You might want to have a re-read then. Don't start from chapter 1, just take a few random middle or last chapters, and don't think about it too hard. You will see that they share such a special kind of relationship.

^yes, you can definitely have fun just playing the game being a f2p. The game has so much contents, and just exploring the story and the map is super fun. Do remember that it's a gacha game, so do try to contain yourself if there's a new character that you can't get. Be happy with what you get, play how you want, don't try to optimize the resin (daily energy to farm) and you will have much more fun.

As someone who has read this serie since secondary school and now is a second year in high school, I am very happy to see the serie has reached this far. Very very happy to know that the serie will still continue!
