^Yup it should be unfortunate / unlucky / pitiable - she is plainly not a loser- when anything happens it isnt because she deliberately does something pathetic, just that she had bad luck- like the crow stealing her lolly or wearing the coat hanger.
I think loser is a bad way to translate 残念な (Zan'nen'na) because looser doesnt convey bad luck really, more a pathetic person who always looses because of how pathetic they are.
