Another group typeset this again and posted it on Mangadex, if anyone wants to reread this. Though considering the circumstances that led to this getting deleted from here in the first place, I'm not sure if that version will be uploaded here or not.

Also, this apparently got serialized a couple of years ago. That version's complete at 2 volumes, though no one has scanlated it.

It's an old meme, dating back to when a brain-washed Hitomi punched Madoka in the stomach back in episode 4. That's all there is to it, really.

This artist in particular really likes this meme for some reason.

No. They either had coin changing machines (dispensing either coins or tokens) or the attendant dispenses them herself. Or Fuji was carrying 500 yen coins, though this is less likely.

^ Oh, I see what you mean. But yeah, that stuff was covered in the chapter 7 of the web novel, "First contest (2)". This manga chapter only covered chapter 6 of the web novel.

I like the implication from Yatsude that this isn't the first time Fuji's done something dumb like this.

@elevown Rereading the web novel and manga chapters, I don't think the test was really about them learning spells at all so much as just testing their magical aptitude and ability. The story doesn't really go into how exactly Rei got into the magic academy in the first place, but I assume her entrance test involved testing whether she was able to do magic period without seeing how strong she was exactly.

Sora has illusion powers, according to her promotion record. Also TBH I’m not sure her true form is Cautus either.
Executor mentions he has a distant relative that has illusions and a “great musical talent”; assuming he’s referring to Sora then she’s probably Sankta.

I looked it up - apparently Vouivre is a reference/another name for Guivre, a medieval French word for creatures with serpentine bodies and dragon heads, with the word itself being the origin of “wyvern”.

Finally managed to E2 my Ifrit. Fun fact, apparently the reason she’s missing her originium marks on her body in her E2 art despite them showing up on all her other art is because of a scanning error.

The original is the web novel version, which can be read for free here: https://jingletranslations.wordpress.com/i-favor-the-villainess/. The translation isn't very good and the writing isn't the greatest, but it's complete, with a sequel currently in progress (which is Chapter 9 onwards). It's not too long either, despite what the number of chapters implies. No art, though.

The light novel, which has 2 volumes, is getting an English release by Seven Seas Entertainment, but it's not out yet. The physical copy of the first volume is getting released on November 11, but there'll be an early digital release on September 24: https://sevenseasentertainment.com/series/im-in-love-with-the-villainess-light-novel/. I'm not sure what changes, if any, there are story-wise compared to the web novel, but at the very least it'll have a better translation along with some nice illustrations.

So basically, read the web novel if you can't wait and don't mind the poor English. The manga so far adapted the first six chapters of the web novel, though there's some significant exposition that was removed or changed so you may want to go over those.

^ I'm pretty sure we're all caught up as far as the manga goes. Unless you're talking about the translated web novel chapters instead, in which case probably not - Dynasty usually doesn't upload Text stuff.

This was originally a light novel, right? Is it worth a read or should I just read the manga as it's translated? Hell, is the LN even translated?

It was originally a web novel, and then was adapted to a light novel and then the manga. The web novel was fan-translated online, whereas the light novel is going to be officially released in English in a few months.

You can read ahead on the web novel for free if you want, but the fan translation is pretty rough. Also it's pretty exposition-y. If you're fine with that, go for it.
