As far as I'm concerned, there really doesn't have to be anything romantic between Shizuka and the little sister, as the plot thread about the delinquent finally finding someone who won't abandon them is extremely powerful as it is. I mean, her being willing to try to set aside her understandable cynicism and make a friend is compelling stuff!

To be honest, you're both right...

That said, after some reflection and going through the comments section in depth, I've begun to think that there is actually a deeper message in this story.

Honestly, it's seems like the main message is about how people can sometimes end up deceiving themselves. The interesting thing is that the "truth" of Mitsuko's orientation is ambiguous/left up to interpretation... which I can understand why that would be upsetting to a lot the readers. But, I think the point was more about the fact that Mitsuko didn't know who or what she wanted to be, which lead the ending in the story happening.

Of course, there's also the issue of how the other women in the office are completely duplicitous in what they're thinking versus what they're saying. Really, there's a part of me that's inclined to think that the "real victim" in this story was Kyouko. I mean, people talk about her behind her back, and in the last panel- based on her reaction- it seems that she actually cared about Mitsuko a lot more than she realized.

Hence, you could say that she's the victim by not being honest with herself and Mitsuko when it mattered most.

Another great chapter. I might be misreading things, but I get the impression that older sister is jealous, along the lines of “I wish my girlfriend would take initiative like that too sometimes!”

Oh that's exactly where she's at.

The whole chapter is fucking fantastic. Big sister wants to make sure Hime isn't a straight looking for a prince, and Hime immediately jumps to "Boy do I want to top the shit out of her" and kills all the tension fucking dead.

Idk, something about the last two panels just fucking kills me.

The way you put it- "top the shit out of her"- made me very happy just now.

Edit: Also, I really like it when a typically boyish tomboy-type girl starts to show a cute girlish side. I mean, Kazuki (at least inwardly) is sometimes a lot more "girly" than the outwardly more "feminine" Hime is, and vice versa.

Ps. I've also got a strong feeling that Mizuki overestimate's her sister's 'abilities', because Hime strikes me as the sort of person who would be more inclined to being a "Top".

Thank you Nezchan. I'm always bewildered by these sort of situations, like the notion that people seem so upset by the idea that Mitsuko might actually be happy being a with a man, or that Kimura-san's feelings have no value.

I can understand why this would be a polarizing work, but I actually wasn't that bothered by it. After all, it's sadly closer to real life than most manga (yuri or het)... It's like, while I don't really agree with it, I can still 'respect/ the bluntness and the sentiment of the ending in saying "sometimes you don't get your fairytail ending, sometimes real life f*cks it up."

This is (at least) my third time reading through this, and during this most recent reading, I suddenly realized why the art looked so familiar- the mangaka is the person behind "Dance of the Vampire Bund" and the Super Hero anthology like "Don't Meddle with My Daughter" as well as the yuri doujin spin-off featuring the MC's daughter.

All of that said, this has to be their best work, as well as probably the most underrated- seeing as how I feel it's their best written work. And I'd also like to say that I'm in total agreement with FlameHazeKatsu- seeing as how my physical copies of Murcielago are great to have around!

This doujin is so wonderful, I loved reading it. Ayukko is basically tied with Maitake for my favorite Mangaka (with Maitake only just slightly edging them out.) Also, I love seeing ecchi content from Ayukko.

As I understand it, closed eyes means either the character has nothing to hide and what you see is what you get, or conversely that they have a lot to hide.
