I always wonder in these impoverished young single person suddenly has to go broke and live in abject, precarious poverty to accommodate monsters and supernatural beings - how, exactly, did they all get by BEFORE they enslaved the human through their exreme kindness? I realize it's to show character - but some of that character seems to be over-the-top impractical.

So, A: There's no poverty here. Mahoro lives in a house in Tokyo. This girl is clearly f---ing rich, it's just that she has to spend a lot on living expenses. Even so, she didn't think twice about taking in Nene. She does fuss over money, but that seems more like a personality trait than a product of circumstances. (Otherwise, she would've swallowed her pride and sold the "WeeU") I assume her family is well off and she spends her substantial allowance on feeding the ayakashi. Whether she needs to is ambiguous? Yukime suggested they don't need to eat, being ghosts, but Kii and Kuuko immediately objected. I suspect that's more about them liking to eat than needing to. It'd be a bit odd for Yukime to not know at this point that she needs to eat. That said, if they do need food, it's not like it'd be hard for them to sneak what they need here and there, since anything they pick up appears to vanish from existence instantly.

Additionally, it’s shown that when Kuuko lost the ability to manifest and stopped getting donations, she was fine. Yeah, she was getting stuff but from (future) Yukime, but before that started she seemed utterly unconcerned with her future well-being. She certainly wasn’t acting like she NEEDED the offerings to survive.

I actually like this. Just because the one-shot happened and this will most likely go the same way doesn't mean that's all it will be. I'm hoping we see more of what happens in the middle and after. Plenty of ways to expand the "universe" with new characters and show how the two main characters grow, together and apart(?), yet still together(?). Breaking up also doesn't need to be angsty and sad (it wasn't all that in the one-shot). We've seen the "first love forever" stories so many times already, so something different is always welcome.

Yeah. There’s a lot of avenues that rarely get explored because usually we don’t dive into not-first love, or the first love introduced in the series.

For example, say Miwa does get together with he younger girl from the oneshot. What does she think of the fact that Miwa’s still bffs with Saeko, who is very gay?

The pages in the latest chapter (Vol. 8 Chapter 1) are scrambled because of computer sorting or somesuch. Can this be rectified?

Are the words for “cheer” and “chair” also that close in Japanese?

Or is there something else going on in the translation?

チア Vs. チェア is what I suspect she’s saying; I think she’s literally saying the English words but in a Japanese way and not parsing the vowel sounds right.

So seeing Kii burrow through the snow makes me wonder: how do normal people perceive it when the ayakashi directly interact with the physical world? Do they just see the snow spontaneously generating a Kii-sized trench? Is the snow trench only visible to people who can see ayakashi?

Also I wonder if we're going to get a part 3 to the whole Kuuko/Yuki thing; there was definitely something going on with them in this chapter.

I can already see the entire afterlife starting a civil war when Kanna dies.

It’s that or this is the origin story of Kanna, Godless Queen of the Underworld.

What an abrupt ending , I think dynasty-scans should've added What the fuck am I reading? tag

Really? It’s short but it told a complete story and nothing in it really defied reality—it’s a situation that could happen exactly as depicted in real life.

Most things with that tag are far more bizarre than just having an abrupt ending.

Check back with me when that lily starts talking or something.

ch. 127 takes place the one day akari's bag isn't full of disposable chopsticks

And also when Chitose isn’t around to cover for her.

It turns out androids don’t dream of electric sheep. More like mutant rabbits that can fly.

Not so much a love triangle as a love line segment.

“Private chat” and then the chapter ends with the text bubble going to a dark gradient.

Am I the only one who had the Inception sound playing in his head while reading this?

Basically any time the narrative pulled back a diegetic level or the chapter changed.

The more I see of Chitose when she’s being used beyond the nosebleed gag the more I like her; she’s just so...nice. I guess it’s for the better we don’t get her with Akari more, lest someone literally be killed with kindness.

Its a rarity to see an accepting parent in a yuri manga, its even rarer to see a supporting one who tries to get their gay daughter a date.

Not only that, I think Mr. Honami actually has a clearer idea what’s happening than said gay daughter.

https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/swap_swap_ch41#8

Oh boy! Well, that answered one swapping question

On another note: I like that Ayu, likes Haruko for who she is on the inside

it doesn't answer a thing.
ayu isn't a swapper u know, so the result is obvious

What we know so far

  • You can't swap with animals
  • Swapping twice, leads to a regular kiss
  • Lip contact is the only method
  • You and your partner have to be conscious

Now there are 2 more factors to consider
Either you can't swap, while already swapped, or you can't swap with a normal person

By next chapter, this revelation should be cleared up

I was actually under the impression that swappers can only swap with their designated partner, although no one’s tested that. So no matter who Natsuko kisses nothing will happen unless it’s Haruko.

Is this some game developer lingo that I'm missing a pun on?

Or is it really just that random?

The cover page implied Momo was bustier than
Hajime, and the second panel corrects that.

Largely just an effect of everyone standing at different angles relative to the viewer methinks...

Also fun fact, breast size isn't static throughout a woman's life, even after puberty. The cast is largely in their young adulthood, and the younger of them (Momo, Aoba, Nene, etc.) aren't even 100% done growing. Beyond that, a woman's breasts can go up and down in size over large enough periods of time.

...not that I think that's what's happening here.

Their friends totally know.

That’s how I want this to end: on the punchline that the “it’s a secret” line they’ve been repeating every chapter was 100% false and their friends have been aware the whole time.

I will admit, I saw the twist at the end coming, but it stretched my suspension of disbelief a little.

I mostly find it hard to believe that Riko somehow managed to complete the transfer procedures to a school in Tokyo without her guardian ever being involved or informed, and thus ruining the twist ending because her mom would know about it.

Otherwise, I enjoyed the series as a whole, but that felt like a plot hole for the sake of comedy to me.

I think the best part of this chapter was imagining the look on the camerawoman's face whenever she was off-panel or we could only see the back of her head.
