Anyone watching this show? It's an HBO/BBC production about a English landowner who is a lesbian, in the early 19th Century. The story is supposedly based on a true story (Anne Lister actually did exist, and her personal diaries survive), but I wouldn't be surprised if they took quite a few liberties for the sake of better drama. That being said, the costuming, set design, and style of speech all do a really good job of evoking the era (I guess you would call it a Regency romance?) and even though the main plot is about her relationship with another woman, there's a lot of stuff about her role as the master of a manor: dealings with her tenants and servants, drama with her relatives, and her business dealings regarding coal mining.

Whether they added stuff in or not—Her life was itself drama xD Her diary survived, and it showed that she had intimate relationships with women. Her notable relationships were the high school girl (who was part Indian) who became depressed after their breakup and Anne’s infidelity, the long term relationship in which her partner married a man and broke off the relationship due to not wanting to be exposed as a lesbian any further, and the woman she got “married” to.
