I came to ask about a short summary of the story so far... But looks like everything went to heck in the last chapters?
I only saw the first chapter back when hachimitsu took it but being a romance build on a lie you know it will eventually lead to a confrontation and conflict which in many cases is handled really bad... I wanted to know about that, did it happen already? everyone knows he is crossdressing ?

They are in middle of solving it, but well, the manga is great in general and when the lie was finally revealed, they did something uncommon in most of stories. They talked it over like a reasonable people.

A pair of them show up later in the manga and are used as assassins. That page even says that there has been sightings in recent years.

Elvis Presley was sighted numerous time as well by people after his dead. And well, thanks to manga getting licensed and not posted on dynasty anymore I don't keep up with it anymore. Didn't even know someone still translates it.

Compared to no happy ending at all, yeah, it's a much better alternative.

They're not.

Well they were confirmed extinct in the series. They had a dedicated page in one of the world trivia at the end of chapter.

This chapter implies that the reason they might went extinct was because unlike centaurs, they weren't good at running or walking long distances and couldn't carry a lot of things on their back.

If you check forum everyday you should be able to keep track of it. At worse you just need to remember names of all works/threads, but especially if you read something or post somewhere regularly that should be easy enough.

I agree his sister is pretty clearly trans, but Ren could easily just enjoy cross-dressing and not necessary experience gender dysphoria. Ren's case is indeed more open, especially with ending where they talk how he will change with age and stop being able to look like a girl and how mc will react to it. They never really bring the hormones or operation as a option. It might be just author not knowing the subject, but it can be as well the way they intended it to be seen.

Wasn't hinted at? Where were you for books 3 and 4? Korrasami had a bigger fanbase than Makorra, did you think we just sprang out of nowhere? The subtext was there, yuri fans should have easily spotted it.

It wasn't. I watched entire show and only time I got a yuri vibe (and I get yuri vibe from the smallest of stuff), was when Asami commented that Korra got cute hair style and Korra blushed. It was somewhere at the beginning of season 3 and that was it. Sure you could ship them normally, but you would be hard pressed to find any evidences in the show. Especially since creators had their hands tight and if they were to make anything too explicit, Nickelodeon would cut it short immediately. They specifically stated they had to hid the idea from them until the very end and only could officially confirm it on a blog, outside the show, once it ended. I was already a huge yuri fan back then, and I didn't even catch the ending and though they were just friends going on adventure. That is how vague it was. So please, don't give me that it was hinted. It wasn't. Shit load of people complained they have no issue with it, but it came out of nowhere and felt totally unexpected.

I already made a rant about it, how clear the difference between het and gay romance is. You can read it here, but short version is, het is all over the show, but you need a magnifying glass to find any traces of gay anywhere.

Besides that, the fire nation explanation was just world building.

Sounds like shitty world bulding to me, since it wasn't ever addressed and was never a problem in the either of shows. It sounds more like a stupid retcon to show how cool and progressive we are and how old villain was even badder than we thought, because he didn't like gays in a story where our main protagonist are gays! (ignore the fact, he conquered the world and ruled it with iron fist, while killing everyone who dares to oppose him. People won't get he is bad until we make him homophobic too!)

It had nothing to do with their relationship since they were part of Republic city, which used to be part of the Earth Kingdom, which they explained had always been socially opposed to homosexuality.

Because solders serving in it, felt weird changing and bathing together with gay man. It had nothing to do with any dictatorship etc. and more with fear and common misconceptions gay people fuck everyone as long as they are the same sex as them. They just felt uncomfortable they would be checked out etc.

And? You didn't really disprove their point. Just because they are similar in 1 aspect it doesn't mean they are identical in everything else.

Well first thing I remembered and looked for was if the hair was covering their eyes and it does not. Then after re-watching the video, I looked at the comparison again (as this and trailer is only things I saw). I mean, the old school way of drawing everything by hand definitely had it's charm and had more details, especially in hair, but I can't say new anime didn't try to adopt it. Also as was mentioned in the video, the old designs, didn't focus on it, but guys still were pretty handsome, again the same thing I see here. Maybe a bit more obvious, but I can tell they tried to not make them too pretty and give them more of a personality. My point was, sure, it looks prettier, but at least to me it looks like they are actually trying, so dismissing entire show, because characters are too bish looking sounds a bit disrespectful to creators. At least it seems like they try to hit all the good notes the old adaptation did.

That is how most of shoujo mangas works. Instead of development and progress, we got sudden conflicts and obstacles to generate tension and drama to keep reader reading and wanting to know if things will turn out ok. So yes, Japanese audience is much more used to that kind of stuff, because that is how most of their romance stories goes and they love it, if popular shoujo mangas are any indications. NTR and (especially) Citrus uses very similar tactics and way of story telling, that is why I'm not supersized they are very popular in Japan.

Them looking more bish is not really a problem. The new designs looks more modern but they still seem to keep to the old aesthetics. If you are interested, here is a great video on that exact issue and how to do it poorly.

I don't think it is anything like Steven Universe. I used to read manga, it has pretty interesting concept and world. It gets even pretty sad and dark later. About gender thing, I remember they first used "she" for everyone except bold monk, because, well, kinda would sound weird (I don't remember if series later changed tl or not, but I think it was google tl for most/all time, so quality of tl might not be that good) and it fit and I even saw them more as female, but at some point translator either changed or old one realized that they all are technically genderless, so because of that they decided to change their pronoun to he because that is the default way or something. I could still head canon them as female, but it really ruined my reading experience, so i dropped it shortly after (and it was starting to get really depressing).

Well i guess certain stories like incest, have that "it's a taboo so it's more exciting" vibe going for some people. Even some homosexual stories, especially some yaoi, could be liked by certain people because it feels taboo. So I kinda get why someone could read yuri because it is taboo. That being said I definitely don't consider it as such and hope we will get to the point where it will be something normal for everyone soon enough.
