I think that's because we often see the story from her POV at different points in her life. Sometimes she's shown as a child, and other times as a teenager.

As for the game show, it's actually based on a real variety show called Beautiful Kitchen. I remember watching it when I was younger.

For me, the focus is more on the character’s story and relationships rather than their skin tone.

what kind of name is "texas"

"Texas" is not her real name, just a codename
and the "Texas" is probably not named after the US state, but rather the extinct Texas wolf, possibly a reference to her lore too.
