Ew. The older sister is such a bitch. So is the friend group. I don't really think a bit of kindness sometimes is good justification for being a horrible person most of the time. I think the only thing that would make me like her more is if during times of importance, she chooses her sister or her girlfriend instead of her friends.
Whenever I see comments like this, it always makes me wonder what would count as a good person for people? Someone perfect who never has clashes with other people? A people pleaser? A Mary Sue? It's just weird how some characters who aren't happy or always nice gets treated as if they've committed a war crime.
I've always found the personalities and relationships of the siblings here very realistic and human. I'm an only child myself but grew up around big families and teasing squabbles like the ones depicted here are pretty commonplace. Sometimes harsh words can be said or selfish actions are taken especially when you're young (like the siblings here) but it's never meant with malice at the end of the day. Often it's when you're both young that things seem so heavy or impactful because you don't really get the big picture look yet like the one the protagonist has near the end of the story. That dynamic is pretty clear with the siblings here and it's pretty important to note that we only have the perspective of the younger sister.
All that to say, I don't think the older sister is a bitch or an asshole or anything like that. Childish and petty maybe but nothing too big to villify. Plus, both siblings are on the stairway to adulthood. A lot of growing up to do still.
