Anyways, just was looking for discussion threads on this since I just read Chapter 3 elsewhere. I gotta say, I absolutely adore the development, and cannot wait for the next chapter. Just positively lovely so far, and so desperately deserves far more attention than it currently seems to have.

Regardless of hosting matters, and whatever other sort of circumstances may be going on behind the scenes, I greatly appreciate the work of the scan team. I am quite grateful to be given the opportunity to actually read this.

The plan is, ideally, to host it here soon. I'd prefer to get a revision of chapter 1 done first, though, doubly so after the reaction initial readers gave. I'd encourage everyone to go read it on MangaDex in the meantime, it looks promising!

All I see is this. Which cannot be right, since I made an upload request today, then earlier this week. And even got one approved earlier, I'm even listed as the scanlator.

Your screenshot seems to list only proposed tag changes, by the way. I'm talking about upload requests.

Ohh, yeah I glazed over the "upload request" bit, thanks. The Suggestions Status page is strictly for tag requests, and I think the functionality is probably self-evident at this point. Admittedly, its location, naming and design are all sub-optimal, it would seem.
As for upload requests, there's no way of implementing something like feedback into our current workflow, and to do so would require a significant overhaul somewhere along the way. It is non-ideal, but you're welcome to ping me on Discord anytime if you'd like to ask about any specific upload requests.

If it's about sending a lot of data at once, couldn't it be solved with scroll-based lazy loading? It would also solve the issue of manhwas that somethimes come in as randomly cut up vertical strips.

Yeah, I had the same thoughts. This is still a potential bandwidth sink compared to page-by-page horizontal reading, though. To load an entire manga in our current format requires a mouse click for every page up till the second to last page. To load an entire manga with a scroll-based mechanism, the user could simply scroll to the bottom of the page to initiate loading, then scroll back up and read as normal. I've no evidence that this is something the average user would do, but whenever I'm investigating shady scans on shady vertical sites, that's what I do, so I assume it's at least an ordinary thought that may occur. Would that be enough disincentive to not do it for bandwidth reasons? I'm not really sure, it's probably something worth looking into further.

What exactly does the "suggestion status" button in profile dropdown do? I would assume it shows status of the upload requests by the user, "received", "in review", "approved", etc. Doesn't seem to be the case, though.

Can you expand on this? When clicking the button, I get exactly what you seem to describe, I think? Slight difference in wording, though - Pending = Received/In Review.

I'd rather see "rejected because..." as the status than wait for the request to go through only for it to never do.

Unfortunately there's no feedback system at present, but it's definitely a feature I'd like to have.

Unfortunately, this is the end of Kanako and Ao's story, and also the end of Blue Friend altogether.

Aww. You can really feel the Meiling love in this one.

The art in this is so...weird. I wouldn't call it good, but it's rather charming and effective on its own. It has a certain uncertainty to it that makes it really attractive for this particular story. The whole of Act 2 is really creepy, the paneling, art, and dialogue match up so well. I really liked page 18 in particular. You can really feel the story moving in a certain direction and then, rather than go for the quick pay-off, it gets dragged out over multiple more pages. The tension gave me shivers.

Anyway if you can't tell, I really liked this. It's also the first Marisa x Parsee work on the site. I am super surprised by that.

I quite preferred this to Blue Friend season one, mostly because I found the characters to be far more interesting and believable. Feel like I could read a few dozen more chapters about their silly friendship drama. This time, it's clear that Ao is best girl. It also really seems like there ought to have been a Blue Friend 3rd Season focusing on Aki. I guess some stories are just meant to be left unresolved, though.

I feel like it needs a short FAQ:

Why is this not included in the Blue Friend series page?

Because for all intents and purposes, it is a completely different series. Some other sites chose to combine them all into one page, but I think there's far more to gain by splitting them up.

Why is it titled Blue Friend 2nd Season if it has nothing to do with the original?

Same author and magazine, so maybe it was considered a "safe" decision for marketing purposes? I have no clue. As far as I'm concerned, the title itself is misleading for our purposes, but them's the breaks.

Why is this tagged Yuri when it's obviously Subtext!!

That's not an easy one to answer, as this series falls very neatly on the precipice between the two tags. We decided to go with Yuri over Subtext because Subtext doesn't capture either the themes of the story or the degree to which the homo feelings are present. As always, tagging is an inexact science.

I love yuri with kids!! I'm not sure about Kodama Naoko yuri with kids. Seems terrifying.

Not having any spoiler info, before I read that first post I was guessing that her "friend" who betrayed her wasn't really pregnant and had actually slept with and told her ex that she was pregnant in order to get him away from Mayumi because she was in love with her but never had the guts to actually tell her how she felt. The part at the end makes that even more likely.

I suspect we'll find out that Mayumi has a history of same sex attraction dating back to college or something...

I find it kind of amusing people are already developing these kinds of theories based on the very limited information we have available, but it is Kodama Naoko, I guess.
