There's also always the possibility that beastkin aren't a naturally occurring species, but are quite literally created by the state for...whatever reason. Also, we don't know what happens to the babies that don't pass the inspection to find a master. It's never stated to be bad, or even actually implied. For all we know, they're just not deemed suitable for adoption as household servants/companion pets/etc. and are given some other role to fill (not that any of this, including Mel being happy with her situation, rules out a Brave New World scenario either).

We really don't have enough information to really say a whole lot, especially since we know so little about this world at all.

This reminds me of the one-shot about a girl who always cheers others, including the girl she liked when that girl confessed to another girl, though it's ending is on a much lighter note compared to this one.

yes, and after the delusion she cleaned out the pachinko, that one shot is really fun

which one-shot is this? It sounds familiar...

There you go.

OH! I remember this. This one had the BEST credits page.

Not anywhere I've worked in America. Maybe things are different in Japan.

In the US, most employers believe that if they allow employees to eat leftover food, then suddenly there will be much more leftover food. "Oops, we cooked this big plate of food by accident. Guess I'll have to eat it!"

I'd just assumed that it was a hygiene thing. Now I know.

Although, most people I know who've worked at restaurants get pretty sick of the food there pretty quickly, so that doesn't really jive with my personal experience.

Honestly, rather than shipping her with anyone, I'll just be happy if Kurumi continues to survive. She hasn't been in great shape for a long while now, and we haven't established anything about her current state other than "Yuki isn't willing to give up on her yet"

Wow that was amazing and NOT how I was expecting that to turn out. How this story continues is going to be really interesting. I'm curious how they're going to play out this dynamic. Mimika has shown that she can barely resist doing things to Yuzumori and fantasizes of doing things to her. It will be very curious how she avoids not overstepping the boundaries here.

This is compounded by the fact that Yuzumori seems to have discovered that stringing her along is fun.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think the best (romantic?) comedy would result from absolutely nothing happening, or them just swapping from a French kiss. I figure there would be a beat, then a lot of embarrassment as Natsuko (or both) realizes that the experiment was in the end, devoid of any supernatural meaning.

Mari and Arisa are as cute as ever (especially Arisa, she's got this innocent wonder towards everything going on, it's endearing). I wonder if Arisa's personality changed a lot, since her accident. I wonder what she was like :0

I've gotten the impression from how Mari acts that Arisa didn't undergo a drastic personality shift after her accident; most likely she was a (somewhat?) less innocent version of her current self.

You know, I have no idea what I expected when I clicked this, but it most certainly wasn't this.

Don't quite get the ending, is it just left to the imagination why the plan didn't work?

Actually, I'm pretty sure it worked. It's implied the fast healing works by eating things. Hence, she had a personal chef.

360 years ago from 2014? Edgar Allen Poe wasn't even a twinkle in his father's eye in the year 1654...

Protag reminda me of Shino from Kin'iro.
Hair, odd obsessions, etc.

She's like Shino if Shino were even more open about her obsessions. And if Alice was more deadpan and straight-laced.

On another note that game sounds awesome.

Amen to that. A game where you play the zombie (that isn't Left 4 Dead 2's multiplayer, because that's a bit different). Someone should get on that.

So did anyone else just constantly hear the Inception noise in this chapter?

I'm actually a bit confused about the rules they're playing with in the dodgeball chapter. When I played dodgeball as a child, it was always a rule that if you caught someone's throw, THEY were out (so like, when Aoba's ball gets caught, she's out, not just her opponent having possession of the ball). I also never heard of getting people back into the game after they were out. Anyone familiar with the variant they're playing here?

Or plot twist : Yuzumori is way older than she looks and is teasing Mimika since the beginning.

Yes. This.

Come the fuck on
Not only do you kiss in front of the jellyfishes, but you also hold hands?
Have some maritime decency for Christ's sake

How silly. Jellyfish don't have eyes. Or ears. They don't even know what's going on.

In all seriousness.... Hiro need the ability to quickly 3D map out a body part (Chikako's) that she can't see, if they later want to move their relationship to... eh... another level.

Afterall, there're many parts of a woman body that you only can experience through touching (without grossing the other party out)... So yeah a small step for Hiro. But a huge leap for yuri robot designs

I just want a happy end for these two but I know it won't happen ;_; considering the reality of it all, Hiro may just end up being the only one alive with all these memories of Chikako, all alone, constantly replaying every moment she has recorded on Chika.

Two other endings that could happen
1/ this episode showed that Hiro has the ability to shut down her body function for Chikako. Means ... yeah she can "die" too
2/ the AI development could be advanced enough for Chika to create an android copy of herself based on all of the data Hiro collected (and being studied over several decades by these robotphile scientists). Maybe there will be some sign that her soul really pass on to that new body, means they will forever be with each other

Well, okay, there's also another way to look at an ending. People recover from losing loved ones all the time; it always takes time and support, but at the very least Hiro/Praha has all of the former she could ever want. So, it's not inconceivable for her to be able to move past, if not forget, Chika. Is it the most "romantic" resolution? No, but it doesn't mean this all ends with Hiro inevitably being broken, Hiro uh...breaking down, or in Transhumanism.

This disorder sounds legitimately horrifying (and not because of the end result).

Like, the way she described what it was like to have it actually happen sounds really, really disgusting. Like, large sections of your flesh just slough off? Ew.
