Is it just me, or has yuri lately been VERY angsty, full of drama and with bad endings? Sure seems that way to me...

It always was like that. Rather we were lucky to get some nice, fluffy and with good endings recently.

Well, that wouldn't have been as dramatic, would it? Because her getting a new girlfriend wouldn't have hit as hard (at least for me...)

Sure new bf strikes harder than new gf, but mostly because with new gf, it would be just "i wasn't good enough for her?" with new bf, you got also entire "was she serious about me? did she even love me? maybe she wasn't lesbian after all" stuff, that adds way more to the news. I honestly think you think that way only because of those unconscious (or conscious) implications that we learned to add when hearing that one of girls broke the relationship because of the bf. It just has inherently more drama and I don't think that is a good thing, because it as well always make us naturally think of the other girl as a bad person, whatever her choice was justified or not.

It's because we as outsiders end up focusing more on the act of break up in itself, when the final axe comes down. Really what made her a "bad person" was not being outright about wanting to date someone else. I mean Sachiko obviously still felt like their relationship stood a chance. My experience from long distance tells me that being honest about your faith in the relationship is basically everything once you loose that faith it's over. But life never goes on pause really.

Cute fluffy yuri, while giving us fans the blissful joy of getting happy endings, it's almost always so unreal to the point of being ridiculous, and I can't take it seriously. On the other hand, the angsty story kind would break my heart, and I wouldn't forget them.

Also, it is indeed true that long-distance relationship needs absolute faith to keep the love going, but people are such lonely creatures they tend to fall apart very quickly when they fail to give/ receive any attention. That's why it absolutely sucks and that's also why this story feels real.

Yeah, the teasing between couples is one of the best yuri catalysts, for me. I have read this series over and over again and still have not gotten sick of it, it's so cute.

When it was mentioned that they "see the world as "us and "everyone else", it reminds me of the Hitachiin twins from Ouran Host Club. So their love for each other, IMHO, might be a little different from most other people's; it's like they only love each other (or think that they love each other) because no one else has ever been able to enter their world.

I have this strange feeling while reading this, like what i felt when I read "Sputnik Sweetheart". Mysterious, philosophical, and a tinge of tragedy/depression.

It was a good read, clearly left a deep impression on the readers, though not very satisfying because, just admit it, everyone loves a happy ending.

I enjoy the secret story this oneshot tells:

Aside from Yuri Hime and Hirari, Tsubomi used to be one of the only other big names in yuri publishing. It has since gone out of business, but recently Mebae has taken its place (it is also the magazine this oneshot ran in). This story literally has Mebae sending love letters to Tsubomi. I consider this oneshot as a love letter from Mebae (or the author) for all the good Tsubomi has done for yuri.

It has a lot of amusing parallels which further personify these magazines as their characters:

"I found Senpai at a book store I just happened to visit" and "After some time, she graduated, but I ended up entering the same world as her." start the story off strong on Mebae talking about finding a Tsubomi magazine, and then Tsubomi going out of business but having Mebae enter the industry soon after.

"You were born in April, Me-chan." Refers to Mebae's Volume 1 release on April 31st 2014.

"I've graduated, we live in different worlds now" again refers to Tsubomi going out of business, but then Mebae responds "We're together! I chose to enter this industry so I could be closer to you, Senpai". Pretty obvious.

Tsubomi has a lot of stories that never get to the kiss (infuriatingly, at times), hence the kissless virgin moment.

Tsubomi ran for 21 volumes, thus "There's 21 minutes left to my birthday" and the subsequent "Unfortunately, I'm out of time" when those 21 minutes are up.

Unrelated specifically to this oneshot, but Tsubomi means flower bud and Mebae means seedling. This connection runs deep!

This is possibly the first instance of someone shipping yuri magazines in a yuri magazine.

This is just... wow. I did notice the kouhai's name is the same as the name of the magazine, and somewhat felt it must have some other meaning, but to have all the dots connected like this, it's amazing.

Now I don't really care if this series has more yuri or not. The interactions between Ran and Keiko are just so cute and interesting, enough to make anyone enjoy it.

It's such a shame that I'll never get to own the third volume with English translation, but at least now I finally get to finish this series after years of waiting. Such a bittersweet ending though. I do feel sorry for Anzu near the end of the story too.

Oh my, I can smell drama from here...

It's almost like a climax of the story, I think. No-rae getting jealous over Seol-a and her guy friend is so intense, it's not often that we can see that kind of serious expression on her face, but it's really nice, we can see how complex her character is, No-rae is not just all smiles and laughs but she has seriously overwhelming emotions too. But I have to say, the scene with No-rae's hand on Seol-a's face/neck is the best ლ(́◉◞౪◟◉‵ლ) The yuri goddess finally appears in front of them!!!
