Welders make bank. One of the better blue-collar jobs you can get. Depending on what you're welding, you can make upwards of $72/hr.

I don't think it pays to think too hard about the effect of the amnesia. We know that she's only forgotten the past three years, so unless she's three years old, she should still know how to make breakfast and do things like kiss her girlfriend (which she'd forgotten how to do last chapter). This is comedy amnesia, not anything approximating real amnesia.

This just makes me really happy.

I liked it, of course, but I had been left with the impression from the earlier comic that Mari was a white-collar worker. Remember how flustered Arisa was because Mari was wearing a business suit? Not the kind of thing you wear to a welding job.

But that inconsistency aside, the comic was great. Very sweet. Nice twist that the more tomboy-ish of the two characters was actually the more passive, submissive partner before Arisa lost her memories.

Like the story, and can definitely relate. After my ex-wife and I split up, I found that the thing I missed more than anything was holding hands.

Alas, the art wasn't as good as the story. Maki looked kinda like Maki, and Nico also looked kinda like Maki. Didn't look like Nico at all.

Some people find possessiveness hot and some find it a turn-off, I'm not sure that's specific to language or culture. And to be fair, she did also say "I'm yours" right after that.

Well, a lot of it is that it isn't over. People who feel broken and unloveable aren't going to suddenly do a complete 180 forever from one conversation. It's an ongoing process that requires frequent reassurance and frequent validation.

Besides, Kaede has already said everything she can say to Miyu. "I'm going to keep telling you until you believe it." I have said those very words myself as recently as two days ago. You can't reason someone out of something they didn't reason themselves into in the first place, so there's really not much else TO say. You prove it by repeated support and love over time, not by any verbal exchange. So again it feels very natural to me based on my own personal experiences.

Man, this was beautiful. I can't help but think that all of you folks who are confused by it just haven't had the experience of loving someone who feels like they don't deserve love or happiness for whatever reasons they may have.

Miyu cooked dinner for Kaede. Kaede loved it. Miyu had flashbacks to something in her past where she cooked for someone who hated it and rejected it and she had to feed it to the dog instead. Presumably someone she had strong feelings for since it left such a deep memory. It made Miyu feel loved.

And then Kaede told her she loved her, and they had sex. And Miyu is conflicted. Pages 13 and 14 are all about how Miyu feels worthless and unlovable. She doesn't believe it when Kaede says that she loves her. She doesn't think she deserves it, so obviously Kaede couldn't possibly mean it.

I'm a little unclear on when, exactly, Kaede gets drunk, but it's after that, and after Miyu talks to the other girl in the bar. And then Miyu goes over to Kaede's house some indefinite time later after Kaede has sobered up.

Which brings us to the present day.

Personally, I loved the story. My current partner is very much someone who feels broken and undeserving of love and happiness because she was molested and abused as a child, and we are constantly rubbing up against those issues. Whenever things are going too well between us and she starts to get too happy, something in her psyche kicks in and starts trying to push me away. So the story certainly resonates with me.

Especially in this case when the story is clearly between two people who have been together long enough that it isn't a surprise. If we were seeing their first time together, then yeah, some explanation between the two characters would probably be appropriate. But this story opens up with a well-developed relationship already in place. Any explanations Honoka has made to Maki regarding her willy have already taken place in the past, off-screen, and Maki is clearly okay with it. Having Honks explain it again just for the benefit of the readers would be jarring to me because it would seem so artificial and contrived since Maki knows already and doesn't need to be told.

If you're with the right partner, they wouldn't be laughing at you. You'd be sharing a humorous moment together.

It's interesting to me to see the reactions from people reading this. My current partner and I routinely laugh and joke and playfully mock each other during sex. And by "during sex" I mean "sometimes literally in mid-thrust". So when I read this comic, I mentally pencil myself and my partner into the scene, and it's exactly the kind of thing we do routinely, so I think it's all sweet and fun and happy. Because if this comic were about me and my partner, we'd laugh and kiss and keep on fuckin'.

Other people, presumably without that experience, only see the embarrassment without seeing the close, positive emotional bond that would allow two people to behave as they do in this comic without the mockery being hostile or malicious.

Reminds me of my ex-wife. She hated being playfully mocked or teased. One day we were visiting some friends who routinely enjoyed playfully mocking and teasing each other, calling each other silly names and expressing (facetious) horrified alarm at the various flaws and failings of the other. And I asked my ex "Why don't we joke around with each other like they do?" She replied "Because I have tissue-paper feelings." And that was that.
