Nah. I think this is closer too (but not quite) a tsundere situation, rather than a hate sex one. The dark haired girl wanted to act aloof and tough, but absolutely wasn't able to follow through on it.

That shouldn't be much of surprise, since guitars are about three centuries older than violins. That's a lot of time to develop traditions and cultural cachet.

I fear it's more a matter of the guitar being seen as a "popular" instrument (despite masters like Rodrigo proving that full-blown orchestra-based classic music can be written for it) and the violin is seen as "not a popular" instrument (despite there even existing a word in English for a violinist specialized in popular music, "fiddler").
Such is life.

I feel like it has more to do with the fact that rock music has (generally) leaned towards "counter cultural", whereas classical music is more "traditional", for lack of a better term.

I'm not exactly a rocket musicologist though, so I'm not all that well-informed about the subject.

Rock is much newer and has roots in jazz. By the same token, it also originally came from music produced by black people in the US that was later adopted by white performers due to its popularity.

With that said, guitars don't need to play rock and rock doesn't need to be played with guitars.

I'm starting to wonder how much her father would actually care. Ririsa and her mother obviously think it's important, but it makes sense that they'd be overly sensitive and careful with that sort of thing. Similarly, it makes sense that the younger sister thinks its important, because she's young, personally values the violin, and is looking for flaws she can use to try and drive off her new family. However, in the grand scheme of things, there's nothing wrong with playing the guitar, even in classy settings, so I'd expect the father to care more about some combination of the style of music, type of guitar, and level of success, rather than the specific instrument.

I'm also a bit curious about how the various characters would feel about a more traditionally Japanese option, like the shamisen. They seem to be a more western-styled family, but its traditional origins and presentation definitely lend it an air of dignity. At the same time, shamisen's can also go extremely hard. I mean, basically any instrument can (electric violins are a thing), but rock is a much smaller leap for the shamisen. Also, yes, that is a violin with frets.

Would you mind explaining, because I'm still having trouble figuring out her situation. I got that she hasn't seen her mom in 12 years, implying that something bad happened to her, that weekends are particularly rough for her, she needs money, and a friend was offering to let her crash at their place, so she might not have a home of her own, but I feel like there are a few missing pieces that are preventing me from putting together a complete picture.

Also, I don't think the slightly delayed meds caused her grandmother's death. Going by the preceding scenes, she was already in pretty steep decline, to the point where she doesn't even recognize Uta at the end. So, I think she just died of natural causes and it happened while Uta was asleep.

The real problem is that the rest of her family left her care entirely up to Uta, and did nothing to help prepare her for what was coming or to talk to her about the effects of mental decline. The way they didn't even notice that the grandmother had died, let alone trying to comfort Uta and reassure her that it wasn't her fault, was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I mean, caring for a dying relative, while the rest of your family goes out to have fun, and thinking they passed because of a mistake you made would be incredibly hard for a full grown adult. For a child? I'm not sure they deserved to die over it, but it's not far off.

So are they going to learn that violins can play more than boring classical (not that classical is necessarily boring, but something tells me that's exclusively the type of classical they've been given)? Also, I kind-of want to see the sisters reacting to an electric violin.

Wait a second, an orchestral ensemble is asking for a bassist? Are they looking for a base (not guitar) player or are they a very different type of orchestral ensemble than what I'm picturing?

I didn't see the thumbnail for this image and, when I first opened it, it was scaled to perfectly cut off the sword, so it looked like a cute scene where Mokou is getting a nosebleed from Kaguya's horny hug. And then I scrolled down.

It's not so much that she doesn't accept Hinata as an Ogre, but that she doesn't even think of Hinata as an ogre. To some extent, that's not a bad thing; for her Hinata is just another person. However, at the same time, that means she's also erasing a fundamental part of who Hinata is and what she grew up with.

More pertinently, up until now, she's viewed the quest to find the special sake as a way to just solve the things that set Hinata apart from humans (in troublesome ways), without any consideration for how that would change Hinata's life and her other relationships or how it might not actually solve all of her problems.

If you don't mind a ham-fisted analogy, imagine if Hinata was trans, instead of an Ogre. For the most part, Naori treating her just like any other girl would be a good thing, but growing up as a trans person would mean Hinata had different experiences than other girls and likely faced (and continues to face) different hardships and part of having an honest relationship with her would involve acknowledging that.

To extend the analogy, this trans Hinata has already socially transitioned (she's living amongst humans, not with the other oni), and now she's considering medically transitioning too. Supporting her in this is a good thing, but it's also important to acknowledge that it isn't the only path she has available to her, that it has costs, and that it's not as simple or clean as going to the dentist for a cavity and coming out with everything fixed. One example of this, that this chapter kind-of hinted at, is that Hinata should be looking at transitioning because that's what she wants for herself, not because she thinks she needs to if she wants to be with Naori.

Now that I think about it, the way Oni, bartenders, the older generation, and the special sake are all presented in this manga makes me think it could be a really good allegory for aspects of being trans and transitioning, as well as being an ally. I'd be interested to see a more qualified take on the topic, but I already feel like I'm out of my depth saying just this much.

I'm pretty sure Aino is fully intent on answering that question, what with holding a white flower out to her and declaring that she wouldn't let their experience in the flower dimension just be a dream.

I feel like the "Evil Prince's" design is fairly unusual. Normally I'd expect that type of character to either have blond hair or shorter hair; I'm not sure I've seen a delinquent gyaruu with shoulder length black hair before.

Either way, I like it and would like more.

Yes. So glad we're continuing this. A favorite. Such a sweet, heartfelt series with a unique couple. Not too long too, 22 chapters (fortunately and unfortunately). From my memory, this is a first-time author and she felt very bad that this couldn't continue even further than it did. I remember her blaming her skills. Someone can correct me if I'm mixing my mangaka up.

Edit: Going by the comic-action website, it looks like there are 20-some-odd chapters (including multi-part chapters) and the last one (on the site) came out last October, so we have a ways to go.
