I'm not usually one to vent my frustrations, but I just came back here and realized Seven Seas left out chapter 7.5. Sure, it's not exactly important, but it's quick and cute and it's just adding to the pile of controversy they've been in lately. 13.5 is present, and volume 3 (as far as I have) ends with ch 18 but doesn't have 18.5, so I'm not sure if that will be kept.

Ugh...Seven Seas publishes a lot of yuri, so I can't bring myself to stop supporting them, but this does rub me the wrong way.

I mean, creativity isn't just black and white either, though. There can be excellent characterizations, and there can be disaster's like what Viz did to Nettaigyo...

Wait, what did Viz do? I'm unfortunately out of the loop, but I'm prepared to fetch my pitchfork if need be.

I honestly haven't even managed to bring myself to read more after the first volume. The worst case of localization I've seen in a while, with the quiet Japanese loner Koyuki sounding like the stereotypical popular American cheerleader, to the point that I can physically hear the bubblegum.

That's...extremely far from my interpretation. "Quiet Japanese loner" is definitely what I got from Koyuki in Viz's release, and I've only read Viz's release.

I sometimes think Calli and Kiara may actually be dating and it's Calli's tsundere act that's happening for the camera. There's not actually any strict proof that they aren't, and Dark_Tzitzimine's list up there is true...and pretty telling. And I outright refuse to believe Kiara is straight. Even Calli has retweeted TakaMori fanart and occasionally used some for her collab thumbnails.

It seems a little bit weird to me to stop shipping them just because they've stated they're besties irl. We've worked with way less.

But that's normal, while I believe people who are taking this too seriously are wasting their time and should reconsider how they enjoy a fictional manga, we still have the right to comment about THE manga, and yeah there's a light novel... But even light novel readers didn't have 10 or 50 chapters from the very start to have a "valid" opinion before commenting what they think of the introduction.

Oh, I absolutely agree. I'm not sure if you didn't quite understand me, but I was just criticizing Yurification's poor assumption that everyone has already read the LN.

And you know what not every man is depicted cartoonishly evil in it, seriously though have these people even read the LN before complaining?

No. No, they haven't. Why are you assuming they have?

People complaining about every men being depicted cartoonishly evil should go and read the LNs again. There is also a reason why its a fantasy setting and the reason for so much of sexism in it is revealed in the novel. And also try living in some of the countries around where I live and then tell if these cartoonishly evil men don't exist. I am not 100% sure but sexism in Japan is very prevalent and an author trying to up it to get a point across is nothing bad.

Ps. Read the novel again up till second volume

Also I hope they don't come complaining about it again and again in every other chapter. If you don't like the subject and the way it is being potrayed in this story complaining one is enough. Thank you.

"Again."

I suspect most of these complaints - if not all - are coming from people who haven't yet read the LN even once.

On the topic of gender politics, why are we talking about that on dynasty reader? We literally have a tag called [404: Men Not Found]. Comical representations, or lack there of, of men is a frequent occurence in a lot of manga hosted on this site. But this is the one that people complain about? I think that's really silly. At least Exiled has something to say with it. Hyperbole and exaggeration are tools writers use to convey messages and themes. If one of the themes is "patriarchy sucks," then I think this does a pretty damn good job at showing it. Every man in this world is comically, irredeemably evil? Awesome! I've been listening to 1950's radio shows (thanks, mom) and their women are so two-dimensional and they serve such limited roles in their narratives. It's great seeing the shoe on the other foot every once in a while.

I'm not one who's bothered by it, but men not existing and men being portrayed exclusively as scumbags are very different things. And these complaints do come up in other manga on this site where men are portrayed similarly.

TL credit page is right, "Sexiled" is an awful name. I didn't connect that this was that story until reading the credits.

Maybe, but on the other hand, that title did wonders for the marketing of it. The more literal titles are pretty generic (and unnecessarily long) and would not have garnered nearly as much attention.

Anyway, I don't want to go too spoilery (I've read the novels), but for those wondering about what she's wearing, she won't be wearing it for too long, and it does have an in-universe justification that fits the themes of the story.

And yeah, this series is pretty unashamedly heavy-handed in its gender politics. It didn't bother me, but if it bothers you, I wouldn't recommend it. No, what bothered me were the yuri being much lighter than expected and a particular...something at the very end that I naturally can't talk about yet. The manga may do both of those better, though.

No need to be an asshole because others don't like something you like. Take your own advice and "get a life."

The concept could work if it was longer and had a lot more development. As is, this is just someone's rape fantasy.

@Azero25, it's not their best movie (I think Moana was better), but it's still pretty good, solid 8/10 for me.

It's nice to see some male friends in yuri mangas in a while, but.. it's only nice when it's an actual friend like the one from tamen di gushi, not this kind of disgusting and creepy man. I'm tired of yuri manga being consumed mostly by men and not sapphic women, it just shows how much men see us as objects for their fun. To the men in the replies: Sincerely, as a lesbian, I'm really tired of of you fetishizing us. Please rethink about what you're doing because it's gross, for god's sake!

I don't know why you felt the need to go this far over this innocent 4-page doujin, but I'll address it anyway.

At least for non-pornographic yuri, yuri historically has not been consumed by mostly men. A common misconception, but false nonetheless. Also, it's a plain fact that yuri manga is mostly written by women, and it's the creators who...well, create the content, not the consumers*.

Also, what was disgusting and creepy about this guy? He's just enjoying a mobile game with a friend, then someone else comes and tells him to back off because she likes that girl, and when he realizes that he just thinks it's cute. What, is he not allowed to be happy that a gyaru treats him like a peer and a human being? Is he supposed to be against a girl liking another girl? He's clearly a bit awkward, but since when is that a crime?

In closing: yes, fetishization of lesbians is a problem that exists. But at least direct your anger where it's actually worth having it.

*An inb4: There's an argument to be made that consumer demand will drive what content is created, and thus if sexy yuri is what sells it will be what is created, but there are issues with that here: 1, if that were the case, you'd likely be seeing more men drawing yuri manga than we have. 2, yuri isn't exactly such a thriving market that artists need to do this kind of thing in order to eat; they draw yuri because they want to.
