Very cute manga. The four panel format reminds me a lot of Azumanga Daioh.

It's not surprising. After all, Azumanga Daioh more or less invented the yuri-innuendoish girls-in-school slice-of-life four-panel-format genre.

“They’re all ♡ friends ♡ and sexual ♡ minorities”
Lol yeah right.

Haha. The Asa-Gin interaction in these chapters makes the "all ♡ friends ♡" bit kind of hard to sell.

Asa is still my favorite character. She really went all-out with the villainous act this time... but, somehow, it only made even more obvious that it's just a show. You know, I really can't figure what it is that she wants from Sumon. Why would a lesbian care so much about some hunky stud's love life? Why is she so adamant about making him date Gin? I wish Gin had the pluck to demand an explanation.

Next chapter we'll find about her past, it would seem. (Color me surprised: I hadn't pegged her for someone with a Marimite background! lol)

Sowwy. >_< I was so eager to announce the good news (chapter 6 is out) that I didn't even realize I was spoiling the plot.

Chapter 6 has already been released! I guess it'll be uploaded here soon.

A new loli appears, Hime-chan. She's Coco's classmate, and has a crush on her, which makes her Minori's rival. But too bad, it looks like Coco only is interested in Minori. (Such a lucky pedo lady, Minori is.)

There might be someone else for her Hime, however: she made a really big effect on Yuu-sempai... :D

(Hehehe, Yuu had always claimed she wasn't a lolicon, but it looks like the problem was that she hadn't met the right loli yet!)

Is it just me, or was the whole “clarinet/nimble fingers” thing sort of lewd?

Hehe, the magical fingers of a musician, one of the oldest clichés in the book.

As demonstrated here by Suzi Nielsen from MA3. Thank you, Miss Nielsen.

And because I'm a giant weirdo, all I thought was "Huh, she must be a lefty then, because she's using her pick hand and not her fretting hand otherwise", and I can't say there's a lot of extra dexterity in the pick hand compared to the fret hand. XD

Haha. I had never noticed that before. You know, you're absolutely right.
Lemme see, was Suzi always supposed to be a lefty?

... I can't remember right now. >_< Doh. I guess, if I want to make certain, I'll have to go check the comic archive and find some strips where she appears playing the guitar.

Okay, this is hysterically funny. How come I had never heard of this manga before???

The teacher in chapter 6, rather than a character, is an avatar for pretty much every yuri fan in this forum. I think I recognized all her lines as comments I have read here, in some thread or other. :P

You’re right, the reading of that scene is a “ymmv” deal.

But I thought this was an odd way to put the argument:

Imho, we'd have to assume Kasumi is way more dense or spacey than she actually is to make that work.

Considering that the whole sequence is set up by Sakurako musing about Kasumi, “Considering that she’s always so spacey, what is she going to do if she gets attacked all of a sudden?”

I think we all agree that one part of what Kasumi is saying to Sakurako is, “What you’re doing doesn’t bother me enough to make the effort to resist.”

As I’ve said before, my view is and has been these two love each other and are as “together” as together can be. But I have yet to see a specifically sexual read of the relationship (from Kasumi’s POV) that’s based on something more overt than an ambiguous inference.

(We may just be arguing about the difference between, “I don’t mind having sex with you because it’s too much trouble to object” and “I want to have sex with you.” lol)

You might well be right.

In the end, it's plain that the author prefers to keep it ambiguous -- probably because she feels it's not really that relevant to the focal point of the series, which is the love story of Kasumi and Sakurako. I was just rereading the other day some old manga by Akiko Morishima and found this sweet, adorable scene: Chitose and Yae sleeping together in one bed while Yae narrates to us her thoughts. You see, Yae had been worried for a long time about the exact definition of lesbian sex: when does cuddling/petting/canoodling stops and sex begins? Are the two of them having sex or not? Is there a directive they are failing to follow? And here, in this bit of internal monologue, she finally comes to the conclusion that it doesn't really matter: they love each other, they are a couple, and that's what's really important to her and all one needs to know.

Yukiko-sensei would probably subscribe to that idea -- at least when it concerns the (practically married) relationship of her two main protagonists.

I agree that there’s nothing in the pilot that’s incommensurate with the rest of the series, so to me the argument about whether it’s “canon” is rather beside the point.

I'd say it's a standard part of the series. When serialization began, the author made an effort to make everything in the series fit with the pilot -- even the small details, like Kasumi's dress in her first meeting with Sakurako. In numbers, the pilot should be chapter 0 of the manga, thus as "canon" as the rest of the chapters.

I take her “Why would I resist?” response as an actual question, one of her standard “I need a compelling reason to do more than I want to do, which is nothing” questions. So the “this” she’s “not against” is basic skinship with Sakurako. The situation is Sakurako’s (supposed) testing of Kasumi’s reaction to being “attacked,” but obviously Kasumi doesn’t read Sakurako as a danger, since she’s just doing what they normally do, only in a more uncomfortable (to Kasumi) posture.

