To me, Rin, Maki and Nico are all obviously cats, so this fits. Honoka is somewhat tailwagging and jump up on you and slobber, on the other hand, so ...

I read the story as Nico got mad and insulted THE Honoka and mentioned fish - poof cat. When she got mad again, cat all the way. When she responded to Honoka's love she turned back halfway, then when she said thanks she turned back..

But that leads to the conclusion that Rin was being that way to someone - hope it's not Hanayo. Maki? After all, in this one neither Nico nor Honoka are with her, and Rin's one of her semi-common pairings. [on edit] it probably is hanayo. :(

Oh and Nozotitties didn't interfere once she realized it was a love-spell to cure Nico's bad attitude.

That's also true in the anime and manga and SIF and the diaries, though. Nico DOES look a lot like Umi. She looks like she could be her little sister. You only notice it when her hair's down. Remember the scene where Nico is being all cool and grownup for Nozomi's video and Nozomi cruelly walks away? Re-watch it and if you didn't know it was Nico you'd assume it was Umi.

Umi looks like she could be a Yazawa cousin, minus the red eyes.
