: Alan x Anne and Marion x James. Ally x Lisa will appear in them as side characters, and there is also the fourth installment about which little is known except that it ends with Ally and Lisa's wedding.

For those people, they need to find something to love... A reason to keep going, although better but harder would be to find someone to love or someone who loves them.
All You Need Is Love

inb4 Nya-chan fervently arguing that needing love is a cultural thing and how it pisses them off when others just automatically presume that everyone needs love. XD

I also feel that this story's writing is extremely disjointed. Characterization points just don't fit together with each other, and yet the author keeps steamrolling over them to get to the next plot point, resulting in strange leaps of judgement and causality.

@Nya-chan: Maybe that's the whole point? There is nothing unusual with a mistress being insecure when her relationship suddenly becomes more than just play. Ally from Sunstone is a perfect example (though, of course, Sejic has a much better grasp on story pacing).

I, for one, welcome our new alligator overlords.

Though alligators and crocodiles share very similar appearances...

You must be really fun at parties. :D

There is a trope for that kind of attitude: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HatesEveryoneEqually

Damn you. I just got sucked into TV Tropes! I had things I needed to do today . . .

A rookie mistake. :P

I wonder whether there are any Victoria x Sieglinde doujins out there? The two have always struck me as prime couple material that's been thoroughly neglected by everyone. :-(

But Detective Conan is good shit, I love it. Even if "PLOT" wise it hardly has real development, each case is still interesting. They're still just hundreds of cases and not tackling the more important issues, but it's still fairly enjoyable and intriguing

That's exactly how I feel about "Shinozaki", just substitute "cases" with "fangirl shenanigans". :-)

Thanks for the translation!

Are these two a new pairing? I don't remember them at all, but I have bad memory, anyway. :-/

I trust the author can make it feel fresh and keep going some more but I rather a good ending now than watching this series become pokemon, if Ash wins the league then it's over, if Ash keeps the evolved pokemon he becomes too strong so he leaves them behind, he doesn't even grows old or remember the friends he leaves behind... This could be Akina (okay maybe she won't have 500 episodes but...) and I don't want that.

There is a quite obvious time progression in the series (counted from one Comiket to the next), so sooner or later, she will have to at least graduate from school. :D I think a more apt bad role model would be Sasameki Koto, which floundered around for many years before ever the author grew bored with it and put it out of its misery with the most anticlimactic ending ever.

And By The way, when did you started reading this? maybe the main reason why I'm so worried is because I'm here since the release of the first chapter 3 years ago! can you blame us for feeling disappointing after 3 years ? sigh ... Frankly I just want this to end around chapter 50, that would be great and for the new readers it would be excellent.

Three years is hardly anything to get worked about, on the grand scale. Some parts of the Nanoha fandom have been waiting for interesting plot developments since ViVid launched in 2009. :D But to answer your question, I think I got in on Shinozaki about a year ago, so I guess chapter 25-26?

But wouldn't any real change negate the very premise of the series and thus end it?

Only if the writer isn't good at their job. But if they're relying solely on formula, sure.

I am not sure what this author's record is (or whether they have much of one), so I cannot judge how good they are at their job. However, from a pure narratological perspective, once the core story premise is resolved, it must either be replaced with a new one, or the story needs to end. Personally, I find both options unsatisfying, as I quite enjoy the current premise at the moment and don't think it has been sufficiently mined for comedy yet. :-)

This starts to sound like a regular shipper argument to me. And if my Nanoha fandom experience taught me anything, these never lead anywhere, so I am respectfully bowing out at this point. :-)

What level of yuri are you on now, my dude?

Doesn't matter: we need to go deeper.

But at the same time the lack of progress give you less reasons to pick a manga later.

At some point I will probably start reading again from the beginning. But now I'm lacking motivation, I guess.

Well, my motivation to read every new chapter is the wacky fangirl hijinks. If you are only in it for the yuri, I guess it could be frustrating, but in that case, I can recommend a website with lots of free yuri manga to you, if you're interested. :-)

Progress doesn't necessarily means yuri development, we would love that of course but any real change in Akina's mind or heart would be welcome (and one that doesn't reset in the next chapter).

But wouldn't any real change negate the very premise of the series and thus end it?

I think that's how it was presented by the end so I understand why you would see it that way. And that's the saddest things. I am more salty about ending the Miyuki x Yuri than Hikari and Light coming into the picture.

There's nothing before the last volume that says Yuri and Miyuki's relation is like this. I remember Miyuki saying she'd trade the world for Yuri. It was an abrupt turn and it feels like a total cop out. Just because someone suffers does not mean what they do after must be nothing more than "coping mechanism".

So to sum up: Miyuki x Yuri was perfectly fine - no - fucking amazing before last volume killed it.

A valid concern, but AFAIK the manga was almost axed after volume 4, so Ogino had to cram the plot developments of several volumes into the single last one. It's not just the romantic arcs that got rushed -- you'd notice that several months worth of the main arc were just glossed over, straight to the final battle. In retrospect, Miyuki and Yuri's other relationships had been foreshadowed pretty clearly, and pursuing them wouldn't have been an easy decision for either of them. However, time constraints meant that the author could either end the manga with no resolution to the romantic arcs (I guess you'd prefer that, though, as you were fine with Miyuki x Yuri as they were), or pull through with his original plans for the story without proper build-up.

I like nonstandard narratives when they actually progress as a narrative but this one has sorta been sitting in stasis for a while now and just rehashing that theme over and over again without really doing anything more with it.

Lack of progress is fine, as long as it is entertaining. If it isn't entertaining for you anymore, then I guess we won't come to an agreement on this, but I meant "non-standard" not in the structural sense that Nez pointed out, but more in the premise/detail sense: I don't know of any other manga that plays its MC's denial of her fangirl nature off that of her yuriness, and I find this combo unusual and entertaining, even despite the lack of narrative development.

If I may play the devil's advocate some more, a lack of progress, for one thing, does make it easier to pick up a manga four months after the last chapter was released and still remember what the heck was going on there. ;-)

Bait?

Incest yuri bait, I am guessing. But anyway, I was fine with how it turned out in the end. I came to see Yuri and Miyuki's relationship was more of a coping mechanism after Midori's death than an actual attraction, and this is not a healthy thing to base your relationship on (note that I don't mind incest at all).

I feel like if I were a poor otaku fan her attitude might be oddly reassuring. Like, any idol might claim she loves her fans etc, but who's gonna believe it? In real life she's gonna hobnob with the handsome and the wealthy, not with slobs like me.
At least with Sana, I'd know that the people I envy get the same attitude as me, and that she might hate me but it's somehow nothing personal--it's not because I'm an otaku or because I'm out of shape or because I have poor social skills or any of the other things I hate about myself. So it'd be kind of OK; in a bizarre inverted way she's accepting me for who I am.
(Disclaimer note: This is a discussion of a hypothetical "I"; the real me is not actually the rabid fan type, or poor or self-loathing; to the contrary, I have a large ego kept in check mainly by my awareness of it)

There is a trope for that kind of attitude: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HatesEveryoneEqually

why is it turning like Citrus

what
You mean, how repetitive it is or...?

I mean yuri being shown as intial focus of the story but later turned into something else.

This manga's narrative theme is "living in denial", so Shinozaki's struggle with her otaku tendencies and her attraction to another girl are just two faces of the same coin. I know some readers here have one-track minds only interested in yuri romance, but others, including yours truly, quite enjoy non-standard narratives likes this. :-)