Imho, we'd have to assume Kasumi is way more dense or spacey than she actually is to make that work. "If I was against this, we wouldn't be sleeping in the same bed." Sakurako knows Kasumi is ok with skinship, and Kasumi knows that Sakurako knows, but this time Sakurako's behavior and reactions are wildly different -- and there's no way a girl like Kasumi wouldn't realize what the whole scene is about. Heck, even an obtuse boy who just turned into a girl would get it right, as shown in that example that was in the OP.

But I do understand that ymmv.

Probably referring to the random jackasses Fujishiro keeps blowing up at for trash-taking her precioussss.

Yeah, that's most likely.

You could also include that asshole teacher who harassed Kurokawa and got Fujishiro suspended.

Whoa. My image of Ayano was completely wrong. I thought she was a more or less naive young girl who was crushing on Chika and starting to discover her sexuality (ecchi fantasies, masturbation) focusing solely on Chika. As it turns out, there's little for her to discover: she's a shameless lolicon with a raging lust for cute grade schoolers, and has been for a long time already! Her thing for Chika is, like, just a new branch in the already lush tree of her sexual interests.

Middle schoolers looking at grade schoolers and drooling with desire... lol. I love this manga.

Nikaidou doesn't know yet that Kirigaya is an evil bully who made Tadokoro's life miserable during middle school... right?

Oh dear. Wait till she finds out.

I foresee a scene in the future where Tadokoro-san (who is an angel character) will need to say: "No, Nikaidou-san, stop, don't pummel Kirigaya-san into hamburger, I have already forgiven her, really I have."

It's not a chapter of 'Sekai de Ichiban Oppai ga Suki!' if Harumi doesn't get to say at least one tsukkomi line.

Harumi Hana: born to be the straight man.

Which is a boke line in itself, and in dire need of a tsukkomi reply, because Harumi is actually a queer woman.

He just pulled off a Shinji Ikari

I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers that.

"Saitei da, ore'tte..."

It was the first time he used the assertive/manly "ore" (instead of the subdued/childlike "boku") to refer to himself. A sign that he was growing up. The context, though... lol.

I sometimes feel that Kasumi must be blood-related to Yasuda-sempai from this manga here.

Haha. It's amusing that you picked that scene as an example, because the exact same thing actually happens in this manga (in the pilot episode, the "chapter 0" of the series). Sakurako is thinking about how Kasumi is so beautiful and so popular with the guys, always receiving love letters and invitations and whatnot, and starts worrying: what would happen if one day some bad man tries to assault Kasumi? Would Kasumi resist and escape!? Or would her superhuman laziness stop her from even putting up a fight???

She decides to put it to the test, and mock-assaults Kasumi who is on the bed having a nap. Kasumi doesn't resist at all, and Sakurako breaks down in tears -- wailing that Kasumi is WAY TOO LAZY, and that one day a real molester will have her way with her, and it's all so sad and tragic, and and and... And, at that point, Kasumi cuts in and says: "What are you talking about? Why would I resist your sexual advances? If I was against it, I wouldn't sleep in the same bed with you!" Which leaves Sakurako totally flabbergasted, heh.

I've noticed a lot of people tend to forget that scene when discussing the nature of the relationship between the two girls. Then again, since it was in the pilot, maybe they don't take it as canon?

Cute story though I don't really like characters like Ryou who refuses to confess and instead expects the other party to "realize" their feelings

A lot of people are passive subs like that: they drop hints and send vibes and expect the other person to catch on and come on to them -- and feel frustrated if their desired one remains clueless. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, it makes for really adorable fluff.

Sub x sub is almost always fluff up the butt. Double top (like certain NicoMaki doujins) are funny when they compete, but double sub is mostly fluff and blushing, which I love.

Yes, exactly.

That last page twist was great.

YES. HELL YES.

The best thing is, we had been shown before that scene from one year ago... but pretty much everyone here had forgotten about it, haha. Well, at least I myself had completely forgotten. :P

So we knew that Kurumi had first fallen in love with Nikaidou at a time when they were both at a café, one year ago. In that flashback, Kurumi was looking at Nikaidou (who was dressed up really cute) crying all alone at the neighboring table. We weren't told exactly what had happened, but we later found (through Nikaidou's inner monologue) that Nikaidou had confessed to Jun and had been rejected more or less at the time of Kurumi's flashback...

... so, putting two and two together, it wouldn't have been difficult to come to the conclusion that Kurumi's flashback scene at the café was of the time when she had witnessed Nikaidou's confession/rejection scene. And thus, she knew perfectly well what was going on with Nikaidou and why she had become a "loose girl" after that.

But I guess nobody in this forum can add two and two, myself included. Doh.

I wonder what face Kyou-chan would make if she knew that, even if she had told Kurumi all the "dirt" she had on Nikaidou, Kurumi would just have said: "Yes, I knew already. I know what's going on. I know more than you. Don't worry, I'll be fine."

Nobody really expected it. This was a masterful twist alright.

WHAT ABOUT HER YURIWORLD SELF? WHAT DID SHE FIND OUT???

I want to know what kind of person she was! What's with this cliffhanger? Argh!!!
